Preview: “We meet again..”
The sentence reverberated in the air and pierced Yhaele’s heart. He was aware what the monster meant and he knew he's into him.
“We meet again..” echoed in his mind as thoughts of running away assaulted him. He knew he couldn't stay and wait for death, and he knew he could escape as the creature was obviously superior to him in terms of speed and stamina.
“Sunirae!!” The ground cracked and dust rose up. Yhaele kicked the ground at the same instant he called Sunirae. Using the kick as a leverage to increase his momentum and speed, he rolls down the slope surface of the volcano without caring about the injuries he'd incur.
Sunirae also understood the situation and knew what Yhaele was trying to do. She immediately made the roots she secretly dug underground to rise up and pierce the ground where the draconic demon was standing.
Her vines also extend and try to wrap around the demon while Pendra jumps down and burrows through the ground, preparing to deliver a sneak attack at any given moment. All this happens in an instant but the vines only hit an afterimage and the draconic demon was already chasing after Yhaele.
Its wings are already unfurled and producing strong gusts of wind, blowing rocks and dust all around. Sunirae and Pendra immediately reacted and started rushing down. Pendra’s hundreds of legs scuttle away quickly, forming a blur and a buzzing sound in the air. The rocks Pendra passed through get sliced and fly into the air.
Sunirae noticed this change and she felt like Pendra might change from being a Poison Centipede demon soon. Unfortunately, she wasn't granted the luxury to think about what the future possibly holds for Pendra as the situation at hand is urgent.
Her roots and vines wildly pull her position towards her target location, causing the distance she travels to be far greater than Pendra’s buzzing speed. Her roots stick in the ground hundreds of meters away and she drags her body over and the cycle repeats.
While his teammates were rushing to save him, Yhaele was getting beaten miserably by the draconic demon. The wings that he brought as snacks were flung away due to the fight, and dozens of his scales fell across the ground, creating a sharp clanging noise. His mandibles on his jaws are disfigured from the beating as his nose kept bleeding.
He didn't even try to put up a fight and only tried dodging. The bastard’s strength was too much and his speed was too fast, he could only try to gamble on luck to not get his vital spots hit while running and rolling across the volcano’s slope.
A punch came flying to his direction just as he stood up and got hit on his chest. His body flew backwards and the momentum caused him to roll a few hundred meters below. But his enemy did not let him go and ruthlessly followed behind him like a shadow.

Punches, kicks and occasional tail sweeps were fed to him like a tekken combo. His consciousness slowly blurs out as his vision becomes a combination of flames, blood and incoming attacks.
He rolls around on the volcano until he finally reaches the ground. Sprawled and battered. He desperately tries to get up, only to be kicked in his stomach. A mouthful of blood and pieces of organs that collapsed during the fight left his mouth.
He crawls on the ground, again. Dammit, it's just been two months since I came here and I already crawled twice. What the hell is with this twisted fate?! Yhaele cursed his fate and gasped for breath when finally, his teammates arrived.
He was jubilated by their arrival and, for the first time, felt that it was great that he met the stupid centipede and silly sunflower.
Sunirae’s roots pierced the ground in front of Yhaele and dragged her main stem there. While Pendra burrowed into the ground once again, to find opportunities to chip in small damages and attacks.
“Why are you attacking Yhaele?!” Sunirae was actually mad that she was being ignored to such lengths. Having great strength at birth and being able to get through any hardships she went through, she had the pride of someone with power. And she couldn't accept or understand why she’d be ignored so much. Am I that weak in your eyes?
Once again, those arrogant and powerful eyes swept a cursory glance at the sunflower and went back to stare straight at Yhaele who was at the back.
“You do not possess what I want, twig.” He replies nonchalantly as his right hand tightens into a fist. Shifting his right leg on the side and lowering his body and to pose a stance, his clenched fist shines in a bright crimson-light as though it was holding a red star about to explode.
Scalding heat spread all around as the temperature quickly rose and the magmas in the potholes boiled. It was as though the entire place was responding to the ruler of flames and desolation.
“Step aside.” A declaration-like voice and heavy tone came out from the monster’s mouth. “Step aside before I turn you into ashes.”
Roots and vines intertwined with each other to gradually form a big and thick wall protecting Yhaele and Sunirae.
The wall of vines and roots was the reply of Sunirae towards the arrogant bastard who kept ignoring her. She knew she was no match but she couldn't just let the arrogant bastard kill a new member of her team that she bothered sparing - right in front of her.
“Since you wont move.. Then, prepare your existence to become a dust of history!” A loud shout echoed before being drowned by the crimson light and endless heat. BANG! Intense explosions and swelling light swallowed the place they were standing in.
The light was eye-piercing and expanded into 500 meters of radius, destroying everything in the vicinity.
As the light died out, smoke covered the scene and Pendra who luckily survived looked at this view from afar.
Hmm, I can't see master. Did she die? But that would mean I’ll die because she has control over my soul through soul brand.
Pendra was amazed at the fact that his master could survive such a devastating move, one he’d never seen nor heard from any demon or his entire life. So this is what a Lord means… A real Lord, the Lord of Flames and Terror.
Pendra randomly came up with a title for the first Lord he’s ever met and shivered at the thought that they all might die here. A Lord was simply too strong and he knew they couldn't run away.
His wings grant him speed that surpasses any of us. Even if we split up in different directions, he could just kill us separately and that would just make things easier for him. And I’m sure my master didn't come out of that unscathed, so our chances of death goes ever higher.
He didn't know whether to criticize his master for being reckless or to worry about his impending death. Either way, he couldn't just do nothing so he went inside the fog of dust to check up on his master and think about a way to circumvent around this.
As a certified centipede who lived a long life, he was confident that his decisions and thoughts could persuade his master and think up a solution to survive. He only wishes to survive and doesn’t wish for anything else.
A weak humble centipede should stay a weak humble centipede.
