Chapter 18 - Scene 3 - Confrontation

Scene 3 - Confrontation

Boren grabbed at a small cube hanging from his waist and pulled a sword from within. The blade held a faint light as he rushed at Saren with the intent to kill him in one slash.

Alas, how could the rest of the siblings watch their brother be killed, pushing away from the chair in a flash Rune appeared in front of Saren. In midsts rushing she equipped her gauntlets, in a shocking manner she angled her hand to catch the blade!

The madman Boren sneered, ‘Would dare catch Silver level battle weapon with their hands? Stupid woman! You seek death! Be cut in half by my Silver rank sword!’

Boren’s thoughts were quite sound since anyone dressed that shabby wouldn’t be able to get their hands on a gold ranked weapon let alone a greater demon weapon. Without hesitation, Boren picked up his speed intending to slash Rune and Saren together in one swing.

With a cold snort, Rune reached out her hand confident in her abilities.

A sinister smile full of anger appeared on Boren’s face right before his blade made contact with Rune hand, ‘Tch a beauty will die today, I thought the sect master said they were monsters. Not stupid!’

“Die!”

Speaking will ill intentions his blade made contact with Rune’s hand the blood he thought to see didn’t happen shocked him greatly. The glare in Rune’s eyes overflowed with anger as sparks of green frames came from them; she held the blade in a death grip standing there like a statue ready to erupt with untold wrath.

At this moment Boren began to sweat inwardly, ‘How could she catch my blade! Impossible unless she has a gold ranked weapon! No matter this will be an easy fight!’

With just one hand Rune held the weapon in an iron grip that no matter how Boren tried to move his blade free it wouldn't budge an inch. She smiled evilly as she began to bent the sword thanks to the strength of her gloves at a ninety-degree angle towards Boren.

Everyone behind her had already begun to move except for Nena who her head in curiosity, Dela, and Sol who was too weak currently to fight Gripping his chair handles in powerlessness ate away at his mind with the recent words Vince has spoken to him.

Someone was trying to kill his family, yet he couldn’t move! It tore at it his mind that because of his recklessness he couldn’t join the fight, each one of them was sworn brothers and sister who would fearlessly fight to the death for their family.

Before the rest of the red robe men and women could back up the Boren they were quickly being suppressed by the seven. The people eating at the table around them were shocked by how they reacted to the people in red; didn’t they know who they were messing with? It was the Khoa clan!

Seeing that everyone behind him was put into sorry states the Boren said in a shaky manner losing his arrogant composure, “Don’t you know how powerful our clan is? I Boren Khoa am the clan heads son! If you dare touch a hair on my head my clan elders will hunt you down to the ends of the earth!”

Rune stared at him with a strange look in her eyes that said, 'If you're not ready to die, don’t pick up a sword!'

With a smile playing the villain Boren waited for Ruen to just slightly loosen her grip on his new deformed sword. At which Boren took this chance to pull out a dagger using the peak of his cultivation base and he lunged at Rune with a murderous smile sending off the intention to kill!

Vince saw Boren acting strangely and then rushed at him, no matter how chaotic the battle had become he always kept an eye on Rune. He let go one of the red robes after beating his face in knocking him out, “I won’t allow anyone to hurt her on my watch, yet she’s too far away!

Vince yelled at the top of his lungs, “Rune!”

Rune eyes widen before coldly snorting, despite the lapse of judgment his strike was too slow!

With a single movement, she reached for the dagger intent on crushing Boren’s hand and the dagger together! Boren’s felt that the time was right and left go the dagger before he lost a hand, exactly like he imaged it the dagger was crushed like a paper ball as sparks flew.

Rune didn’t stop though fully intent to end Boren's life her eyes flared up an evil green. Her other hand reached out intent on tearing out Boren's throat out in one swift movement. Borens smiled swiftly before changing his face to be filled with fear as he ran away from her grasp, ‘Good this should be enough!’

Boren screamed at the top of his lunges towards the rest of the red robes, “Retreat! We’ve stepped on a den of tiger tails!”

Rune eyes were bloodshot with the intent to kill the little worm in front of her and now he wanted to run?

As if she’d let him, “You want to flee? Die!”

At this moment she began to gather magic her elbow ready to unleash her wrath and kill the one in front of her. Then a figure appeared in front of her, “Rune stop! You’ll hurt the people here if you unleash that spell!”

Vince held onto her body to stop her from setting the place ablaze. Thankfully with his voice of reason and him holding onto her tightly made Rune mind turned blank as she gazed at all the people around her with fear in their eyes.

