Chapter 36: New World

Preview: But due to this turn of events, he dodged the disaster of being reported and Pendra also forgot about it due to his anger.

Hmm, I have the materials now, but… I don't know how to create anything out of it. I do know the theory from my blacksmith friend but I don't even have tools, how can I possibly test those theories?

Yhaele was in a dilemma. His goal for coming here was not the prey but the Soleis Ore. Truthfully, he didn't have a concrete plan of unearthing them, he knew how difficult it was to dig through the whole place and be careful of bursting magma. So, when Sunirae appeared, he saw some hope of finally succeeding by seeing those roots.

And while he was acting friendly and docile to the two, he didn't inform them of the accurate population and strength of the whole Flaming Salamander race. It was a back-up he left for himself in order to escape the hostage of the trio. He wasn't stupid and knew that him being spared is only due to a whim and him still having some exploitable value.

Although he always cursed the two demons for being stupid and silly in his mind, he knew full-well how terrifying they were. Their intelligence and comprehension goes beyond his imagination, and if he didnt know that the duo didn't have memories of being human or other sentient being, he definitely would’ve thought of them as fellow reincarnators.

The duo absorbed whatever information he passed on to them like sponges. And the most horrifying is they understand it quickly after a few questions and even infer things from it. The duo are stupid and silly but have intelligent minds. And that was what horrified him the most about them - until just earlier.

It was too horrifying, he felt like he could die anytime and he didn't have control over himself. He honestly thought he would die at that point when the pain coursed through his entire being. Truthfully, his entire person was traumatized by that and felt an unprecedented fear towards Sunirae.

He no longer looked at her the same way as before, a silly flower. But a silly flower that could into a freakish tree at any moment and eat him or torture him to death before eating. His respect for her increased due to her power and life-saving grace granted to him.

Although humans aren't the same as demons with their innate worshiping of power and quickly surrendering as long as they meet a foe that tries to subdue them, they still admire those in power. It could be seen as kingdoms and nations would always revolve around a leader or at least a leading group of people that run the place.

I look at the demon stupefied in place staring at his own collection of rocks. I'm somewhat confused as to what he is planning to do by collecting those. Is he planning to eat them? Are they delicious?

Thoughts ran through my mind as I reached out my root towards his back and dragged my body there. I brought my face closer to his and realized his brows were in a deep frown and his mandibles were sealed tightly.

“What's wrong?” Curiosity finally overtook me and asked what he was doing, like I always do. Well, it's his fault for always coming up with ideas that are too exciting and new! I always feel like I’m learning new things everyday just by being close to him! The ideas he comes up with are ones I’ve never thought of before nor imagined! He is unusually knowledgeable about strange things.

He finally snaps out of his daze and jumps back in fear, almost falling to the hole below that was already completely filled with lava. His mandibles clacked wildly and his dreadlocks swung backwards, and his body leaned towards the hole.

Heat assaulted Yhaele’s back and finally reacted by flapping his hands outwardly and lifting his right leg and placing it a few inches behind his other leg, barely maintaining his balance.

“Woah! You almost scared me to death!” Shouted Yhale in anxiety and panic as he took in deep gasps of air. His eyes filled with terror, surprise, anger, and anxiety trained at Sunirae’s face.

“What's wrong though? You seem to be in a deep thought while thinking about those strange rocks? Are you going to eat them? If not, can I try them?” Asked Sunirae in an absolutely calm tone as though asking for the item obtained by others to eat as snacks is something totally normal.

“Uh, no, you can't.” Replied Yhale dumbfoundedly to Sunirae. Eat? These ores? Do you think I have some suicidal wish? Of course, he wasn't planning to eat Soleis Ores. These ores are filled with heat and most likely, Flame attribute mana. Trying to consume these without the ability to digest it would just kill themselves.

“Also, I can't find any way to process them..” continued Yhaele as he sadly looked at the pile of treasures lying in front of him. It was as though he could see it waving its hands at him, telling him to come and pick them up but he didn't have any way to pick them up.

“Process? How?” I ask curiously as another unfamiliar word enters my ever-expanding vocabulary.

“Uh, like, turn them into something by heating them and hammering them. But I don't have any place to work on it, nor tools to hammer the ores.” Although there was magma nearby, he doesn't have an anvil nor a hammer. He could possibly do it out here on the outskirts on these rocky terrains.

“Ohh, so they just needed to be heated and beaten up?” I imagine the scenario and I think I’m quite fit for the job. I take some of the ores, large and small, and borrow a bit of Dark attribute mana from Underworld to augment my roots and dip the ores within the lava for a few minutes.

Yhaele was dumbfounded once again as he just said those words when Sunirae already did what he wanted and needed, and without needing a word for him to say it. It all felt surreal to him. Just an hour or so ago, she was a freakish monster that even Pizon didn't dare harm, now she's just a cute little sunflower trying to be helpful to her “friends”.

His emotions were on a rollercoaster as he continued watching dark colored roots with spiraling patterns continue dipping the ores into the lava for minutes then taking them out, malleable enough for forging.

But the problem is, he doesn't have an anvil! Nor a hammer! “What do I do next? Do I slap it with my roots?” I ask curiously looking at pieces of smoldering hot iron ores lying on the ground.

“Uh, you need to hammer them into shapes in order to create blades and weapons.” Yhaele could only reply and explain more about it; he could sense the excitement and curiosity of the sunflower.

“What are hammers? What are blades and weapons?” I asked curiously again as I looked around the smoldering pieces of iron ores just lying around on the rocky and rough surface. And I felt anticipation and excitement towards what I’m about to do.

Yhaele inwardly sighs but he had no choice but to explain things to the clueless sunflower. And his gratitude and respect towards the sunflower compels him to help. He somehow feels indebted despite knowing the fact that Sunirae might’ve just saved him on a whim or due to pride. But the fact couldnt be changed that she saved him.

He could only patiently explain about things related to blacksmithing, which was just crumbs of knowledge he learned from his blacksmith friend.

Sunirae listened earnestly and was pumped up trying to create the so-called masterpieces. She felt as though she was introduced to a new world, a world filled with uniqueness and is exotic.

She was usually just trying her best to destroy any of her enemy or prey in order to gain their meat without caring for the damage brought to the surroundings. But this time, the knowledge she gained allowed her to see a new perspective which she could possibly use to dive into a world she never knew.

The new and novel things always interested her, and this one wasn't an exception. She was filled with anticipation as she looked down at the smoldering pieces of iron across the ground, as though already seeing their final results.
