Preview: “NOOO! I DON'T ACCEPT THIS! I CAN'T DIE HERE!” the sunflower cried out. Its life was too short and it hadn’t had enough. But no matter how much it tried to deny reality, its body kept gaining more injuries and wounds. Green blood kept flowing out and finally, the holy light that covered the roots became so thin that it could no longer deal any damage to the hound.
The shadow hound let out a chuckle as the blood-red light covering its body dimmed and shrank. But even so, the little amount of strength it possessed at the moment was still enough to pulverize the tiny pathetic insects wriggling for life below.
Mockery and scorn glimmered in its eyes staring coldly as it raised its heavily torn and mangled right paw. It was the last attack it could muster as its body rapidly shrank and wilted due to the Bloodthirst spell wearing off.
Forcing itself to stand up straight in order to deal the most powerful blow at the moment, the claw that had been hanging in the air finally fell down. Swoosh!
Blood splattered as his pupils dilated in puzzlement. Then its huge body fell to the ground with a thud, raising columns of dust into the air as Pendra got out of its stomach.
“Hah. Hah. HAHAHAHAHA! You didn’t expect that, did you!?” Pendra huffed heavily as his voice loudly echoed in a smug tone. His exoskeleton was trembling from the pressure emitted by the Shadow Hound but he still did his best to act strong in front of the dying demon.
“Why… You..!” The Shadow Hound was filled with anger and cursed at the centipede. It did not expect that at the last moment when it was closest to success, it was actually sneak attacked by the insect it detested attacking earlier. The shadow hound was filled with regret as it took its last breath.
Silence pervaded the air as they finally gained a moment of reprieve. The huge corpse of the Shadow Hound slumped on the ground, bleeding heavily from his stomach. The surroundings were bathed in demon blood as intestines swam in between. The brains and other organs were crushed by the high intensity battle and limbs were peeking from the rubbles thrown by the shockwaves of attacks.

The sunflower laid on the ground, looking pitiful and almost dying. At this moment, one of its remaining roots stuck close to the ground. It was barely visible due to all the dust and mayhem caused to the surroundings. Vaguely, the sound of chugging and water flowing echoed but it was inaudible. It could only be heard by the sunflower as it watched its root bulge from the constant absorption of mana.
That’s right! It was mana! A very high-level mana coming directly from the Underworld itself!
At the last moments of its life, its desperation drove its potential to be stimulated and the remaining roots pierced into the ground. It was nothing more than an action done out of desperation and unrealistic hope. But surprisingly, it worked!
The mana contained in the atmosphere of the Underworld is usually very thin but malleable, making it suitable and easier to refine and absorb. However, this only works in the lower levels of Hell as the demons in the first three levels dont have the ability.
But at this moment, something unbelievable and unreal was taking place. It was too unrealistic as even Ancient High-Rank demons would not be able to do it all!
The Underworld is akin to home to all demons, the Cradle of Filth. It is a massive realm existing between the void of the boundaries of two worlds. It is an unusually powerful plane existing in such a place with so much spatial distortions and concept storms. It could be said, Hell is a unique individual that could contend with any Constellations and Eldritchs and even win.
Therefore, the materials and objects it is formed of are of very high-level. It even has its own system of mana and lifeforms that creatures from two worlds don’t have. Hell itself could already be called a mini-universe, a special domain.
The resources it naturally and uniquely possess, the sanguine and baleful aura, grudge and filth of man, the purest evil, the primordial anger and desires, and lastly, the most common element omnipresent in Hell no matter which level it is - Mana.
Mana is a unique resource that the universe naturally possesses just like oxygen, helium, and hydrogen. But the Underworld had a very thick and heavy version of it. It is the purest version of darkness, the mana of evil. Or so what most people would call it.
Therefore, absorbing its resources would usually come with obvious hurdles, like requiring a powerful body that could accommodate it. This is the origin as to why Low-Rank demons are mostly strengthening their bodies through the consumption of flesh and blood of other demons. It was to prepare them and build the foundation to accept mana in their bodies. And even so, only the diluted and easily refinable mana in the atmosphere could be absorbed and refined for use.
And at this moment, the absurd thing happened to be breaking two common senses and logic of the Underworld. It was directly absorbing mana with its weak Low-Rank body. Not even fearing the crazy consequences of possibly exploding or directly disintegrating on the spot and becoming assimilated by the realm, the crazy thing directly went ahead and absorbed the heavy and pure dark mana from Hell itself.
Oo? Delicious.. But.. Why can’t I swallow it? The sunflower had a strange thought as a new taste penetrated its roots. This time, the taste was very good. But it couldn’t digest and break it down. It was as though it was stuck in its tongue and kept melting like a sweet piece of candy.
