Chapter 35: Soleis Ore

Chapter 35: Soleis Ore

Preview: “Seems like it won’t be easy this time either” muttering softly as he munched on a heart floating on the surface of the magma pool.

Sounds of scuttling echoed, breaking the silence and dark atmosphere.

“Master!! Are you okay??” Pendra asks in a hurry and with a voice filled with concern.

The gigantic and dark tree filled with black sunflowers moved its trunk and branches to “face” the tiny centipede.

“Yes, I am okay.” All kinds of voices overlapped and entered Pendra’s mind, almost making him pass out. The voices ranged from low to high, old to young, hoarse to clear. It was as though a cacophony of voices, one that is cursed directly flooded his mind.

Thankfully, perhaps due to him being used to it, or his master possessing some control over his soul, he survived.

“That's great to hear! What about Yhaele?” Pendra’s whole body was shaking as he asked due to the pressure and headache brought to him by his master.

“I’m.. still.. Alive..” a weak voice sounded from behind Sunirae like a candle about to die out.

“Good for you. Clack. You almost killed us all.” I reply as the headache continues to assault my brain. What the hell happened to master?? I knew she was strange and strong from being able to use magic back then, but what is this!? What is this monstrosity looming before us?!

I pretend to act calm and scoff at Yhaele when I’m actually breaking down internally. This is too scary. My master is too scary. Especially those spiraling patterns that swirl as though it's going to devour me. I’m about to cry and pass out here!

A branch filled with dark reddish leaves moves towards Yhaele, startling Yhaele who was sprawled on the ground filled with injuries. Yhaele almost died from fright before realizing it was Sunirae.

What is this freak thinking of doing now? He wondered in fear as the branch crept closer to him, enlarging in his vision. The tip of the branch slowly glowed with a soft white light. Pretty. Thought he before he started screaming his heart out.

“AAAH! WHAT IS THIS?? YOU ARE KILLING ME!!” Pain, searing pain tore his being as the part of his body touched by the branch directly melted and disintegrated into thin air. The beautiful sight he admired was no longer so beautiful as the pain assaulted him, causing him to squirm in pain and torment. The flowing magma in the background accentuated his suffering as they continued filling the hole, creeping towards them.

Is this how I will die again? Why is this so much more painful than the last.. At least I don't have any memories of how I died and could even be described as sudden but painless. But this.. Aren't you just torturing me to death?? Yhaele was crying curses and complaining in his mind as his body squirmed and twitches constantly.

Thankfully, it didn't last long as Sunirae also realized that Yhaele was in pain. “Ah, I thought it’d work on you because I recovered from it.” Her branches retracted and she changed the element coursing through them, switching to Darkness.

Yhaele no longer screamed and squirmed in pain as his being felt like ascending. It was as though he was on cloud nine and the pleasure coursed through his veins and brain. What the f*ck. First you bring me endless pain and suddenly, you make me feel so comfortable that it's uncomfortable. The sudden switch of the situation left him awkward and uncomfortable, it was as though he was walking on a desert and suddenly found himself in a freezing situation on his next step.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

Although he felt uncomfortable about it, his wounds were healing at a visible rate and the injuries previously accumulated were fading as though they didn't even exist. The rate of his recovery was insane and he could only express words like what inside his mind. The situation was beyond his understanding.

Magic - it was the first time he encountered it. Although he suspected it from how he reincarnated here, he has never encountered one nor expected to encounter it this way. Who would’ve thought his first encounter with magic was one meant to annihilate him and the second is to hurt and heal him.

It was all too sudden and unexpected that it left him in a daze. Only after a minute did he finally react and say “Thank you..” in a soft voice. Sigh, I’m indebted to her again. I dont even know why she’s healing me. She's truly unexpected. I suppose I can't try and look at this world from a human’s perspective. Realization dawned on him that perhaps, things will go differently from now on.

