Preview: They couldn’t be careless at this stage as their lives are being threatened. They needed to hurry up and increase their strength in order to repay Artho and they also needed to find a way to hatch the young cockroach. There were too many things on their agenda as worry occupied each of their minds. Not even the usually cheerful Sunirae nor the two bickering appeared this time. They were engrossed with their own thoughts and anxiety as they worried about how they would get through this.
The fight progressed as their numbers lowered one by one. The Magma Golem that answered all of the questions timidly earlier slowly realized that something was off. Why? Why do I feel like we’re only sent here as cannon fodder..? Shouldn’t our masters do something by now? Just why?
It felt heartbroken at the thought that they are going to be abandoned. Especially after pledging allegiance with all their hearts. Once Magma Golems pledge allegiance, they are bound by the power of oath. They wouldn’t be able to betray their master thus, it felt heartbroken at the thought that its master abandoned them.
No.. This can’t be.. Watching his comrades fall one by one by the tails and claw swipes of Ketus made him despair even more. He tried looking back. To look at what his masters are going to do, if they are going to save them Magma Golems one last time.
Behind the chaotic and orderless battlefield, behind the huge and hideous figures sending their respective attacks and battle cries, there - they stood. The towering figures of his masters. The three Lords.
Honestly, none of them could understand how or why two or more Lords would gather together and form a group. From the rumors they’ve heard, Lords are very prideful demons due to their illogical strength and potential at birth. Therefore, they felt utter despair at the fact that not only was their race fighting a Lord earlier, but a group of three Lords. And each of such Lords are ones that are highly proficient at combat. They toyed with them.
The thought to surrender to the Lords wasn't done out of fear alone, but also respect towards Lords. The birth of Lord potential demons are very rare and being able to witness - much less - battle them means you’d either perish or you become desperate enough to beg for your life.
For their entire race to survive, they could only choose to go with the path of submission. They knew they were going for extinction if they did nothing. Hence, they were joyful at the fact that they were accepted. Even more so when they found out Sunirae’s lofty ambitions - To conquer Hell!
They were filled with dreams and pictures of the Magma Golems dominating the entire realm, filling up every space with darkness and flames of their race.
A tail buffed with muscles and scales comes flying towards his direction as his despairing thoughts continue running. Is this where it all ends?
Just as he thought of that, a root came flying from a certain direction in the back. Then a sound of something hard breaking and flesh being pierced entered his ears.
Aaack! A short terrified scream played on the battlefield before it ended abruptly. It was a beautiful melody. A tune symbolizing death and entropy. It harmonized with the shrieks from the battlefield and the beautiful scenery being painted by the splashing blood, lava and thudding sounds from bodies falling to the ground.
“Heh, and here I thought you wouldn’t make a move.” He formed a smirk under his non-visible nose.
Truly, his race is an ugly one. Clack. Pendra mused as he looked at the mandibles and noseless face of Yhaele. Coiled around Sunirae, he stays as behaved as ever.
She shifted the position of her roots as she prepared to provide more assistance. “Well, the number is just perfect!” Her reply perfectly suited her attitude towards this matter as more roots kept moving towards the battlefield sneakily and devouring some Ketus for snacks.

“Aaah, that's it.. By the way, it hasn’t been long since I’ve stayed in the Second Level of Hell but I - as well Pendra and Yhaele are already strong enough to fight, if not kill the demons commonly found. The only ones that can challenge and fight us are Lords, freaks and possibly.. Reincarnators..” Her sweet voice echoed and Yhaele felt goosebumps all over his body.
Does she know..? How did she know..? He was aware that information about Reincarnators was exclusive towards reincarnators. Amongst the information he received from his birth, the one regarding Reincarnators was the biggest and most informative. And most importantly, it specified that only Reincarnators would receive the information. Which is quite useless most of the time since most Reincarnators have lost their minds. Such an oddity seems as though it’s targeting something.
“Reincarnators? What are those?” Coiled around his master, Pendra finally spoke up after hours of staying quiet due to his curiosity.
