Chapter 65: A Request

Preview: Her leaves danced without the wind and her petals slightly curled. She was happy. She was happy for some reason.

“Yes! You’re very beautiful! And cute!”

Fairheth continued with her praise as she approached Sunirae. Her hands moved in a strange way as she wanted to touch the sunflower.

Sunirae planned to avoid the hand and attack when she was praised again. She was caught off guard. It was her first time being praised this way. Her emotions peaked as she felt favorable towards the elven woman.

Eeeh? Cute?

“What’s cute?”

She asked as the soft and delicate hands touched her head. They gently caressed her petals and the owner of the hand’s spoke,

“It means you are endearing or attractive! You make others feel better when looking at you!”

Sunirae couldn’t fully understand what it meant, but she still felt better. Her petals that originally coloured darkish red became reddish pink.

The pause in Sunirae’s actions were caught by everyone as they stopped. The demons under her commands were cautious about what happened to their great Lord and wondered if they should move.

Meanwhile, Yhaele was getting more convinced of his decision to persuade Sunirae to spare them. The two beings were clearly different. Apart from having long and pointy ears, they were different from demons and resembled humans more closely. It made him feel a great affinity towards them and nostalgic about the past.

Sunirae felt very good from being praised but she regained her senses soon after. It was because she didn’t really understand what the word meant and she was also wary of other demons that might come.

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

She had already learned from previous battles that she couldn’t be careless no matter who she was facing and where they were.

“So, what are you?”

Sunirae was very curious about their identity and thus, questioned them directly. She directly went straight to the point, surprising the elves, especially Fairheth in front.

“You are willing to talk?”

She was surprised. Most of the demons they met so far had been violent and aggressive. Of course, they also vaguely sensed that they were different and might be able to communicate but it still greatly surprised them.

“Yes. So what are you?”

She repeated her question as her roots grew wildly all over the place and the flower symbolizing her head came closer to Fairheth’s face.

“Elf, we are elves.”

The answer surprised everyone, but most of the demons didn’t care much. They were only concerned about their safety and getting to eat new prey and increase their strength. For demons, their innate nature doesn’t change even if they surrendered to others.

Their desire for power was never curbed and in fact increased as they watched their masters grow in power.

The unexpected answer brought little change to their emotions but it surprised the three greatly. They had never heard of such a race before, even the knowledgeable Pendra and intelligent Yhaele have only heard of this today.

“Hmm.. What are elves?”

The development was going smoothly towards the direction that Yhaele wanted. He wanted to hear it. He wanted to know if there was a possibility of leaving this wretched place. He wished for hope. He longed for home.

“Well.. Before we talk about it, can you please put away your subordinates? I am afraid of getting noticed by demons and getting eaten.”

Fairheth requested with a pleading expression towards Sunirae whom she felt a great liking towards. Frankly, she didn’t expect much from her request and same with her brother. Simnan took the posture of shooting an arrow the moment she was attacked or something suspicious happened.

“Okay.”

Unexpectedly, her requests were granted. It went so smoothly that she felt doubtful but it was only for a moment. She was grateful that her request was approved.

As expected, even plant-type demons would have a great affinity towards elves!

She felt smug towards this fact. They weren’t called Friends of The Forest for nothing. They were beings with a natural affinity with nature. Even in a place like Hell, they could still communicate well with plants and receive their help.

Thinking of this, she couldn’t help but be grateful that she was born as an elf. She was happy and proud that she was an elf, but she was also sad that their race might end at any moment now.

She remembered her duty and mission for coming here and straightened her resolve. Her eyes shone with determination as she bowed deeply towards the demon in front. Despite knowing that customs and etiquette might be useless in front of the other party, she still did so. It was a minimum courtesy and show of respect towards someone.

With the large numbers of demons retreating dozens of meters away, they were now in a much more comfortable state. Making it possible for her to calm her nervous self and ask for another shameless request.

“We, the Friends of the Forest and People of Evergreen, ask for your assistance shamelessly. We hope that you accept our request and help our people survive against the tides of demons attacking our clan.”
