Chapter 31 - Scene 4 - Skeleton abominations

Scene 4 - Skeleton abominations

Wave after wave passed for the contestants from that point on fortunately it seemed that then on the Death Knights were only summoned every five waves and would increase by one per one hundred skeletons.

Their presence on the battlefield strained the contestants if they weren't taken out fast enough causing injuries whenever they appeared. On wave thirty, two things happened the wait between the waves increased to fifteen minutes. The other thing that happened was that a nightmare appeared making some of the contestant's skin crawl as the skeleton archers were transformed into four-legged crossbow skeleton abominations.

They were like walking mini ballistas shooting out bolts from their human skulls as a hundred or so bolts were stuffed into their expanded rib cage being loaded into the crossbow planted inside. It made Sol’s stomach turn seeing how twisted these creations were.

It didn’t help that these skeletons were fast and had sharp claws that would attack with their hands and feet while shooting bolts when they least expected. Despite the surprise, the contestants were able to handle it well enough.

The twins walked back out at wave 36 and went to town on their fount crushing skeletons left and right inspiring others around them to fight harder against the undead. When they reached the end of wave 39 what they expected came the time increased to a twenty-minute wait.

Luna didn’t feel the need to rest and started collecting skulls on the ground and using them as baseball practice. A few other deranged people nearby joined her in hitting skulls into the air as far as they could.

They even treated it like a competition to see who could go farther, her brother Sol, on the other hand, sat nearby drinking a bottle of water conserving his energy while trying to communicate with his weapon spirit with no luck.

Of his siblings, he only knew that Saren, Luna, and Xue had formed a connection as for the others he didn’t know if they had already. He didn’t want to be left behind, but his weapon spirit seemed to be ignoring him for some reason. It frustrated him that his weapon was being so stubborn in not talking only sharing the memories of his ancestor.

Master Mo told him that he was a blood descendant of the Sun-Moon Clan, but it didn’t end there he wasn’t just some run of the mill branch descendant he was actually a direct descendant to the original ancestor who had slain a god.

The weapon he wielded now was used by his very own late ancestor filled him with mix feelings, he wondered why then he and his sister wasn't killed on the bloody eclipse who ended their clan. The thought made him question how he ended up in that godforsaken city so far away from the clan it didn’t make sense to him. It felt like he was put there by someone for some purpose how else could nine heaven-defying geniuses be gathered together in such a way.

Whenever he tried to think of why his mind grew cloudy and was directed to another line of thought on a completely different subject. To him, it felt wrong that no matter what he tried he couldn’t remember his past up to a certain time.

Another thing he noticed was that slowly, but surely his mother's face was getting erased bit by bit and his feelings of her were being lessened as well. It almost felt like his mind was being manipulated, but he had no proof of such a thing he just grew more frustrated at his lack of understanding.

While lost in his thoughts Luna poked his side with the butt of her spear, “Hey brother it’s time to started fighting soon get off that pile of bones.”

“Eh? Oh yeah sure let's go kill.”

Leaving his thoughts, for now, he slapped his face then got into a battle stance, ‘I can think about it later right now we gotta kill these skeletons.’

Luna held her head arrogantly with her spear over her shoulder, eyes crimson she bit her lower lip with impatience she really wanted to impale something with her spear. The clock reached zero and what appeared instead of skeleton foot soldiers were zombies warriors being lead by six death knights.

The zombie warriors looked almost human with the exception of their sunken in eye sockets that flickered with green flame. Another change from a human was their ears were longer than one showing that they were elf zombies in fact.

The tone of their skin was gray with not much muscle to speak of, spikes of bone grew from their limbs giving them a sinister feeling. And last but not least the armor they wore wasn’t just some rusted set of gear it was a shiny mix set of plate and chain mail. With their weapons sharpened full of glowing runes.

On Luna's face, a hint of joy appeared on her lips that her enemies had a little bit of flesh on them, it would make it all the more enjoyable to rip them limb from limb with her spear. First, though she had to take care of those annoying Death Knights who were pests in her eyes they wouldn’t give off the good feeling flesh being pierced.

Turning to her brother Luna gave of a pleading expression, “Hey brother can you take care that Death Knight? I wanna play with those walking corpses.”

Sol turned to Luna with a slight smile and nodded his head, “Alright I’ll deal with the sack of bones this time just watch my back ok?”

Raising her spear with joy Luna replied, “Yey~ Hey, you there take care of those abominations for us, don’t touch those corpse those are my prey. If you touch them I’ll impale you!”

The contested felt fear as Luna crimson eyes stared at him hungrily. as if they would bite him to pieces. Face paling the contestant shook his head readily “Understood!”

“Good. Now, lets claim some heads!”
