Chapter 15 - Scene 2 - Bread Maker

Scene 2 - Bread Maker

The bell rang and the two collided in a flash; the instant they closed the distance to one meter. Dela stood on her hands suddenly; kicking out with the force of a lion straight towards EmberShine, who was a second late to attack only allowing her to defend with her arms.

With a bang EmberShine was sent siding all the way back to the wall; as soon as she stopped she rolled to the right, narrowly dodging Dela’s full force kick that left a light imprint on the wall. EmberShine saw her chance then and attacked her flank; alas she only grazed Dela’s arm. Dela’s eye flashed with bloodlust sending a brutal counter attack with another monster kick onto EmberShine side. EmberShine had then blown away again to the other side of the pit smacking into the wall with a thud.

Dela smiled charmingly, but for EmberShine it was almost demonic to her, “Come on big sis you better give it your all, after all, I got someone to impress.~”

EmberShine replied without words instead she ignited her magic on her hands and feet, an explosion of scattered embers circled around her limbs shining a pale ghostly aura. Getting on all fours EmberShine moved with a quickness as she dug her nails into the ground, eyes on fire she jumped in mid air and sending a right sidekick in mid air towards Dela's face.

Only Dela wasn’t flustered in the slightest, “Oh Oh! Big sis, you’ve improved your magic application! Still… It isn’t enough!”

The haughty Dela gathered an intense power in her left hand that glowed a light white mist, that made EmberShine pale, but nonetheless went through with her attack, “Eat this new attack! Flaming Slash!”

“Ha! Is that it? Impact!”

Fist and leg collided with the wind and fire scattering in all directions colliding around the barrier, exciting the crowd to their feet. As the dust was about to settle a shout could be heard inside, “Is that all you got big sis? You still lack training!”

Then in the next instant, the crowd saw a body fly through the air full of bloodstains, it was EmberShine! Flying sideways she smashed back into the wall with a foot imprint on her stomach yet again!

If she was a normal human she would have been turned into a mist of blood from Dela’s attack, she only got minor body injuries thanks to how the arena was set up. Coughing up blood as she sat there staring scornfully at Dela, getting back up wiping she wiped her face with her sleeve and charged back at her like a wounded wolf that didn’t know retreat!

With a smile, Dela readied her stance, “Haha! This is why I like fighting you big sis, you never give up. The perfect kicking bag to relieve stress! Oops little sis let her inner thoughts out please ignore little sis words k~”

In mid charge EmberShine was stunned by Dela’s word which in turn turned to fury, ‘That’s what you think of me you little shit! I’ll show you k!’

With renewed energy, the two fought against each other at full strength, but it was obvious Dela held the upper hand for the entire fight and soon after EmberShine was defeated from a kick squarely hitting her gut again. It was as if saying no matter what the result would be the same I will kick you in the stomach! After the count of ten Dela was announced the winner.

After the count of ten where EmberShine couldn't move a muscle, Dela was announced the winner.

EmberShine had a streak of blood come flowing down her mouth as she lay on the ground, “Damn you Bread Maker as tough as usual.”

Dela reached out her hand and helped EmberShine up, “Not bad big sis! You’ve gotten much better!”

Determination filled EmberShine eyes, as she grabbed Dela’s hand, “I’ll train harder and beat you next time Bread Maker!”

After finish talking, EmberShine left the pit walking towards the exit.

Dela waved to the awestruck crowd that woke up from their daze and began to shout, “Bread Maker! Bread Maker!...” In a crazed chanting manner.

Dela grabbed a fresh towel after entering the tunnel from the female attendant; cleaning the sweat off of herself, “Whew it’s been awhile since I fought!  I wonder if I awed Sol he~he~.”

Such thoughts pass through the girl's head remembering the story about how her mother meet her father in this very pit. It made Dela blush madly thinking such thoughts; she walked out of her chamber and walked towards the outer area. Before she entered she told the attendants to take Sol and them to private seats; only for Dela to see Luna and Saren sitting in their seats with complex expressions.

Walking up to the two of them the siblings noticed her approaching; Saren was the first to speak up, “Nice show of skill Dela, It impressed us quite a bit... More so for Sol. He got so excited that he went to compete. Let me guess this is a famous battle pit?”

Dela was glad that Sol liked her fight, yet when she heard about him going to fight she grew worried. Would he be alright? He’s a cultivator, yet it seems he just started? Countless questions filled her soul making her worry endlessly.

Finally, she couldn’t bear it and asked Saren, “How long has Sol be cultivating?”

Saren answered her honestly, “Less than a month.”

Dela almost fell over from shock, heavens! Sol wanted to fight inside a battle pit and he only had a month of cultivating experience! He’s seeking death! Worried Dela started to move to the counter only for her worst fears to be realized.

She saw Sol walk out onto the pit floor wearing an excited expression on his face. Opposite to him was a youth bandaged all over his body covering most of his face leaving his two eyes and mouth open. The youth wore a holey dirt covered black robe with a calm expression.

Dela gaze grew fearful for Sol, “That's one of the top ten fighters in the battle pit! Why is Sol fighting him!”

A battle pit was a strange thing. It allowed both fighters to fight on the same level of battle power regardless of current cultivation level which what made a challenging experience. Wits, battle prowess, and technique were all the deciding factors in a fight here. The matches were well liked for starting out cultivators allowing them to build battle experience; since the likelihood to die was very minimal.

Which is why Elder Sam allowed Dela to fight in such a place; so she could build up her experience as a fighter in a safe environment, but still, allow her the danger element she needed. The matches were always up randomized in a way that matched up against opponents of different levels and then in the ring would restrict the two’s powers to the same level.

Even Dela herself was at the mid seventh stage of the first realm which was considered pretty good for her age. Yet even for her, she had never fought one of the top ten so why was Sol so unlucky?

She didn’t know the reason was that of Sol’s God weapon! Actually, a fight wasn't picked randomly but, combat ability! How they measured it secretly was the battle aura of the person held not his cultivation base!
