Chapter 13: Shaking off the Pursuers, Angel’s Grave? (1)

Despite just having managed to avoid a crisis, it could not but cheer. Ignoring the injuries in its body, it picked up the heavily wounded centipede and brought it around while continuing to flee.

The duo did not rest after escaping The Creeping Jungle as they were afraid that the pursuers might catch up or the demons inside the jungle might chase after them. Instead, they fled for approximately 20 kilometers and hunted any demon they encountered. Those poor and weak demons became their nourishment to recover from their injuries and also provided information about the place.

The vitality contained in the essences absorbed allowed the two to recover quickly as they also managed to gain important pieces of information about the route they were taking.

As the Little Sunflower sorted out the memories it absorbed from these demons, it slowly learned something about the next danger zone they'll have to pass through.

It seems to be called Fallen Angel’s Tomb. There was a reason behind this name, it seems that in the last Eternal War, a High-rank Angel fell down the upper levels of hell while invading and pieces of its body got buried deep down in some of these lands. One of its wings fell on the First Level of Hell and turned the vicinity into a danger zone. Anything that comes close it would be purified and burned to death by the omnipresent power of the holy light.

Thankfully, after many years had passed, its power weakened and is only effective in the area where the light flows and exists.

As they continued their journey towards the center of the First Level of Hell, the demons they encountered slowly decreased, getting replaced by slightly stronger demons, just like the one in front.

“Growl…” The Boulder Splitting Ape looked at the two invaders warily. “Growl, Grrr, Raah!!” “Who are you? Why have you come to my territory? Are you looking for death?!” It asked the plant looking thing in front of it that is tinged with shiny black color on its body. It had been abruptly awoken from its deep slumber as a rude awakening came. Invaders had actually trespassed its territory, the Demonic Ape King.

Having this title showed that he had some strength in this strata. He was basically someone who had lived for a long time and was preparing to descend after accumulating more strength. Therefore, when the valley where its cave was located was alerted by the presence of the two, it immediately became wary and ferocious.

It raised its arms threateningly and punched on the ground. The ground cracked and shattered into pieces. The sunflower was impressed as roots surged out from the broken ground and entangled the ape.

The ape immediately felt so scared that it almost sh*t. It didn’t even notice the roots underneath it and foolishly broke the ground, making the roots pierce out easier. It felt a great sense of danger as it blankly looked at the sharp tips of the roots that seemed capable of easily stabbing it to death.

Immediately, its eyes revealed terror as it did not want to die. It still wanted to descend and grow more powerful. It did not want its fate to end at this moment. It hastily shook its head as though asking for forgiveness and revealing puppy eyes to admit defeat. But inwardly it was thinking, Damn things! If you hadn’t taken advantage of me being unprepared and set up traps, I would have skinned you and eaten your flesh to supplement my growth!

“Master, this thing looks dangerous, we should kill it so it won't have the chance to take revenge, most demons would bear grudges towards their opponents!” warned Pendra who knew a lot about demon psychology through his own long years of experience.

“Oh, so are you like that as well?” an amused and childish voice echoed in Pendra’s mind as he didn't know how to reply.

“This…” He was stunned and momentarily had no words to say.

“Don’t worry, I won’t spare him. I don’t let food that enters my mouth escape.” Replied the Little Sunflower in a hungry tone as the dying cry of the ape sounded out. The Little Sunflower slowly approached the ape on its last breath and started to suck everything it had. Its blood, flesh, life, power and memories. As the lifeless husk fell to the ground, Pendra gleefully crawled towards it to finish the leftover.

This was just a short episode of their encounters along the way as they continued their arduous journey. From time to time, clouds of dust would rise from the horizon in the direction of their backs and their pace would involuntarily speed up, greatly exhausting the two.

“Master, how far are we from the Fallen Angel’s Tomb?” Asked Pendra desperately. It has been 2 days and a half since they escaped from the Creeping Jungle and traveled quite the distance. Yet, the place was still nowhere to be found.

“Not far, according to the memories of the demons I've absorbed, just a bit more and we’d see it!” Replied the Little Sunflower with an obvious cheerful tone while slowing down to reduce consumption.

As they slowed down their pace, the scenery ahead revealed bright and warm lights full of vitality. This light appears to be so out of place in a place like the Underworld which is filled with darkness and death.

The two stopped as they stared intently at the blinding white light in the distance.
