Preview: As it thought of this, it could not help but think of the annoying dogs chasing its tails. Hehehe, I’ll test it out on them to see how powerful I am now.. Then I’ll kill them and taste a new type of dish.. hehe.
As devious thoughts cropped up in its mind, a hurried voice came from Pendra followed by a low thudding sound.
“Master! I can sense vibrations on the ground and air! It must be those evil hounds! Let’s run away before they catch up!”
Pendra panicked as he felt that his life after going outside of Muddy Swamp Region was too exhausting and nerve-wracking. Every moment was hunting, battle, chasing, and strangeness. Even with the amount of rest he gained in the past week, the events prior left a deep scar in its weak mind as the ground trembled and dust clouds formed in the distance.
The world outside the swamps is too terrifying! Everything is too powerful and can kill me at any moment! I am nothing but prey in the eyes of these monstrous demons and evil places.. If not for me having a master to rely on… I would have already died a hundred times over.
He shivered in fear as the horrifying realization dawned on him. He realized that he had no one to rely on but his master at this moment. Unknowingly, he tightened his grip around the stem and felt much better. Only his master could give it reassurance and a sense of safety in this cruel world!
“Really? That's great! This means I can test my new abilities on them! Hehehe! I can't wait to taste those hounds.. I wonder what hound meat would taste like..” The Little Sunflower replied to Pendra in a tone full of confidence. Thinking about killing then eating the hounds excited the Little Sunflower. Although the Little Sunflower did not move as Pendra wished, the tone filled with confidence assured the centipede and made it less worried.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Half an hour passed as the tremors became stronger and reached their place. Followed by burly shadows being revealed in the distance. The supposedly intimidating figures of the hounds looked miserable at this moment. Looking closely, scars and opened wounds spewed blood on the road. The wounds and blisters look like they were scratched, cut, bitten, pierced by a large number of things. One of the hounds even had one of its eyes lost and the other had a broken limb limping by the side.
The supposedly intimidating lineup no longer seemed like one, but a group of beaten wild dogs.
This appearance of theirs relieved Pendra but little did he know it disappointed his master. The Little Sunflower thought it could fight the hounds at their peak but unfortunately, they are injured and their combat strength is lower than normal. But the feeling of disappointment immediately got replaced by excitement and hunger as thoughts of devouring surged over. I wanna eat them now! Eat! Eat! Eat! EAT!
The hounds stopped in their tracks after smelling the familiar trace and looked ahead. In front, a sunflower wrapped by a centipede stood in their way.
The moment the leading hound took a look at the sunflower, it felt its heart palpitate in nervousness and couldn't help but wonder what had happened. It could feel that something changed in the sunflower but it could not figure out what. It could only approach curiously and wait for the Shadow Hound to aid them in this hunt as its usually unwavering confidence is shaken by the unsettling aura that the sunflower is emitting at this moment.
“Everyone, be careful. I feel that something has changed with that strange sunflower. I have no idea what changed but I can vaguely feel that this change isn’t small and could threaten our lives.” The leading hound, Fire Hound, warned everyone as it already suffered a loss at the duo’s hands before.
The humiliation it felt from failing to capture a weak level 1 demon left a deep impression in its mind and thus, remembered to be wary of the sunflower.
The duo in the distance did not hear their conversation as they awaited an attack. Pendra was inwardly shivering as it thought that it may be the last day of its life today. Perhaps, just like the prey it previously devoured, he would be devoured today.
The feeling of death lingered in its mind as the silhouettes covered in shadows gradually enlarged.
Is this how they felt? Is this how my enemies and food felt when they were about to die?
Its grip on the sunflower tightened once again as it became nervous. The sense of weakness and the feeling of impending doom stimulated it. If I can get through this, I’ll definitely grow stronger!
The shaking of the ground gradually stabilized as the hounds stopped in the distance. They looked at the enemy in front and felt odd. They smelt the danger of death and their steps came to a halt. The Fire Hound was indeed correct. Even with most of them having already awakened their magic circuits, they still felt threatened at the moment.
