CHAPTER 3: Valmor the hound trainer

CHAPTER 3: Valmor the hound trainer

Preview: According to information from the fragmented memories, this world seems to be called “Hell” or “Underworld” and it has 8 levels. It seems to be in First Level which is filled with Low-rank demons and the only rule set in this place was- The strong eat the weak. So the moment it noticed the Hound in its perception, it immediately launched a silent but deadly attack to take the initiative. Its roots hidden under the ground started to wriggle and moved towards the place underneath the Hound and Crack! The earth beneath the hound directly cracked and countless roots immediately surged out, intending to kill this hound before it could even react.

As the hound continued to think hard about what kind of creature it was, an idea suddenly popped up in its mind. Oh! What if I capture this strange creature and offer it to my esteemed master? It immediately praised itself for its genius and couldn't help but lick its lips in anticipation for what’s to come. But what greeted him was the collapse of the earth he was standing on and the sudden sensation of losing his footing startled him so much thus it caused him to lower his guard. This opening led to his death as roots tangled up his legs and creeped up to his neck, tightly binding it.

The Little Sunflower controlled its roots to completely entangle the massive body of the Fiery Hound. Fiery Hounds can reach the human shoulder when standing normally and even taller if they sit upright. So the Little Sunflower took a lot of time and effort before the roots completely tangled the hound and soon, the struggling stopped. As the hound stopped struggling, the roots started to drill into his fur and slowly into his skin then its flesh.

The blood of the Fiery Hound started to get absorbed by the roots and slowly his body shrunk and became hollow like a husk. The breathing of the hound slowly became sparse until his body completely stopped emitting signs of life. The hound that was no more than a husk hung weakly on the roots and plop! It dropped to the ground. The soul of the hound slowly emerged and was caught by the roots waiting for the prey above. The result needn't be mentioned.

Somewhere in the depths of a cave in the 4th Level of Hell, A pair of dark red eyes opened wide in anger. An angry shout sounded and echoed in the entire cave. "Who dares to kill the Hound I sent in the First Level??!!" Valmor, the Hound Trainer, a Mid-Rank Demon, who is about to descend into the Fifth Level of Hell is incomparably angry at this moment. He was recuperating deep in the cave because the riot from earlier caused him to be heavily injured and thus sent one of his Hounds in the upper levels. However, a Low-Rank Demon actually dares to kill one of his beloved pets that he sent out to investigate.

Mid-Rank Demons are considered to be very powerful as they already possess the ability to manipulate and refine mana in the atmosphere. Especially Valmor who also mastered the unorthodox art of Taming. He has several powerful Mid-Rank Demons under him and he’s also someone who’s about to descend to the fifth Level, the last floor before the 6th Level, which is also the highest floor where High-Rank Demons occupy.

And as a respected and powerful Mid-Rank Demon, he naturally can’t stand the humiliation of having his pet killed by some random small fry in the upper level. His fury made him want to take action personally, but alas he was injured. But despite being injured, this did not stop the aggressive personality of demons as it took action. He immediately sent out a signal to one of his closest aides and ordered one of the Mid-Rank demons under him, the Shadow Hound.

Although a bit of an overkill, he prefers doing things this way with his experience and long life. And he trusted the Shadow Hound quite a bit due to its ability and way of doing things.

“Don’t worry master, I’ll definitely make the bastard who slayed our brethren pay.” The Shadow Hound’s voice echoed from the darkness in the shadows as the surrounding cave returned to its usual calm.

. . .

At the same time as this was happening, the Little Sunflower was happily dancing on the dark and moist swampy lands like a kid receiving their first school allowance. The Little Sunflower found the “nutrients” of the Fiery Hound delicious so it began to have thoughts of encroaching upon the land beyond the Muddy Swamp Region. But remembering the memories it obtained through the worms, it began to have second thoughts and wondered if it should try its best to become stronger first.

The sunflower knew that its current strength wasn’t enough to explore the dangerous place and the limited information made it hesitate. Without many options, it could only retreat and try to strengthen itself first.

Roots surged towards the nearby swampy area as more weak underground creatures were slain. They did not even manage to find out why and how they died as they were sucked dry.

A happy aura bursted out from the Sunflower as it brought its body around the place with its roots.