“If you’re already fine, then get up and go out. This hole will be filled with magma soon and you won't be able to withstand it.” I warned him to snap him out of his daze like state because seeing him make contact, and even get treated by master was so irritating. Why is he still lying down when he’s already fine!? F*cking impostor.

Pendra inwardly cursed and looked at his now unfamiliar master. He still couldn't believe it and felt like he might've just met another Lord and it is the one he’s serving. It all feels like a dream.

As Pendra’s gaze fell on her, the darkness in her bark and the branches that grew out slowly retracted. Her feelings of destruction and violence - as well as the immersion of having a godlike power slowly left her. The branches turned into dark and eerie green vines and the pitch-black sunflowers floated into the air and disintegrated. It was as though the mana she borrowed returned to its rightful owner and her thick roots and trunk returned to normal.

“So this is.. Magic.” I feel absolutely amazing. I felt as though I was ascending and stood at the top. Everything below felt so small and weak, and I felt like I could crush them anytime. The power I gained in that short moment left me wanting for more. I realized that magic- might be more wonderful than food. It's the first time for me wanting something other than food. My desires leave me in excitement and euphoria knowing something else besides food is worth pursuing.

She stood rooted in her place as she still felt everything unreal. Magic - it was the type of power she never imagined before. Although she used it once, it was mainly diluted and was used against a Dark type creature, gaining an absolute advantage over her enemy. But this time, it felt different. It was as though she was filled with power that could destroy anything. She felt that reality was fragile and just one final push and she could break it. She knew it wasn't real, and she knew it wasn't hers, but it is exactly why because of it that she wishes for such power and make it hers.

This sense of power.. It's different from when I eat my prey. I only gained a little bit of enhancement and their memories.. But this.. This is exactly what I want!! From now on! I will pursue Magic besides food! But of course, let's have a snack first.

She brought her roots to a still intact corpse and dragged her body there. She didn't wish to get burned by magma while she’s enjoying her snacks. Yhaele also moved and climbed out of the hole while dodging the occasional bursts of magma.

Something shone in the surface of the hole as Yhaele was moving and he finally realized what it was, Soileis Ore! He was delighted as his initial goal for coming here was finally achieved, albeit with twists and turns. Hehehe, although things didn't go as planned, I still got what I wanted. Sigh, is this what's called absurd luck?

He immediately cuts the rocks around the ore with his wrist blade and picks up a few Soleis Ore that he could carry with him. Sunirae was already satisfying her hunger and Pendra was also picking up leftover corpses. Nobody noticed or cared about what he was doing.

So, he placed the ores he already collected to the surface and went back to the hole to risk his life and get more. Hehe, we’re getting rich.

“What are those?” Is this bastard thinking of screwing us again? What is he plotting? Pendra’s mind churned as he watched Yhaele continuously go back and forth from the hole and surface, collecting strange glowing stones.

Those rocks look strange.. They look similar to the hearts in that lava pool. Is this guy planning on doing something similar?! Bathing in them? But what would be bathed in?? Blood from his enemies? Our blood?! No! I must tell my master about this!

His thoughts ran wild as he was about to tell his master when Yhaele replied smugly. “This is Soleis Ore, the one I talked about. This is what kept the Flaming Salamanders the rulers of this region as they absorbed heat from it. Heh, of course you won't understand because you are just a dumb centipede.”

“What did you say!?” Pendra’s mandibles repeatedly clacked as he looked at the annoying guy in front of him being smug. As expected, his face is truly ugly and annoying. Especially those damned mandibles.

Yhaele was also stunned as he didn't expect the words in his mind to come out. He was too happy that he forgot to close his mouth in time and ended up mocking the stupid centipede. “Well, I was saying that things are a bit complicated to explain and you don't have to mind it, Pendra. I’m sure your master wouldn't mind it as well, these things are boring anyway.” Fortunately he was smart and immediately made up an excuse to pacify the centipede.

But due to this turn of events, he dodged the disaster of being reported and Pendra also forgot about it due to his anger.
