Interlude 2: Game of Kings

"Thank you for the gathering."

The dark one said, his flaming eyes burning deep into everyone around him.

"We received word from our mortal colleague that the time has come."

He explained, a card of the world unfurling.

"Furchenstein is infiltrated by the Heroes, Weistrana's reliance on the city assuring us of a quick spread. From overheard talks we assume one of the Heroes is capable of a form of telocation, though he hasn't left the Wyrmholes for about three weeks at this point, the adventurers hoping to recover his body at some point. Can you tell us more about that, Gama?"

The gigantic Monstrosity laughed, his three heads and tentacled body writhing around him as if he had any effort to hold them still, something the others knew was because of his own inability to remain calm, the master of Abberation not controling his own body mostly a myth to scare potential rebels.

"Yeah, one of our experiments down there died, we assume that it either killed the Hero or that he used his relocation ability to fake his death. There is no way we can check on that, given his goal seems to be the desert."

The Ancient Lich nodded at that, his flames flickering for a second as he asked the next representative.

"Lucius, is there anything new in the west? How are the Haimans reacting to the shifting of Weistrana's focus on the protection of the eastcoast?"

He asked, the majestic golden creature he talked to barely lifting his head to respond, the small gesture the main reason they met in the castles gardens, given that the dragon was massive enough to destroy the building with a single accidental movement, something the prideful creature would never admit to.

"Those Idiots will soon attempt a full scale invasion of Weistrana, and with that adventurers guild being led by a Njord, it wouldn't surprise me if they put pressure on that old place from the north again. We still can't breach Furchenstein, as the local adventurers are actually making a living by cleaning out some of your creations, but when the prognosis given by that Norman fellow was right, they managed to reconnect with our southern allies."

A fourth creature laughed at that, the leviathan sitting comfortably in the parks large pool.

"The seas are as boring as always, with only a few people stupid enough to expand outside the central continent, after we worked so hard focussing the corruption on the centre. Not even the gods dared to pass through the oceans, given that that might mean awakening what the Primordials were so busy burrying when they created this world."

Now, a gostly apperation flickered, the creature seeming to be a living illusion.

"The Primordials are regaining power aswell, the Heroes we know of busy exterminating any Champion they meet and expanding their influence. I think even the system somehow managed to regain a splinter of its own domain, though with its Heroes death, that might fall upon us to solve."

They sighed.

"Our Immediate goal should be to support the adventurer guild and make sure everyone is ready to support our southern allies when they attack, though we should beware not to put our trust in them before it is assured that they will come, if the guy that was tasked with bringing them up here failed, that would be a bejond stupid reason to falter, now that we planned our moves for this many years."

The lich stated, the others nodding grimly.

"Chira and I will continue to keep them busy and train new necromancers and vitalists, while our creations keep the inhabitants of Furchenstein from searching deeper in the Wyrmholes. Lucius, please make sure that the Haimans actually attack Weistrana this time, if everything goes well, we can probably have them fight against the Marga empire, maybe we can see how they actually fare against those creations of ours, maybe the Mummies or the Marga can do something about those Elves and their holy magic."

Everyone cursed at that. The existence of elves a reminder how they lost one of their brothers to them, now cursed to be their tree of life, as any movement from the titanic ent would immediately ensure that the gods would strike him down for endangering their favourite people.

"Just a question." Lucius interjected.

"Are we sure they were talking about the Naga, when they mentioned they had allies to the south?"

He asked, and everyone froze. Then they began laughing.

"Who else should they have contact to? The Zissins don't leave their hunting grounds. And you made sure that they are the most isolationist they could get when you mated with the princess that gave birth to the first of them."

Aren mentioned, his tentacles buzzing as his anxiety began acting up, making him overthink the issue, despite it obviously being a joke.

"No, and neither should they Find the Omen, those guys would never talk to any of us, too proud, and they do look disgusting. I still don't understand why the Primordials allowed that kind of creature to exist. I mean, an entire species of Vulture people with a pride bejond even the haughtiest of elves... who the hell came up with them? No, these guys must have somehow contacted the Naga or Marga, these other two would be tier two, that means system Rank three. They have no reason to ally with anyone, their lives are perfect in the desert. Right?"

Chira asked, the collective agreement helping everyone calm down from the sudden shock they had to manage.

The illusionary person in the middle of the room smiled.

"Yes, everything will be ok, and when the primordials return, we can finally do our job properly. There are two other continents to explore after all, no sense in having them fall to the next wave of gods or whatever creature dares to threaten our reality."
