Preview: A weak humble centipede should stay a weak humble centipede.
Pendra was just about to go in and look for his master when the fog of dust stirred and was blown away by a strong gust of wind.
Stood rooted where he was, he started thinking whether it would be a good idea to go out now and returned to the hole he dug before.
The draconic demon spread open his pair of wide wings and blew away the dust covering the scene.
With the obstruction gone, the devastation was presented in a horrifying and beautiful way.
The area 500 meters with the creature at the center has been blown away. The place became a crater 500 meters wide and 10 meters deep. Smoke was rising from all over the place, and magma from other potholes surged, making the hole slowly fill up with lava and becoming a pond of flames.
Standing in front of the creature was Sunirae. Her green shield was already burnt to ashes and her intact vines and roots caught fire and burned wildly. Her whole body was slowly turning to cinders, with parts falling off and disintegrating into pieces that fades to the air. She didn't even bleed as her juices were also burnt. The situation could only be described as miserable.
But, despite her horrifying appearance, she did manage to protect Yhaele.
“Hmph, aren't I strong? Why wouldn't I not possess what you want?” Sunirae replied smugly despite her grievous wounds. Her childish voice was no longer as bright as it once was and instead laced by weakness as though she might die at any moment.
Still heavily injured, Yhaele was originally confused as to why the silly sunflower would go so far to save him but he understood. Ah, so it was just her pride. Well, at least I’m still alive.
“Strong? You? You are merely a Level 2 Low-Rank Demon. What makes you think you are strong? You don't even know magic, and this is probably the first time you’ve seen one, right?”
The draconic creature only scoffed at the little thing in front of it. It felt that it was silly, thinking so highly of itself just because of its measly achievements. It couldn't care less about it and turned towards Yhaele again.
Stolen story; please report.
He once again bent his waist, spread her wings wide, and clenched his fist. Forming that battle stance again, bright and crimson-light burst out from his fist as he prepared to annihilate the two ants in front of him.
“Hmm, but they sure are weird. I haven't seen nor heard about them last time..”
He mulled about the existence of the three but dismissed it shortly. It's not like I knew every demon in existence. And this might be the “Butterfly Effect.”
“Magic?” Sunirae perked her leaves as she finally reacted to the word. She remembered about how she imbues her roots with Light attribute mana and realized that this might be the key to turning the table.
The flames burning wildly on her body quickly extinguished, covered by a warm and soft glow. Her wounds rapidly regenerated and her remaining roots drilled into the ground, squirming.
Darkness flowed through her roots steadily as her aura and pressure continued rising. The long and thin roots enlarged as though filled with something, and the darkness that flowed through them went to her body.
Her entire being was clearly growing stronger. She could feel that she was vastly different from a moment ago. Even her blood-red flowerhead slowly became as black as the sky and her whole body was growing bigger.
Her vines no longer resemble their old selves as they now present themselves in a fiendish way. Their color turned darker and weird swirling patterns grew all over her body. The patterns gave off the illusory feeling that everything around it would be sucked and destroyed into nothingness.
Her vision became much higher as she was no longer a tiny sunflower but more of a tree. Branches wildly grew and dark leaves with reddish edges grew on them. Countless pitch-black sunflowers with spiraling patterns bloomed endlessly in the tree. And the Light she initially released to was drowned by the darkness augmenting her.
“This?” Countless overlapping voices that would cause one to fall in lunacy directly transmitted to every living creatures’ mind in a 2 kilometers radius. Countless weaker demons went insane on the spot and started tearing each other apart, while demons who band together as a race went into riots and killed each other.
“Not bad.” Unknowingly, the draconic creature’s actions paused and his lips curved into a smile. “Although it is not magic, but instead uses the realm’s Dark attribute mana to augment yourself. It's more appropriate to call it Magic Augmentation than real Magic.”
His wings retracted and turned his back on the duo. Waving his hands, his words left hanging in the air for them.
“Pizon, remember that, kid.” He then lifted his right foot and stomped on the already soft ground in the crater, flying towards the peak of the volcano in one go.
Heh, looks like it will be very interesting this time. I wonder how Zeroia would react to this… Anticipation and excitement surged in his heart as he thought about his acquaintances’ reactions and actions this time around.
Remembering the action of that little sunflower, he couldn't help but be amazed despite how many things he'd witnessed in his life.
Magic Augmentation has a limit and if your genes and tissues can't stand the mana, you would just blow yourself up. But that thing seems to have a limitless potential or a very high aptitude in wielding mana. Heh, just thinking about it excites me. This might not just be a normal “butterfly” but a major change in Fate.
The sunflower was only a Level 2 Low-Rank Demon yet augmented herself to such extent without exploding. Just that fact alone was enough for him to infer that the future will definitely be more interesting.
Stepping into the lava pool with hearts floating all around, he places his arms on the side and exclaimed
“Aaah, Fate.” Pizon found it amusing how absurd Fate was. He could vaguely feel the changing trajectories and variables simultaneously appearing.
“Seems like it won’t be easy this time either” muttering softly as he munched on a heart floating on the surface of the magma pool.
