They spend the night in the tavern. When they awoke the next day, the area was surrounded by guards, an annoyed Norman waiting by the entrance.
"Sorry you can't pass through."
They said. Sighing, Goron took the rat bag and went straight toward the guards on the entrance. As they lowered their halberts towards them, he just took Normans shoulder and continued onwards, the weapons beginning to pierce into his skin.
"We are from RAT waste disposal management, unless you want to spend the day this close to possibly explosive hazardous waste, it is recommended to stay clear. In case you doubt our words, you can call our Boss utilizing a carrier pigeon. Any hour we are held up costs ten cnar, staring five minutes ago. Payment is expected for every hour that is begun and does not necessarily have to end. I personally have specific rights to excuse the fee for any hold-up of less than ten minutes. If you would let us through? Thank you."
He continued forward, the text he had to learn when he still tried to get a normal job helping absolutely stun the guards, though the threat to their purses made them step aside, the slight scratch wounds the halbert caused slightly bleeding as both he and Norman left the building.
"Let's bring those damned rats to a taxidermist and get out of this way. Two days of rest and a few cnar will have to be enough for today. If they see us again, they will absolutely have a job for us or attempt to arrest us, depending on the conclusions of their investigations."
Thus, they went to the slums and sold the rats to any smaller merchant they could find, be it food stores or taxidermists. Only after they sold five of the nineteen coprses did a hooded figure approach them.
His outfit screamed necromancer, though a second robed figure approached them too, someone that looked a lot more like a leper.
"Hello, I would be willing to buy all of those from you, two cnar per corpse."
Given that they sold the previous ones at one cnar, they were happy with the price, though the other immediately bet higher.
"I'll pay three cnar, I need them more than he does."
The not necromancer sighed, and as he offered five cnar per corpse, the other guy sighed.
"I'll pay you six for a single corpse. The others are for the necro over there. That way, I can at least utilize its venom for some stuff."
The leper offered, at which point all participants agreed.
Norman took out one of the corpses for the fleshcrafter before they gave the remainder of the bag to the necromancer, the now complete 69 cnar in their pockets jiggling happily.
"I am absolutely certain that they fleeced us at the extermination job and that those rooms Mr.Steinbrauer gave us wasworth much more than he charged us."
They agreed, shaking their head as they left the city through the southern gate. Now that the mountains were visible on the Horizon, their morale was higher than heaven.
"You see that? Once we establish a base of operations, it will be time for me to find another hero. Where do you think one might be?"
Goron asked his friend, smiling as he looked at him, visibly confused.
"You mean time for us to find another Hero, right?"
Norman asked, confused at his friends' sudden mention of it.
"Nope, I think this body here will be cooked down there. There's no way I stay like this in any area that's warmer than here longer than absolutely necessary. I mean, I do funnel ice mana through me all the time to make sure I don't overheat, but still, a new body would be a lot better for that kind of purpose."
He announced, smiling as Normans eyes went whide.
"I won't off myself. That would be absolutely stupid. No, I'll find someone to duel to the death. A heroic ending is much more my style. Don't wonder about me challenging people I don't like to duels once we are there. Just remember our greeting, and everything will work out. And we do have a bit of a track left, don't we?"
Goron concluded, continuing on his way towards the sihouette of a mountain range he saw on the southern horizon.
"You know, dying can't be that much better than sitting in an environment that is slightly too hot for you, right? This is warm for me too, you know? And I wouldn't see my best friend for quite a while. What should I do with your corpse anyway? Don't you want to pass the optimized perks of your current form to the next generation?"
He asked, trying everything to make his friend reconsider his goals.
"My skill demands that I die, and my body is an absolute pain to be in right now. I got an extra fad to better survive in the cold. Sunlight would literally make it impossible for me to walk if I didn't actively work against its influence. Anything sout of here would be absolute suffering. And we have come too far to turn around. Thus, a few miles more, maybe someone I challenge will help me reach rank three, I guess a rank up would be my absolute goal for this life once we manage to reach Furchenstein. Let's see how many I can take down, maybe even become some type of heroic figure to them. I am sure they wouldn't recognize me when I return. But please answer me, where would you suspect that I find another of ours?"
He asked one last time, waiting for Norman to answer him.
After a few minutes of silence, the answer was more whispered than it was told, like a secret to important to be told with normal words.
"You'll probably find someone in the empire. The gods' influence is weak there. it's close enough to bring them to Furchenstein via the mountains or the invading army, and you have quite a few potential allies. Other places would be the city states and the Sacret kingdom, though those holier than thou guys will absolutely wreck anyone below rank 5 that dares to not be sworn to a god."
Goron nodded.
"The third world is always a desert level, and it ends in a big castle fight, with Islands as bonus content and other continets as prequels, that's how I like it."
A grin spread as he hugged Norman, knowing that his plans couldn't be easy to digest.
"At least I'll be in Furchenstein during every run, any plans for what you'll do once we are done with this run?"
He asked, his friend shaking his head.
"I guess I'll just make sure that Furchenstein stays safe, operate that adventuring guild you sometimes talk about in your sleep. You absolutely need to tell me more about that, while you aren't awake, your words are quite muted."
Now laughing, the two continued their track southward, the mood recovering from the depressing topic.
