They stared at the gigantic bridge from the top of the tower.
The only bridge over the raving river that was the barrier between their sacret lands and the south was simply unguarded. Though they couldn't be sure from the distance, not being guarded by warriors covered in shiny armor was a stark contrast to the way Norman portrayed the situation, and different from any halfpast smart positioning Goron could ever have made utilizing his knowledge of tactics. He was sure that a few tactic games he cheesed would have some of the most ridiculous tactics, but even they involved at least one visible soldier.
Not guarding an area this important felt much more like a decision authorities made in an RPG, or the endgame of a strategy game once you are sure to have exterminated an area like this.
That thought struck him as odd.
"They think there are none of us left, that the north is tame. They didn’t stop exploring because they hoped to keep us up here. They think of these lands as impossible to inhabit, basically deadlands. Those idiots would never expect anything to survive up here. Someone put a bit of pressure on another front, and the north is whide open... Norman, either they trapped the entire thing, or they literally abandoned it and thought this station useless."
That realisation drew with it an ancient hatred, one he began to stop supressing as he screamed in rage.
"The Elves, the God's and even those born of snow... Arrogance everywhere. I am cocky and Proud, but only when I can be absolutely sure to have perfected a build or tactic, what those idiots just made is Anime levels of stupid villains, the kind of thing you'd have if you turned Grand Admiral Prawn into an idiot and hoped that both sides acting stupid could make for an interesting serial. It couldn't. Thimon would never have thought to encounter that kind of thing in real life.
Goron chuckled. The more he delved into the memories of his first life, the more obvious humanities stupidity became, and still he somehow was surprised when humanoid species proved their impeccable performance of idiocy.
"They absolutely thought our people were all dead or scattered to the winds. And they were at least partially right... what do you say, should we go in there and just slaughter, or did you come up with a great plan? And don't worry, I'll randomly interrupt you with recommended changes when numbers and tropes don't add up."
He promised. Norman sighing and starting to point at things.
"We get close to the bridge and sneak over. There is no way for us to simply fight unless we get an absolute ensurance that it isn't trapped. I think we should throw stones to trigger any more obvious traps and things that react to movement. Once that is done, we move forward one at a time, you at the forefront to survive whatever they throw at us, and me in the background throwing stones and stuff."
At that, Goron interjected.
"You should try throwing spears and slingshots. Two weapons that will always be better at long distance combat than simply throwing stones. I'd recommend using guns, but we even lack the stuff required to build a proper bow, there's no way we could build anything more complex than basic stone age tools, and even those might be a challenge."
Norman looked surprised at first, and then his gaze turned thoughtful, followed by mumbling.
"Spears specifically for throwing sound great, I won't risk my main weapon whenever we get into a fight, and I can simply throw them. How are they different feom normal spears?"
Goron began considering, before the system responded to his thoughts and allowed him to project a holographic blueprint of it.
"Technically, we just need to make a sturdy stick very pointy and that's it, or a pointy stick very sturdy, though that requires leather, and we really don't have time to tan hides right now."
He said, spinning the picture of a long, pointy stick in front of his brother.
"Do we just kill everyone we encounter and take whatever we can find, or will there be a method to our revenge?"
The two exchanged a gaze, a grin spreading on Normans face that was quickly mirrored by Gorons own.
"They won't know night from day, and we should attack them during the night. That way, they won't see us until it is too late. If we sneak during the day, it would be too obvious. We will eat them alive and tan their skin to coat your spears. If we make them scream enough, maybe they will rise again as undead, at least we'd have a great story on what happened to them, wouldn't we?"
He asked, diabolical laughter escaping him before he held another speech.
"You know, Norman... I don't believe in destiny, I just do what's best for me. There is no way that something bigger controls us. Otherwise, there'd be a champion of destiny or something... wait, shouldn't you know what kind of champions exist?"
The question seemed to hit Norman like a truck, the surprise as he furrowed his brows in concentration.
"I had to give that knowledge up after the last time all of us were needed, so I guess there is nothing I can tell you..."
At that, Goron grinned even whider.
"The next run will be a villain run, but this time, Anti hero will be perfect. In the end, history is a story told by the winners, and the man who made the laws, and the guys down there are evil for driving us away. It hurts me to believe that they suffer for their predecessors' sins, but that's the only way for us to further search for the other members... Should I die, where shall we three meet again?"
Norman was confused at first, the switch in Gorons tone as if he was citing from different poems and songs.
"I'd recommend we meet in Furchenstein, that used to be the southernmost city of Weistrata. That way, we meet in a rather central position where travel is encouraged. You'll have to pass as an explorer or a wandering warrior to convince anyone there to let you in. But if I got anything about the general description, you could become everyone. So, a sign might be important."
Goron thought a few seconds, remembering different greetings from his favourite games.
"May you last eternally is too long, Hail the eternal makes us sound like a Fashistic group... we need something inconspicuous that clearly identifies us. Maybe we should wear a small sigil of our respective Primordial... no, too obvious... let's just greet each other with a 'Halllo'. It's not edgy or attention-grabbing, but it's still obvious enough to be noted by those who know what to look for. So, when talking to you, it would be like."
Goron cleared his throat before he greeted his friend.
"Hallo Ranger, how are you feeling, to which you'd answer hallo Warden. Anymore questions or critiques?"
Norman scratched his head. "Should we get separated, we try to gather the chosen in Furchenstein. Sounds easy enough. As soon as it goes dark, we will sneak into the city and slaughter everyone within.
A quick and easy plan."
He agreed, and thus both began to climb down and rest for the remainder of the day, a slow trudge until they could actually see the bridge this evenings raid would affect.