Sunirae was also interested in the topic as she continued. “I obtained this information just now. Apparently, one of the Ketus who was about to kill my Magma Golem was a reincarnator. I just absorbed his soul fragments and got bits of pieces about his memories! Although it’s a mess, by piecing it together, I managed to decode this information!” She enthusiastically describes how she just luckily killed a Reincarnator coincidentally as she continues.
“Reincarnators are usually beings that come from different worlds. Most of them come from places called mortal or human worlds where humans predominantly inhabit. It is a place filled with light and those things called clouds by Yhaele. I couldn’t acquire any other important information about that Ketus’ memories from his past life but I did receive something interesting! Apparently, a Reincarnator would have extraordinary abilities and potential. If that is so, can we say that Pizon was a Reincarnator? And what about the so-called Lords? Do they count?”
Her curiosity was at an all-time high as she kept snacking on the poor Ketus. Reincarnators interested her way more than she would’ve expected. Especially regarding the world filled with light. Although most demons would dislike and even detest light, she’s different as she can use it and is even good at it. And with her constant conversations and casual talks with Yhaele, she gradually started to develop interests towards the unknown. Towards the stimulus from fresh experiences and new things.
Pendra was left with confusion and enlightenment. He felt as though he understood something and nothing at the same time. So.. Lords are Reincarnators? Or are Reincarnators, Lords? What about us who are granted such titles? Is Pizon a Reincarnator? Questions filled his brain, making him ponder deeply about the origins of everything and Hell.
Sh*t.. I hope they won't discover that I am one. An intelligent one at that. Yhaele was filled with concern as he thought about being found out. Although he wished that they’d do nothing at the time they'd’ found out. He knew it’s impossible. As a Reincarnator, he would definitely be a good prey for Sunirae to gain more information about the human world and might even cause an unintentional invasion towards his homeworld. He also doesn’t know how they’d react learning about him being a former human.
His anxiety made him want to stay away from the two as soon as possible to clear his mind as he took a step forward, towards the direction of the battlefield. “I want to get some warm up and clear them.”
Whoosh. He charged towards the battlefield with a spear on hand and his dreadlocks swaying by the wind. The darkness of the Underworld draped over him like a cape and the red glow of the ground and spear illuminated his visage in a dim but enchanting manner.
A red glowing spear was lowered and dragged across the ground as it suddenly slashed horizontally.
Kaack!! Shrieks and cries drowned the battlefield as pieces of Ketus’ dropped to the ground one by one. Blood splashed the faces of desperate Magma Golems and they turned towards the source.
There, an enchanting red color glowed in the dark. Slicing and dicing the Ketus into screaming and fleeing.
Sh*t! These things sure have a tough scale and strong bodies underneath! Yhaele inwardly cursed. He thought he could easily take these things on just like Sunirae and the Magma Golems. But upon delivering the first strike, he realized he was greatly wrong.
The Ketus scales do excellent as defensive armor and the steam they release effectively keeps him a distance away. The Ketus race was by far the most annoying enemy he had ever encountered.
Clang! Tock! Whoosh! His spear striked from all kinds of directions. Raising it upwards, he brings the spear blade in a downward fashion as he whacks the Ketus on the head.
“Huff, huff. How irritatingly tough. But, you’re dead though.” He sneers at the corpse in front of him in delight as he finally finishes it off.
. . .
The Magma Golem who was saved just now was felt with surprise and anticipation as he watched his comrades get saved after him. His rough rocky skin glowed with a flaming-red hue as flames slowly filled them up.
He was full of renewed energy and enthusiasm as he returned back on the battlefield.
“Hurrah! Comrades! The reinforcements are here! Don’t back down now and serve our Master well!!” His words helped his comrades get a grip in a timely fashion. They immediately stopped retreating and took proactive actions.
Their defensive postures turned into offensive ones as they released the flames absorbed in the cores of their chests, adding a burning effect on their fists and attacks.
This renewed vigor and morale allowed them to continue the war despite the casualties. They just managed to finish off a wave of Ketus when a gust of wind passed by. When they turned back, they saw Yhaele fighting a Ketus in a prolonged fight and not dealing any effective damage.
They were dumbfounded and could only continue fighting while composing the thoughts in their minds into words to console one of their Masters.
