Mia has been coming to classes for a week now. After her two weeks of rest, where she spent most of her time in bed reading books, she was allowed to go back to the academy with some limitations. No heavy training, be it physical, mental or magical. Also, there is always someone ready to take her to Kat. Mia also finally received her chocolates once she got back to class, something that she couldn’t help but wish she got when she was at home.
One thing Mia noticed when she got back is that everyone, at least during lessons, was extremely friendly and cooperative with one another. It was akin to seeing some soldier on the battlefield in her old life. They might joke with each other, fight with each other, even hate each other, but once it was time to act they would be able to leave everything behind and trust one another with their lives.
For all intents and purposes Mia was completely healed but anyone with a brain could see that something was still wrong with her. Mia was slower, be it physically, mentally or physically. She was having sudden bursts of emotions, not all positive ones, from time to time and to top it all off, she was eating more than Klaws, to the extent that she was constantly snacking on something. The full reason was only known to a few adults. Her mother, The principal, Mirai, Huang and Lin. Not even Mia herself knew what was happening.
“Mia, that's the fourth plate you got.” Shishen said.
“And?” Mia asked, looking strangely angry at the remark.
“...Nothing.” Shishen couldn’t really say anything if Mia was like that.
“Mia, this is not normal.” Narissa said.
“I know but I am hungry. The last time I felt full was when I ate a chicken I cooked with my master.”
“How long ago?”
“Maybe it was so good that you can’t feel full with anything else.” Klaws said.
“Maybe. Well, at least all this food is going somewhere.” Mia said, implying that she wasn’t gaining weight.
“If you find out what happened, sell me the information, I know people who would kill for it.” Cassandra said. Strangely enough, everyone at the table agreed.
Mia looked around the big table everyone was at. Today they got a little late for lunch and had to all sit together. It seems that not everyone was happy with it. Mia could somewhat understand why. But that wasn’t what was really eating her.
Why in the nine hells I can’t utilize my cultivation normally? Mom explained the whole death mana aspect body thing somewhat but she said nothing about becoming like this. I wish I could force it to activate at least once but everyone said in no uncertain terms that I shouldn’t. Mia thought to herself as she ate. Right now she was as physically strong as a 10 year old girl, probably less since she just healed. She could probably use magic normally but if she did anything big there was a good chance that the death mana she had would find a way into what she was doing. The stupid part was that even running too hard made her mana suddenly start to flare.

After spending the entire lunch time eating, she went back to the classroom and then to the physical lessons.
Everyone had their normal tutors and everyone looked way more motivated to get physically stronger than they were before their test. Sadly, all Mia could safely do was stretches and what she remembered of yoga. Once lessons were finished, Mia was escorted back to her home by Klaws and Narissa.
“How was your day?” Marry asked Mia once she got inside.
“I am hungry.” Mia said.
“Besides being hungry. Anything else?” Marry said, hugging Mia.
“I feel like a baby. My cultivation doesn’t work so every time someone explains something to me it takes a few minutes for me to understand it.” Mia said, pouting.
“That’s how normal people feel.”
“I am not normal. I don’t want to be normal.” Mia said cutely angrily.
“Yes. You are my special little daughter. Now, go put on some other clothes and I will have something for you to eat by the time you come back.”
“Ok, Mom.” Mia said as she went up to her room. A few minutes later she came down with a common dress she could use at the house.
“Here, some sandwiches and milk.”
“Thanks.” Mia said as she sat down at the table and began to eat.
“How is your mana?”
“It feels a little strange to convert death mana into other types of mana instead of doing it with neutral mana.” Mia said in between bites.
“It is going to feel that way for a while.”
“How do you know?” Mia asked, innocently.
“Because I am like you. I have a body like you.”
“...How? You feel like Lin.” Mia said, very surprised.
“Because I sealed all my power to have you.” Marry said with a smile on her face.
“Will I have to seal my power?”
“...Not if you don’t want to.” Marry didn’t know if Mia was asking it in general or in specific to have children, neither she wanted to know.
“Oh, ok.” Mia said and continued to eat.
“Your master is bringing something to help with all this hunger you are having in a few days so try to not clean the kitchen too much.”
“I am not eating that much.” Mia said under her breath, blushing a little.
“No. You eat just enough.” Marry said somewhat sarcastically.
Mia finished the last few sandwiches silently.
“Where is everyone?”
“Working, one way or another.”
“Even Mom-Lin?” Mia herself didn’t notice, but she was calling her step-mother in a different way.
“Especially her. We have to let everyone know that our daughter is the best.”
“I don’t understand…” Mia was completely oblivious to the social warfare that happened around her. Even more than in the academy, where she at least began to actively notice how people not from her class treat her in the few occasions that she had contact with other people.
“Shouldn’t you go to your club at some point? I know that you can read books at home but they are your friends, aren’t they?” Marry asked after washing the plate and cup that Mia used.
“If I go back I will have to defend the club. So until I am allowed to fight in any form again I can’t take part in official activities. At least they are safe until that moment.”
“Whatever you think is best, sweetie.”
“...Mom.”
“Yes?”
“I’m hungry…”
“...Let’s go out shall we?”
