Rebirth 1.41 - That time I was reincarnated into another world and made it to the end of the Dungeon
I coughed and waved my hand in front of my face, trying to fan away the smoke. My ears were ringing, which probably meant that I had some kind of important [System] message, but I couldn't find anything no matter how many status menus I searched. That... had been unexpected. I stared down at my finger and shook my head.
"I guess [Arch Welding] is more powerful than I thought..." I started to chuckle to myself, turning to bask in the glow of my party member's admiration, but quickly unchuckled as I took in a ghastly sight! Wanda was nestled comfortably in a crater in the ground, curled into a slight fetal position. She was unmoving, and smoke was wafting off of her. This wasn't that unusual, but normally it came from her mouth instead of her all of her.
"Wanda!" I shouted. She... couldn't be dead could she?! Quickly, I appraised her using my [Appraisal (but secretly infinite knowledge)] Skill.

"Thank goodness," I sighed. She was still alive! That was close. For a second there, I was worried that I might have lost one of my harem members that early! I was trying to increase my number of waifus, not reduce them! There were still about 50 or so chapters left before something tragic like that was bound to happen.
I looked down at Wanda again and realized that her clothes were all burnt up, and I could see a bit of tan skin peeking out from the holes in her clothing, at least the parts that weren't covered in ash or severe burns. I blushed and looked away, covering my eyes. W-what should I doshio?
"WOMMWA-WOM!" a voice shouted, barely audible over the ringing in my ears. I used [Periscope Vision] to look around my fingers and saw Bonbon running towards Wanda's psuedocorpse. Uh-oh! If she ran like that, then surely her burned clothes would... would... huh?"
I unpeeked my fingers, blinking in confusion at Bonbon, who seemed completely untouched by the raw power of my skill. That was... odd to say the least. Super fucking weird and suspicious to say more. I stared her down as she bent over Wanda's limp form, pulling some strange powder out of a jar and rubbing it on Wanda's wounds. I unsheathed my katana, stepping behind her.
"You also took my [Arch Welding] skill at point blank range," I accused her, pointing with my katana. "Why are you unexploded?"
Bonbon looked up at me, panic wallpapered over her features. "I... I..."
She looked away, biting the knuckle of her finger, her ears drooping and twitching as a pale sheen of sweat covered her face. Her eyes danced in her eyeholes, looking around this way and that as if searching for an answer. "Um... I... um..."

She looked up at me, giving a weak smile. Her deep blue eyes trembled and began to fill with tears.
"I... I dodged it?"
It was obvious that she was lying. I glared down at the chef as she crouched before me. My eyes flicked to the jar, filled with some mysterious substance. She'd been spreading that on Wanda. Who knew what that stuff was, or what it did. I narrowed my eyes further.
"Dodged an explosion?" I scoffed. "At this range? In that short a time? Contained entirely within this chamber? You expect me to believe that?"
"Um, yes?" she hoped, her ears twitching. I glanced at them, and it was as if something finally clicked into place. I sagged, my shoulders slumping as the tension left my body. I'd been worried over nothing!
"Of course..." I said with a laugh. "Of course. You're an [Elf]. Everybody knows that [Elves] are very fast." I shook my head, resheathing my katana. How foolish of me! I felt almost guilty now...
"Sorry for getting suspicious," I apologized. I shouldn't have been so quick to judge her! There was a teaching moment here, a lesson about trust and honesty. I'd have to look into it later. Right now, I was more interested in that jar!
"What's in there?" I asked, gesturing to the scrub that she was spreading over Wanda's body. She lifted Wanda's shirt slightly to get at a grisly burn on her back, forcing me to turn away and blush again.
"[Healing Salts]," Bonbon explained clinically. "You can use them in cooking to make food with enhanced [Healing], but you get the most benefit if you rub it directly onto the wounds." She grimaced. "Using them that way is really expensive, though..."
That sounded like pretty potent stuff! I'd have to see about getting some the next time we were in town.
I glanced over at my injured doggirl. Sure enough, it seemed like Wanda's wounds were healing up. It was... taking a while, though. I decided to teach Bonbon how to ollie in the meantime, and after a few minutes and several gnarly falls, Wanda groaned and lifted herself to her hands and knees.
"Ugh...wan" she croaked, rubbing her head. She blinked and looked around the chamber, swaying slightly with disorientation. Her face was coated with splotches of ash, and her hairtie had burnt entirely, so that her hair was a wild mess that floated around her head. Thankfully, besides being messy, her hair hadn't taken much damage, and I was confident that what little damage it had taken would be forgotten by the animators by the next scene change.
Now that she was moving about, it seemed like her clothes were less damaged than I'd originally thought. I let out a sigh. Part of me was disappointed, but another part of me was glad that I didn't have to buy the BluRay to get an uncensored version.
Her eyes found mine, and she glared. "Hiro..." she began, but I cut her off with a wave of my left hand, my right clutched piously over my chest.
"I'm sorry, Wanda..." I confessed, my voice choked with emotion. "But it's okay now! You don't have to worry. I've... sealed away my [Arch Welding] skill. I won't use it again, never ever ever."
Bonbon frowned. "Hiro, that's not-"
"No." I said, standing firm and speaking with finality. "I can't let something like this happen again. Don't try to convince me. It's just too dangerous."
Bonbon and Wanda exchanged a look, sharing a mutual expression that was hard to describe. I drew a picture using my [Mental Coloring Book] and resolved to ask Kamiko about it later. They sighed and turned back to me. Bonbon helped Wanda to her feet, and with the two of them in tow, I led the way further into the dungeon.
