Preview: “Hmm.. Magic circuits..” Yhaele softly muttered as he felt something different ever since he arrived. There was something in his body that he felt flitting in and out. It was a strange feeling. He felt as though something had changed but he couldn’t tell what exactly had changed.
He tried stretching his arm and swung the spear. Whoosh. Flames danced in a parabolic line but it didn’t have any change. It only showed signs of tiny improvement as it was natural. Every time a demon would descend, they would be blessed by the realm and gain improvement in all aspects.
This time, due to the large number of demons descending together, the blessing was split between them and thus scattered in small forms. This resulted in the blessings becoming almost nothing and having negligible effects on them.
Yhaele shook his head as he started moving his legs. As Sunirae said, they needed to move. They were already targeted the moment they arrived and this is basically a warning to not be careless in this new place Especially with his teammates mostly being made up with cannon fodders.
The other demons also started packing up. The three chiefs led their own demon army as they hurriedly lifted the remaining corpses of their kin that could be carried while they left those that were too big. Due to their numbers dwindling after descending, their speed in carrying out the preparations was much faster than normal.
Soon, they started moving and navigated the place. They realized that besides the pitch-black darkness they were in, the place around them was also filled with thick and lush underworld plants that grew wildly.
They brushed on trees and grass as they rustled and created sounds that unnerved them. Every moment felt like some demonic creature was lurking in the darkness and spying on them. The atmosphere was oppressive as everyone walked on in silence.
Herundina couldn’t help but ask about their current situation due to his concern for his kin and everyone’s lives.
Sunirae replied by mentioning that they’re in the outskirts of a nearby demon city.
“I won’t explain much. It's better to see it with your own eyes.”
They were confused about the demon city as only Sunirae could absorb memories as efficiently as she did and she did not share that information with them due to the lack of time and urgency of the situation.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Sunirae didn’t know where to go so she planned on getting closer to the city and spy from afar. She would first see if she can gather more information about the city before confirming its safety and enter.
The group traveled slowly, afraid of alerting some demons of their existence. Experience proved that cautiousness never hurts and would only save more of their lives.
Pendra coiled around Sunirae while chewing on some meat. He was thinking about his strength in this place. He had just evolved and gained more power when they were already about to descend, so he didn’t have any time to test it.
Now that he’s here, he wanted to test his abilities like the chainsaw-like legs, a more advanced poison, harder defense and better sensing ability. Pendra also shrank his body to the smallest he could so that he can pretend to be weak.
Pendra hates danger the most and thus preferred acting weak so the enemies would ignore his existence and leave him alone. This would also make them expose some flaws for him to exploit and assassinate them.
He realized that his assassination ability has tremendously improved and this time, he has a lot of potential to grow. In fact, he could feel it at the moment. He felt like he was growing and something was changing. But he couldn’t point out where it was coming from and he could only feel it vaguely.
. . .
Simnan gasped for breath as he clutched his bow tightly. It was a bow gifted to him by the elders due to his sharpshooting talent being recognized. Unlike his sister, his talent in magic was average but had great accuracy.
However, his usual advantage in archery became useless in this dark environment. The Third Level of Hell was too different from other stratas. If the Second Level could be called volcanic, then the third is the shadow level.
“Damn, we should’ve left them by now.”
The elders said we need to find a demon to help us to avoid extermination, but aren't most demons insane?
Simnan thought so as he looked at his exhausted and dried up sister.
They had been chased relentlessly ever since they were transported to this place. They were unfortunately transported to a place near Blackstone City and demons noticed their presence.
Being foreign and alien species, the demons were hostile and greedy for the outsiders. They were interested in the taste of the non-demon being as they knew that starting from Mid-Rank demon, they gained the ability to eat souls.
The demons especially love the taste of non-demon souls that contain so much emotion and least amount of filth. Due to the purity, it is easier to digest and their taste was superb.
Her mana can’t recover in this filthy place. She can’t absorb this dark and heavy mana in the atmosphere…
Simnan thought worriedly as he looked at his elder sister.
“I'm fine. You should take a rest”
Fairheth, an elf with exceptional beauty and magic control, Simnan’s sister spoke.
With them escaping the pursuit, they were finally allowed to have a break. But even so, she couldn’t recover the mana consumed due to the unfamiliar environment and her weak physique as a magician showed its disadvantages in this cruel place.
Simnan was aware that his sister was concerned for him and thus stopped. Being surrounded by tall grass and dim lighting, he could barely make out the place.
His emerald-green eyes sparkled for a moment before pointing to a place. “There!”
He saw a small mound a distance away with a small mouth. Albeit small and tight, they could temporarily hide there and recuperate.
The two moved together slowly as they tried converging their energy as much as possible.
