Jabberwocky 1

Jabberwocky 1

It has been a week since the Diamond encounter. For whatever reason, it was really hard for Krys to get her mind off of him. She'd think of him in the shower, in the guild, in the bed, in the frog's mouth, anywhere and everywhere he wouldn't get out of her mind. She would unintentionally start to bring him up in conversations, or find herself drawing his portrait instead of writing down what she tried to write. She simply needed a distraction.

Pan also needed something new. His brother was now re-promoted back into godhood, leaving him with practically nothing left to do. He could kill monsters, but that ended up boring and repetitive. He could use this as a chance to relax, but he would just end up bored. He could have a good fuck, but no one wanted to fuck him. He needed a distraction.

Stercus was busy grinding his levels. His Magical Endurance stat was now at 20, so he needed it up 5 points if he wanted the Fire Machine Gun spell he desired. He was also around halfway to level 15, which was another requirement. If he kept at it he could probably reach the requirements in less than two weeks, but that was only if he kept going at it with his full attention. He really didn't need a distraction.

So unfortunately for Pan and Krys, he wasn't willing to take a break.

"Come on please?" Krys had begged and begged for the last hour or so. "Going to the beach isn't a bad idea."

"Can I train there?"

"Well no, bu-"

"Then why should I bother?" Stercus was staring intently at the quest board to find a quest to help him train.

"The beach has hot chicks," Pan said. "And hot dudes. Don't you want to see them?"

"Just give them some ice or something, I don't care how hot they are, I need to level up."

"You know what I mean by hot right?"

"Hot is an adjective in the English language defined by an object having a high degree or temperature."

"That's not what I meant."

"Look Stercus," Krys pleaded. "Maybe you would like to have fun in the water or something?"

"No. Water brings back memories of the Water Boar encounter. I don't want to remember that."

"Oh," Krys went completely silent as if completely regretting her action. "I'm sorry about that."

"Sorry about what?"

"Bringing back bad memories."

"Bad memories?"

"You know, the Water Boar encounter. It was traumatic, wasn't it?"

"Oh, yeah whatevs."

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'YEAH WHATEVS'!!?"

"I just don't want to remember the one that got away. It was so close too."

Krys was furious. Pan originally suggested to leave him and go by themselves, but Krys was concerned that something may happen to Stercus if they didn't watch. However, they have been doing this for around an hour and haven't been able to convince the boy. He was also surprisingly indecisive as he was at the quest board for about this long as well.

Stercus wanted to train, but he wasn't fond of just killing even more slimes and goblins and cows and toads. He was getting bored with it, but most of the quests would ask to kill those same monsters again and again. If only there were something new to burn...

The receptionist walked over to the board to post a new kill quest involving some creature known as a jabberwocky.

Luck stat increased due to special action!

LCK +5

Well, that was easy.

"Um ma'am," Stercus spoke to the receptionist. "What's a jabberwocky?"

"They are small, slimy blobs of sort," she explained. "Around the beginning of the fall months is their migration season, so you often get kill quests from farmers who want them dead."

"So they eat all of the farmers' crops?" Asked Krys.

"No. They eat the farmers."

"Excuse me, but what?"

"These small blobs will eat any sort of meat that enters their path. Large packs of them will tirelessly chase down any individual foolish enough to run, and then suck out the meat and juices until the prey is a literal skeleton."

"Oh..."

"They mostly just eat their cows and horses though, so you probably won't have to worry."

"Ummm, okay I guess."

"It's decided then," Stercus proclaimed. "I'll take this one!"

"Alright. Come with me for a moment."

The two went to the receptionist desk in order to make the quest official.

"If that kid wants to die," Pan said. "He's dying by himself." Pan tried to walk away.

Krys intercepted him, head low to the ground and hands clasped. "Could you maybe," she said. "Just maybe," she said. "Maybe from the bottom of her heart," she then said afterwords. "Please reconsider?" said she.

"No," was Pan's only reply as he walked away.

"Come on," Krys said, grabbing onto the back collar. "You don't want the boy to die, do you?"

"He's walking into his own death and there isn't anything I can do to stop him. I don't want to die too."

"Please," Krys said.

"No," Pan replied.

"Please," Krys said.

"No," Pan replied.

"Please," Krys said.

"No," Pan replied.

"Please," Krys said.

"No," Pan replied.

"Please," Krys said.

"No," Pan replied.

"Please," Krys said.

"No," Pan replied.

"Plea-" Actuall, this is getting annoying, so I'll just say Krys said please so many times that Pan gave up and agreed.

"Yay!" Krys jumped up and celebrated to hear Pan say yes. "Time to help Stercus!"

"Speaking of the kid," Pan pointed out. "Where is he?"

Currently, Stercus was nowhere to be found.

Actually, he could be found, but not in the guild.

He was in the village, rushing towards the forest where the Jabberwocky were.
