Mia and her mother were now in a special space created by her master. Her mom said it was going to train her.

“Did you finish everything?” Her mother asked as they walked to the middle of the empty room. The place was just a big white room with nothing in it but air.

“Yes. I ate the pill uncle Frank gave to me and I had Kat and Shishen examine my body before coming.” Mia explained.

“Good. Now, before we start, I have some things to say to you.” Marry said as she walked towards mia. “First, from now on you are not allowed to physically train unless you do it here in my presence. Second, this will be hard, for both of us. Third, It took me a lot of time to get the courage to do this. I will teach you how to fight properly.”

“You know how to fight?”

“Yes, I was a soldier, a Death Valkyrie. I was part of an army of people that are brainwashed.”

“What?” Mia asked, confused.

“Mia, even with everything I believe that you need to know it but you have to promise me that you won’t do anything about those people unless they directly do something against you. I know that I cannot stop you from trying to protect us but you need to swear to me that you won’t go looking for a fight. I can’t lose you Mia, not without at least making sure you are ready.”

“I am never going to leave you alone mom.” Mia said, hugging her mother.

“And I am going to make sure of it.” Marry then began to explain her story, how she grew up, what it was like to be part of Wanui, how she was woken up from the brainwashing, how she fled and met Huang and why they were now coming for her.

“So you are stronger than dad?” Mia asked as she was still processing everything.

“That is debatable now. Your father is getting stronger by the day and it’s not like I did anything for the last 11 years.”

“People are going to fight for me… Can’t we just leave so they don’t come here?” Mia innocently asked.

“Mia, sometimes you have to hold your ground. If we flee, they will just make sure we don’t have a place to return. I wish we could just hide away peacefully but that isn’t a possibility anymore. If you are angry or sad about it, use all that energy to train and do something about it when the time comes. Also, they will also be coming after me. They don’t like runaways very much.”

“I am not going to let them take you!” Mia shouted.

When I had you I promised your father that I wouldn’t unseal my power unless I had no other options and even if I did, I would still not be strong enough to do much of anything. I will train you as your mother, not as the thing I was. If you ever see me unleashing my full power, you are to run.”

“But…”

“No buts. Until I say you are ready, that is your order. I am your mother and you will hear me!” Marry said very strongly. Mia had to admit defeat here.

“So, what are we going to do?” Mia asked.

“Mia, my daughter. Know that this hurts me as much as it will hurt you.” Marry said with a warm smile on her face then she sucker punched Mia, making the girl fly a few meters back. “First lesson. Inside this place we can’t use mana. Second lesson, you cannot be healed normally. Any injury you acquire will have to be healed naturally and no amount of mana will help. Kat can heal you in emergencies but only if I say so.”

“Ugh!” Mia said as she began to stand up. She looked at her mother with a mix of sadness and confusion. Logically, she understood what was going on but her mother was looking at her so coldly that it hurt.

“What are you waiting for!? We are fighting! Staying in the ground will only get you and everyone around killed!” Marry said angrily as she kicked Mia, who once again flew a few meters back.

“AhhH!” Mia shouted as she got up and began to run towards her mother, trying to punch her, only to be swept by her.

“What are you doing!? I am bigger and stronger than you. Why are you attacking me from the front? Why are you attacking at all? You need to be able to survive first! You can’t be healed. Every injury you acquire that needs to be healed are hundreds if not thousands of people that Kat won’t be able to heal. You keep saying that you will protect everyone but if you can’t even protect yourself, how will you do it?”

This continued for hours. Marry shouting at Mia and beating her up. Not once did it not hurt for Mia to hear it but she carried on.

Mia didn’t manage to dodge a single attack or even touch her mother once. She was bruised all around her body. She was full of scrapes and even bleeding in some places.

“We are done for today. Eat this.” Marry said as she shoved a pill inside Mia’s mouth. Once she ate it a few of her wounds healed. “Last lesson for today. These are special pills that can heal you. I stole those when I ran away and I have a good number of them but not enough. We are limited to one per day as of now. If you want them, you have to survive a day of training without me needing to feed you one. Also, you can only be fed one per day as they are not that effective due to your power.”

Mia couldn’t really say anything, she just accepted what her mother said. A few minutes later, she was bandaged up where needed and they both left the space, with Mia being carried by her mother as she couldn’t exactly walk.

“I cannot say I completely approve of this.” Mia’s Master said.

“She is my daughter and I will do anything I have to do to make sure she survives, even if she hates me for it!” Marry said.

“I will never hate you mom…” Mia said, clearly exhausted, almost falling asleep.

“...I’m sorry Mia, I love you too much. I know it hurts but I will not allow you to be anything but the best you can be.” Marry said as she hugged Mia more tightly. This training hurt her as much as it did Mia, she said as much. Mia’s Master accompanied both of them back home in silence after that.
