Chapter 14 - Scene 2 - Love of Bread

After taking a bath and getting dressed, the siblings broke up into groups of three and began to explore the city with excitement.

Sol led Luna and Saren towards the bread shop, his face covered in a wide smile.

Bread! Wonderful fresh bread! Just thinking about it made his mouth water. Even though the food at the Inn was good, its bread just didn’t anything for him since he had tasted that godly bread. He had to have it again, perhaps slathered in honey or filled with jam.

Saren cursed his elder siblings for making him take care of these two demons on his own. Luckily it seemed they were only after bread so it would be alright… He hoped…

After taking a few turns, the three followed a mouth-watering scent of fresh loaves until they entered a bakery bustling with business.

They watched as the small girl, Dela, lifted massive wooden peels with her tiny arms, placing and removing bread within with ease. She was so wrapped up in her work she didn’t notice Sol and his siblings until she finished wrapping and displaying the newest batch of bread for all to see.

*Droll*

Dela saw the three siblings staring like hungry wolves, and let out a charming laugh that warmed the hearts of people around her.

Waking up from their stupor, the group of three grew embarrassed, not knowing what to say.

Suddenly Dela's father came out of the back and laughed when he saw their embarrassed expressions, “Haha! Dela, go get cleaned up and then you can go out and play. Don’t worry, I can sell the bread by myself!”

Dela smiled and happily ran into the back, glancing at Sol before closing the door behind her.

When the door closed, the large man’s smile turned solemn, “Hey you three, come here!”

The three siblings wiped the drool from their lips and moved towards the shopkeeper. Only now did they notice his features, as only food was on their minds yesterday. The man had long, unkempt, grizzled brown hair, a long messy beard, peach blossom eyes, bronze skin, and a body full of chiseled muscles

Finally, they had noticed the large man's hidden aura… He was a cultivator! And a powerful one at that! The three suddenly felt an immense pressure.

Seeing the large man’s originally warm face become cold chilled the three down to their bones, “If anything happens to my daughter while she's out with you... I'll break the three of you. Even if you have Master Mo behind you, I’ll still crush all the bones in your bodies. So make sure she has fun today, okay?”

With that last sentence the pressure on Sol suddenly increased, clearly, this question was directed at him. Gritting his teeth, Sol almost fell to his knees but managed to hang strong under the immense weight pressed upon him.

His gaze was strong for his age, “I swear on my love of bread that she’ll have a great day today!”

The large man stared at the young boy in front of him with a hint of surprise in his eyes. He had exerted the strength of the Fifth stage of the Heavenly Body Refinement on Sol yet the boy could still stand!

With a sweep of his divine sense, he could tell that Sol was only at the Second stage of the Heavenly Body Refinement realm. Finally, the large man's eyes flashed with approvement, as if he had found a comrade. He released the pressure placed upon them and said, “When you see him tell Master Mo that Elder Sam wants a to have a few drinks with him when he has time. It’s been a long time since we men had a good drink haha! Here, take this. It's on the house.”

He gave each of the siblings a large loaf of bread filled with cream and lathered in honey. They quickly thanked Elder Sam and began to eat like wolves, cherishing each bite. Just as they finished off their delightful bribes, Dela came out. Her previously tied up hair was now just as messy as her father’s, but unlike his hers curled around her like waves.

She was dressed in city clothes that seemed boyish for a girl her age, but despite that Dela still had that girlish charm about her.

Seeing this, her father raised a brow, “You going to that place again? Oh, you want to show off eh? Hahaha, like mother like daughter! Have fun you four!”

Dela smiled brightly and pointed forward, “Let’s go! I’ll show you around town!”

Then her eyes met Sol's and immediately broke out into a full faced blush, ‘Ugh he must think I’m so un-lady like… Why did I dress up in boy clothes again, ugh… Well if I didn’t then the people there would have made fun of me…’
