Daemonium was sleeping in the forest with Sanguisa by his side. He had spent the whole night naming the rest of the zombies.
He named one Daemonium Jr, another was Joe,
One was Mr. Incredible, one was Po,
Another was Pinky, one was Mo,
One was Hippity-Bippity Billy Bob Joe.
There was one named Zeus, one named Suess,
One named Mike, one called Moose,
One was known as Mr. 239674
One was Tough, and one was Boar
Now our half-demon king had access to a zombie army, which is barely an army considering the size. I don't think 23 zombies constitutes a good army, but he had one nonetheless. Now that the army was formed there was only one thing to do: take over the wor- I mean to declare war on the light beings and destroy them all! And he will start with this town. He had to say goodbye at some point after all.
There was a significant problem with this plan though. His army wasn't big enough. It needed about ten more zombies in order to stretch the blight around the entire town, and the only way to get those was to feed someone of an intelligent race to the zombies.
"Sanguisa," Daemonium said as he shook the sleeping vampire.
"What is it now?" Sanguisa asked groggily.
"Can you create some more zombies for me?"
"But that would require killing people."
"Just use some of the light beings around here like humans and elves."
"Alright then," Sanguisa said as she clearly didn't care about the humans. "Can I bring Po, Moe, and Joe along with me? The blight helps protect me from sunlight."
"Sure, just make sure they don't lose any limbs!"
Sanguisa then went out into the forest while Daemonium transformed back into Diamond and walked into town. There he met up with an excited-as-she-usually-was Calumnia. As she talked about how she would much rather he slept with her than with Sanguisa Daemonium was internally planning the assault on the town.
"Stop right there!" Daemonium looked in front of him to see the adventurer that challenged him back in Lies 1 and refused to confront him directly. It's the guy he told the guy something about killing a dragon or something before challenging him again. Well, the guy was holding a dragon skull but that was probably fake. There was no way that guy defeated a dragon.
"I can't take your farce any longer half-demon," the guy said. "Either reveal your identity to the citizens as the Demon King Daemonium Rex or fight me!"
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
The claim did surprise Daemonium. Either the guy was weirdly observant or was so crazy that he believed something like that. The surrounding townsfolk were laughing at him, so whatever it was he could chalk it up as the former and save face.
"What are you talking about? I am clearly the great adventurer Diamond."
"But that isn't your real name is it?"
"No, but I have my reasons."
"Your reason is that you are the king of the shadow people and you plot to destroy this town!"
"Stop making baseless accusations here. You were clearly mistaken."
"I am not mistaken. I am Veritas Verum, also known as the God of the Truth. With my god skill, I am able to firmly declare that you are lying!"
The other townspeople accused him of being delusional but Daemonium was a bit scared for his life. If this guy was telling the truth then Daemonium would probably be wiped off the face of the map. So much for being the only heir to live. Speaking of heirs, that is something he doesn't have. Without an heir who would lead his people? They might even be driven to extinction. And why the hell wasn't Calumnia saying anything? Whatever it was he still needed to get out of the situation safely and prepare an heir before facing him.
"Don't you remember what I said last time," Diamond said. "To kill a dragon."
"You never said that though. All you said was to bring a dragon skull, so I bought one for you."
"What I meant was to kill one," Diamond said with a facepalm. "If you aren't strong enough to kill one you aren't worth my time, probably aren't even a god, to begin with."
"Just because I used some of my money on a skull doesn't mean I'm not powerful."
"Why don't you go prove it by actually killing a dragon."
"Maybe I should prove it," Veritas said while his sword glowed a bright orange color. "By destroying you!" He slammed the sword into the ground with such intensity that the ground in front of him had completely shattered. Daemonium was lucky enough that the attack had completely missed him, but a few rocks still scratched him on his fake armor.
"FIGHT ME!" The guy yelled while doing the spell again and again, firing any shockwaves to the constantly dodging Daemonium.
"KILL HIM DIAMOND!" Calumnia just cheered on from the sidelines.
"There is no need to fight," Diamond tried to say. "Use your words, not your sword."
"I'LL USE WHATEVER I WANT TO USE!" Veritas rushed forth at a blinding speed with his sword in hand and stabbing to the side expecting Diamond to dodge. When Diamond didn't dodge and stayed put he tried to stab him in the head, which he proceeded to dodge by going to the right and running. Veritas reacted to this by throwing a Lightning Bolt at the demon, who ducked under it by tripping on a conveniently placed pebble. Veritas attempted to use this as a chance to stab the half-demon but barely missed when a small gust of wind knocked him off balance.

Daemonium couldn't care less about that as he ran into the forest to get as far away as he could from a Lightning Bolt spamming Veritas.
"COME BACK HERE SO I CAN KILL YOU!" Veritas ran into the forest after Daemonium with incredible speed that the half-demon had no chance of matching. His sword then glowed with a blue glow and a holy aura surrounded his weapon.
"HEAVENLY STRIKE!" He slammed the weapon down, causing a large burst of holy energy to come forth and explode.
