Chapter 5 - Scene 4

Scene 4 - Dinner Time

The seven siblings followed Skinny to the second floor and entered the dining room. The room was brightly lit by lao stones embedded inside the walls that gave off a light pleasing to the eyes. The tables and chairs were made out of fine Olin metal that came from a metal tree that grew within the Five Elemental Forest. Despite being made out of metal, their colors were a warm brown embedded with saint blue gems. Fine apple wooden boards made up tavern style walls, giving the place a homey aura.

The seven siblings took their seats in unimaginably comfortable chairs around a long table in the center of the room. When everyone was settled in, black-robed maidens came out with lavish dishes that made their mouths water at the sight of them.

Without much table manners, the kids began stuffing their faces with food, like black holes devouring the sweetest nectar the world had to offer.

Xue’s cheeks burned red as she held her hand to her cheek, “Ohuuuu! This food is the best! Don’t you think Len?!”

Len furiously nodded her head up and down in pure enjoyment as she made fast and methodical movements with her fork. Eyes narrowing, she was determined to eat until she became stuffed to the brim.

All the while, Sol, and Luna were trying to out do each other in an eating contest but were currently going neck and neck in a deadlock. The two were stuffing chicken, mash potatoes, and gravy into their mouths and not giving the other an inch.

Ren began drinking wine along with his food while chatting with Saren about matters in cultivation, shamelessly asking for pointers from their little sister Nena.

“Nena, how did you reach the bottleneck so fast? With the way things are going this big brother is going to lose face haha!”

“Big brother Ren don’t jest with our younger sister! If you don’t want to lose then train harder, or I shall finally surpass you!”

“Oh? Getting cocky their little bro. Remember who whipped you into the shape in the first place! But I'll welcome a spar anytime!”

Nena looked back and forth between her brothers, not knowing what to say and feeling at a loss on what to do. Until that is he appeared…The man in the scarlet coat.

“My, my. Youths are always so hot blooded haha!”

Everyone at the table quickly turned their attention towards the newcomer. He wore a black eye patch with a complex goldenseal that flickered with a faint glow over his right eye. His left eye color, on the other hand, was almost pure white with a gray tint to it. The man's face gave off a youthful vibe with a hint of old mixed into it. He wouldn't be called outright handsome but would grab the attention of those walking down the street. His white hair came down his shoulders in a spiky manner, giving him a messy mannerism. He held a slim, average sized body that managed to give off a sense of power to those that gazed upon him.

Saren stood up in a defensive manner, sensing profound danger, with the rest following his lead. Holding the knives and forks as weapons, the seven siblings were ready to pounce onto the mysterious man.

Saren growled, “Who are you…”

The man glanced around at their faces with shock then laughed, “Hu hu hu… HA HA Ha ha ha… you guys are too funny, relax! I don’t mean any harm, so please sit down and I shall introduce myself.”

He waited for a few seconds but saw no change in the sibling’s demeanor. Clearly, they felt threatened by him, which made him a tad bit angry, “Your uncle said SIT!”

With an angry glint in his eye, the man glared around the room, causing the siblings to lose control of their bodies and fall into their chairs. Sweat began to pour down their faces from the pressure, and they realized that if this man wanted to kill them, he could do it easily and without batting an eye.

Soon enough the siblings stopped struggling, the man waited a bit before opening his mouth, “Say sorry to Uncle and I’ll release you.”

Begrudgingly, one after another each sibling said sorry, with Saren being the last. Now satisfied, the man in the scarlet coat released the pressure. Smirking a tad, the man sat back with a cup of wine in hand, leisurely taking a sip.

Placing the glass on the table in an elegant manner, the strange man opened his mouth, “My name is Raxis V. Borsin, the head engineer, and pioneer of metal maniacs. The ship we’re currently inside was designed and made by me. I just came for a bite to eat and to see what you kiddies were like, you truly didn’t disappoint Haha!”

Saren couldn’t quite believe this man's words, there must be something more to his visit, “If that’s all you didn’t need to make such a sudden entrance. You could've made a grand entrance or better yet just a normal one so that we wouldn't be on guard. Instead, you did it to test our reactions, isn’t that right Mr.Rax.”

Raxis’s eye opened slightly, appraising this youth in front of him and keeping silent as he thought to himself, ‘Hmmmm~ what a good thinker… As expected of a Puzzle soul, to guess my intentions right from the get-go, he’ll do fine as an apprentice hu hu hu!’

Laughing up a storm, Raxis held his head back before staring at Saren seriously, “Hu hu hu~. You're an interesting kiddie, Saren. How about becoming this old man's personal apprentice?”

Unflinching Saren gave a flat response, “No.

“But what I have to offer is…”

“No.”

Anger started to show on Raxis’s face, “Listen here you brat! I…”

Holding up one of his hands, Saren cut off Raxis, “I wish to become stronger with my own power, it wouldn’t be fair to join you at this time since this is our first meeting. Also, I would have to talk to my Master, Master Mo before I could even consider it. Finally, it is not that don’t respect your power just that it’s too sudden for me to swear to a master I don’t know.

Raxis took a quick glance at Saren before silently approving of him with a faint smile, “I see... if at anytime you wish to learn from me, use this command token to contact me. I shall accept you anytime. If you come to the Engineering Mountain and show them that, they’ll know what it means.”

Without another word Raxis disappeared with blinding speed, leaving the youths, especially Saren, in confusion. Playing over Raxis’s words in his mind, Saren somehow felt that Raxis almost knew he would come find him sooner or later, making him question what made the man so confident. Making him question what made the man so confident he would come. He would have to ask his Master about him but before that...

“Enough worrying about that strange man, let’s dig in!”

The siblings howled in union, “OHHHHH!!!”
