Chapter 16 - Scene 3 - Recovery

Scene 3 - Recovery

The black robed person speeds faster than sound even if the group wanted to catch the black-robed figure they couldn’t. Instead of worrying about the mysterious figure Dela turned her attention to Sol and fell to her knees crying over him.

“I’m sorry Sol! Why did I bring you to this place to show off? I’m the worst!”

Dela’s tears came genuinely seeing so Saren petted her head shaking his head, “I’m the one who should feel guilty I let him run off, as a big brother I didn’t watch him close enough!”

Saren made up his mind and picked up Sol to carry him away back to the Inn, “Come we’re going back to heal his injuries at home.”

Staring blankly at Saren, Luna and Dela followed after him eventually he led the three out and into the road giving his unconscious little brother a piggyback ride.

The boss of the Inn didn’t say anything and even offered the siblings to call a doctor to look at Sol’s injuries. Derk's eyes laughed in ridicule but didn’t dare say anything for fear his boss would thrash him.

A doctor came soon with at the boss's orders and looked over Sol. The doctor was an old bald man full of wrinkles hands shaking. It unnerved the siblings about this man but alas when he saw Sol he went to work straight away taking out tools to diagnose the patient's current condition.

After an hour the old man nodded his head and turned to Saren, “It’ll take one month for the lad’s injuries to recover naturally. You’ll friends lucky to be alive if he wasn’t cultivation he would have died already!”

Seeing the doctor's expression Saren held out his hand with the pill bottle inside, “Will this heal him faster?”

The doctor’s  moved his glasses to get a closer look, his eyes became wide as his body began to shake like a leaf. He quickly regained his composure grabbing the bottle he checked the pill more closely.

Staring at it in different angles for a bit the old man finally nodded regretfully returning it Sarens hands, “I’ve studied alchemy along being a medical doctor, I’ve handled such a pill before and know with no mistake it’s a third tier body restoration pill! If you let the boy ingest it I guarantee you that the patient will recover within two days. The only problem is the boy's unconscious and can’t take the pill. Only once he wakes up will he be able to take it.”

With a thank you to the doctor, Saren paid the old man a few silver then sat in silence with his sister overlooking their brother. Dela decided to stay with them till late afternoon came by, she helped them change the bandages every few hours.

Fearing that if she didn’t help they wouldn’t let her see Sol again the guilt of knowing she caused this was eating her up inside. Would the siblings hate her? She didn’t want to be hated by Sol’s family.

The three took turns in silence caring for Sol by the hour as described by the doctor to check if Sol’s breathing stayed stable finally it came a time where Dela had to regretfully leave or her dad would worry where she went, “Um Saren no… big brother Saren! So ummm… Even though it’s my selfish request will you allow me to come over and help take care of Sol? I’ll come back tomorrow when I’m done making bread! ”

Gazing up from his book Saren nodded in approval, “Sure it isn’t your fault my stupid little brother went off to fight without studying more. Do as you please.”

He already knew that Dela seemed smitten with Sol and never meant to hurt Sol in the first place. Actually, it surprised him that she still liked Sol, even though he got thoroughly thrashed by that bandage boy, ‘What a strange girl indeed.’

Dela happily thanked Saren and waved at Luna before walking out of the Inn back towards the bakery, tears flowing down her cheeks she walked in silence.

Twenty minutes later when Dela left, the party of Xue, Len and Ren walked into the room. Comically, Ren struggled his way up the steps his veins popping near the skin in his arms and forehead. He carried a staggering amount of items ranging from clothing, trinkets, magical items and other junk divided between his hands.

Seeing his brother in dire straights Saren held the book close to his face letting out a small shicker. He wondered who he should pity more? The half dead Sol or Ren reduced to a shopping mule?

Ren breathed a sigh of relief as he gently placed the items on the floor, for fear as not to incur his sisters’ wrath. Then the three saw Saren and Luna expressions and saw how battered Sol was as he lay in bed knocked out cold. Xue and they ran over sacred until Saren and Luna told them what happened. The siblings drew sighs of relief after knowing the full story; still, even if they knew Sol would be alright they were worried. They were siblings of after all, of course, they would be worried!

Rune shortly walked in and entered the room together with Vince who was carrying the sleeping Nena on his back. They saw how everyone was acting around Sol. Instead of panicking Vince tucked in Nena quietly in her bead; while Rune asked in a stern voice that was soft as to not wake up Nena.

“What happened to Sol? Spill the beans little brother...”

Saren quickly told both Vince and Rune what happened and the two had relief Vince then told everyone, “Everyone get some sleep it’s been a long day and I’m sure Sol will wake up as the doctor said in a few days.”