The room was shocked! Heavens a mage was in their midsts about to cast a spell indoors?! They would have been dead from the untamed residue energy! They didn’t think this little girl would be fierce to kill!

With an uncaring attitude, Rune gazed at the fleeing Boren she wished she ended his life in a bloody said cooly still within earshot, “Our master once told us that should always remember our bottom line… And you, a piece of trash has crossed it! I’ll remember to settle this score another day keep your life nice and warm for one day I shall burn it to the ground!”

Keeping the act of fear Boren ran away with his red-robed men and women in tow, ‘Ah as expected of monsters they really hold a grudge! I really hope Sect Master can protect me. Was it worth it to take the offer to provoke them?’

The people from the Khoa clan trembled in fear as they dragged away with the two unconscious people, Vince and Saren had thrashed into the ground. The people watching were silent didn’t know what to do; after the Khoa clan left the boss of this establishment spoke up to everyone on the second floor.

He wasn’t the boss in name only he took control of the matter swiftly, “Customers about this mess and interruption we are sorry for this intrusion. Please go back to enjoying the rest of your meal. To make it up to you we shall take off twenty-five percent of your meal.”

The people cheered who didn’t want to save money? They raised their glasses towards the boss and to the group praising them. Everyone then sat down again and resumed their meal still the mood wasn’t as bright as it was before.

Luna's eyes shined full of wonder, “Wow big sis you were so cool amazing! You were all like.”, Striking the pose of Rune holding her head high and arrogantly she recited what her big sis had said in a deep voice, “I’ll remember to settle this score another day keep your life nice and warm for one day I shall burn it to the ground!”

Rune held her head with a headache cheeks red with embarrassment, “God that was so embarrassing! What came over me!”

Ren chimed in eating a now slightly cold piece of chicken, “What are you talking about Elder sis? That was so cool you totally crushed his hand! Humph! He dares raise a sword to my big sister Rune he’ll get what he deserves!”

The siblings laughed at Ren’s remark beginning back some of the atmosphere lost and finished their meal with no more distractions. Surprisingly despite a few people still scared of Rune a few of them brought a few drinks on the house for the siblings. Apparently many people sitting around them didn’t like the Khoa clan for their arrogant attitude.

For the rest of the day, they traveled around the town in the carriage with Dela as their guide. Soon night came around they were in a park that was a good distance away from the inn.

Through the thicket of trees, a large stone pathway led all the way to a hill from the nearest road that was a mile away. They came upon a large hill that was nestled within a dense forest of trees. Weirdly enough the hill was devoid of trees in the surrounding area by one hundred meters.

Exiting the carriage the group joined a crowd of people stargazing in the sky. For a few hours, they stayed watching the shooting stars in the sky. Finally, when they grew tired they went back towards the inn, the elder siblings carried the little ones back and laid them down in bed.

At this point in time, Saren pulled Vince out to talk about something privately since the rest were cultivating at this time and didn’t pay attention much.

With bewilderment, Vince asked his little brother, “What is it, little bro? WHy pull me out here to talk about… Is it about the fight we had today? Don’t worry Master Mo can shelter us against anything the Kora clan would pull on us.”

Saren shook his head, “It’s that but isn’t that my dear brother… If you would let me be frank and listen to me fully this small fight might have a deeper meaning.”

Vince’s eyes widen and then expressed his concern, “You don’t thank that fight was… Intentional? Impossible! Who would plan against us when we just entered the city!”

Taking a deep breath Saren closed his eyes and then began to speak, “I believe that fight was to serve as a test to see if we had to will to fight against others set by… Our dear Master Mo.”

“What?”

Vince lay in bed as the words spoken by Saren just recently resounded in his mind trying to make sense of it all. He turned his head to the soundly sleeping Rune you held his hand as usual before going to sleep. There wasn’t really any sad moments today, in fact, it was exciting for the siblings despite the fight it came off as a fun day.

While Rune slept without worries, Vince stayed up for a while thinking about the discussion he had with his too smart for his own good little brother. Master Mo wished to use the kora clan as a service to sharpen him and his siblings into warriors? How could he gather that much from the little information given?

Alas, Vince couldn’t see the reason and made the decision to not talk about it with the rest of their siblings he only wished Saren was wrong and that these fun-filled days could last forever...

But the thing he knew for sure about his dear little brother Saren was…

As long as he had enough information…

He was always right.
