Chapter 77 - Slow Rescue.

Klaws and the special class took a moment to just process what happened. Just a few meters from them there was a crater at least 10 Km wide. It was not very deep but it was impressive nonetheless to them. Especially since there was absolutely nothing besides burned dirt and Mia inside it.

After they managed to at least start to process what just happened. Shishen began to panic along with Klaws who didn’t even wait a moment for the girl to speak and just grabbed her before dashing towards Mia. The rest of the special class seeing the scene also began to follow them, just at a slower speed. Everyone was badly hurt and Mathias was the only one who could somewhat ignore the damage he received like Klaws.

It took less than 30 seconds for Klaws to arrive at Mia along with Shishen, at the cost of his legs. He couldn’t feel them anymore and as soon as he could put Shishen near Mia he feel on his Knees and began to support himself with his arms.

“You need to heal her!” Klaws said somewhat angrily.

“I need to check her first!” Shishen said as she began to quickly touch Mia in Various parts of her body while using a spell to analyze her body’s state.

“She has a goddamn hole in her chest and bled a lot. Just heal it!” Klaws said angrily pointing at the exposed chest of Mia. Shishen looked at him with cold eyes, communicating that he should shut up about things he didn’t know about and let her do her job.

She began with some light healing first to try and get Mia’s body for the shock that healing her might cause but the moment anything started to take effect on Mia it would just vanish. She tried again with the same results. Gradually she began to use stronger and stronger healing spells until she was using the strongest one she knew and that was barely enough.

Shishen wasn’t healing Mia but more keeping her alive. The strongest spell she knew was having the same effect as one of the weakest ones she knew on Mia. Keeping the state of her body constant.

Mia looked barely conscious, she wasn’t responding to outside stimuli, she almost wasn’t breathing and her heart was beating very slowly. Shishen couldn’t even get how much blood Mia lost because the spell just vanished when in contact with her.

“This is bad, real bad!” Shishen said as she noticed that she wouldn’t be able to save Mia. It has been several minutes since she arrived so the rest of the class managed to arrive too.

“What happened?” Narissa asked.

“I can’t heal Mia and now I can’t stop or she will be in danger.”

“What do we need to do?”

“Bring someone who can help me here or some mana potions. I don’t think I can sustain this long enough for us to just carry her with us.”

“Then we have to bring a professor here.” Klaws said as he began to try standing up, clearly in a lot of pain.

“I will heal your legs…” Shishen tried to say only to be interrupted.

“No! Don’t stop healing her! If she dies because you did something stupid I will hunt you down!” Klaws said very aggressively.

“Dude! She is just trying to help!” Kaki suddenly said to Klaws.

“I didn’t forget what all of you did! But right now she takes priority. If any of you just want to leave her here I will deal with you later. But if you are going to help. Do it to the end and don’t half-ass it.” Klaws said as he began to limp in the direction he believed the city was in.

“Like you are doing now? You can barely leave this crater, much less reach the city!” Moon said angrily.

“Then what do you want me to do?”

“A professor has to be coming here now. We need to wait.” Katia said.

Klaws looked at her for a moment just shouted before sitting on the ground. He hated that she was right.

During the next few minutes the group did its best to help. The girls covered Mia with their own clothes to the best of their abilities as she was now pretty much naked. The boys patrolled around, sending some spells into the air to signal anyone as well as look for the remains of Onyx. After a few minutes they found a pretty big mana stone, probably the one from Onyx taking into account that It was a shining black one and the only thing emanating any mana inside that crater besides the people there. When it was put near Mia she got marginally better.

“Why are they taking so long?” Luminus said as he walked impatiently around.

“There is no way no one saw or felt what happened here.” Kaki added.

“Even then, there is no guarantee she will be saved.” Moon said.

“Dude!” Mathias said somewhat angrily as he slapped Moon in the shoulder. Klaws was watching them and was clearly angry at the group.

“What? It is the truth. She might be beyond salvation now and we are just delaying the inevitable.” Moon said as he looked at Klaws.

“What did you say!?” Klaws asked as he rose and grabbed Moon’s shirt.

“Klaws! Calm down. We are sorry…” Mathias said as he grabbed Klaws arm.

“Don’t say sorry to me, say to her. You sold her out!” Klaws shouted as he pointed at Mia.

“What did you expect us to do? Fight to the death?” Moon argued back.

“She did it for us!” Klaws shouted.

“Not everyone is crazy strong like her!” Moon shouted back.

“STOP! You are affecting her!” Narissa shouted, stopping everyone.

Klaws took a good look at everyone there. Luminus acted like this wasn’t his problem. Kaki was more or less the same. Moon absolutely didn’t want to be there. Katia and Cassandra couldn’t even look at Klaw’s direction. Mathias was clearly showing some guilt about what he chose, along with Shishen who was doing her best to keep Mia alive. Narissa was the last one. Klaws almost felt rage looking at her but one look at her eyes passed the message that she knew she fucked up badly and for now, that feeling eating her would have to be enough because Klaws wasn’t smart enough or strong enough to deal with his classmates.

Minutes that felt like hours began to pass. Shishen was using her mana as efficiently as she could but it would soon not be enough to keep the spell running. Everyone tried to give her some of their mana but no one was in a state where they could do it if they knew how to do it.

Shishen began to cry as she felt her mana hitting dangerous levels. She was trying her best to help Mia but something was just consuming her healing. Her own weakness was eating her like it had never before. When some of the soldiers she was treating died, she could detach herself from the situation somewhat. But here? She couldn’t as it was partly her fault Mia was in that state to begin with.

Suddenly, a portal appeared near them. From there a few professors they didn’t have much contact with suddenly jumped out along with Mirai and the Principal.

“What in the nine hells happened here!?” Mirai asked. But before anything could be said, Shishen interrupted.

“She needs healing, now!” Shishen shouted.

Without uttering a single word with a stone cold face, the principal just lifted Mia and Shishen and began to move them. It looked like the portal was linked to the academy.

In a matter of seconds they flew towards the Healer’s Building. Kat was waiting for them at the entrance and after a single glance took ownership of Mia.

“Don’t follow me! Don’t let anyone interrupt me if you wish this girl to survive! She is a trouble magnet!” Kat said angrily as she began to use a spell on Mia while holding her in her arms while going to her own room on the top of the building.

Shishen wanted to say something but she was completely out of energy. The principal opened another portal that led to what looked like a house where everyone from the special class was being taken care of.

“How is Mia?” Narissa asked Shishen as soon as she got there.

“Kat is with her. She looked serious…”

Everyone there wanted to say something but they just sat and waited in silence as they were being healed. It was clear that the adults wanted some answers but it would have to wait. Nobody there was in any condition to do anything. Especially now that all the adrenaline keeping them awake was running out.

All they could do is pray that Kat was as good of a healer as everyone said she was.