----------------------------------------
After a few fights that I used [Montage Mastery] to skip through, we came to a narrow hallway. I stopped. Something about this made me suspicious. I wasn't sure if it was the fact that the stone walls here looked slightly less damp, and more bloodstained, or the inscrutable chalk markings and arrows on the ground, or just the aura of the chamber in general. I shook my head. I was too on edge. It was probably just my imagination...
I walked further down the hall, in the direction of the giant loaded ballista, until my foot landed on a slightly raised stone tile, depressing it. The ballista fired, and a massive bolt flew from it, hitting me in the forehead and inflicting a devastating, lethal blow to my hair's styling as the bolt shattered into a cloud of splinters on my [Absolute Invulnerability].
I blinked, flexing wood shards out of my eyes and using [Perfect Hair] to fix my 'do. I shook off the sawdust and turned to walk back to the chamber's entrance.
"Bonbon," I told her. "I think this hallway is trapped. You're up."
Bonbon looked from me to the ballista, which had been reloaded by the Dungeon Goblins already. "Eh?" She asked, looking back to me to confirm I was being serious. "Eh?"
I nodded an affirmative by tilting my head up and down with my neck. "You said that you had some tricks, so-"
My explanation was cut off by a pained screaming from further in the dungeon. My head whipped towards the direction. That... that was... extremely rude! I clucked my tongue internally, ashamed at such a shameful display. The screams of somebody in danger might have potentially awakened some [Hero] instinct in me, but the person screaming was a dude, which meant I was completely indifferent.
I turned back to Bonbon. "Anyway, find a way through," I finished. I waited for a response from the elf chef, but she was too busy looking in the direction of the screaming, a concerned expression on her face. I sighed. She wasn't even listening!
"We need to go help them," she said, her voice firm despite her worry.
"Of course," I said, resolved now that a cute girl had suggested it. "But first, we have to get through! You can do it, I believe in you!"
I flashed Bonbon another thumbs up of encouragement. She looked at me for just a second before sighing and looking down the hallway, at the raised tile I had stepped on, and the ballistae. Her eyes darted across the floor, locking momentarily on certain tiles.
"So, I just have to... get us through, right?" she asked.
I nodded silently. It'd be better if she disabled it, of course, because she'd get more EXP. But, everybody knew that dungeons had a secret back exit so you could avoid the rest of the encounters and traps on the way out.
Another scream careened from down the hallway, louder this time.
"Can I use anything I want?" she asked quickly, looking me up and down me.
"That's almost ominously worded," I replied, crossing my arms. "But sure."
She gave another nod of acknowledgement, then walked behind me and grabbed me by the shoulders. W-what?! I blushed instantly. A g-g-girl was grabbing me? This was... almost a hug! She began to walk, pushing me forwards. W-where were we going? Wanda seemed to understand whatever was happening and walked behind Bonbon, placing her hands on the elf's shoulders and unlocking [Conga Line Basics - Lvl 1] for all three of us.
I gulped as I stepped on a tile and felt a ballista bolt explode on my face. S-she was leading me somewhere, and Wanda was coming too? Was this... we weren't going back to her room, were we?! I spared a look back at Bonbon, whose face was flush, her eyes set and focused. W-was this really happening? Another ballista bolt exploded on the side of my head. Were we really going to do... that? The fabled montage à trois?!
"This is... s-so sudden..." I stammered, as a final ballista bolt exploded on my forehead. We'd reached the other side of the hallway, and Bonbon let go of me, rushing to the door. I blinked in confusion. Huh?
Bonbon opened the door and darted through it, drawing her knife and frying pan. I watched her go, scratching the back of my head. Huh... I guess... she must have gotten cold feet. She was probably too embarrassed after all. That made sense. I was a lot to take in, both figuratively and literally, so it made sense that she'd need time to prepare herself mentally. Maybe my time would come later...
I followed after, and my heart leapt a bit as I saw the statues of dragons, lions, and king kongs in the next hallway. They flanked a deep red, plush carpet which itself lead to a set of red iron double doors, studded with white steel spikes. That was definitely a boss door! We had made it to the end of the dungeon!
I rushed past Bonbon, who was talking to some random guard who was sprawled on the ground and bleeding out. A real boss door! My first dungeon clear! I could smell victory in the air! It smelled like bile and copper and death. I frowned a bit at that. I'd assumed it'd smell nicer, but I guess not everything smells like the movies.
I avoided a puddle of blood and stepped over the dismembered leg of another guard before placing my hands on the door and giving it a shove. The door refused to open, so I gripped the pull-ring and shoved as hard as I could. forcing the entire door off its hinges, causing it to collapse inwards and flatten another two guards with a loud squelching sound.
I strode confidently into the room and took in the boss chamber. My heart was floating, buoyed my excitement, but as I realized what I was seeing, my excitement turned instead to hopeless dread.
My eyes focused on the two men standing in the center of the room. Both were clearly warriors, which I could tell from their chiseled builds and lithe bodies (no homo), but also from their posture, their auras, and the fact that one of them was busy hacking a guard to bits with a sword.
The other figure was leaning casually against a statue, his arms crossed, and a pair of horns jutting from his forehead, sweeping back across the sides of his head like the brims of one of those cool hats that old-time gangsters wore.
My eyes widened in shock. I... couldn't believe what I was seeing. These two... I grit my teeth and unsheathed my katana, staring them down as I fell into a battle stance.
"You two..." I growled. "WHERE THE HELL DID YOU PUT MY DRAGONS?!"
