Intermission: A Cool Fight Scene is Cool

"Mom," some dumb kid said as he watched his mom getting food in the market. "I'm bored."

"Shut up Edus," the mom said as she tried to figure out which watermelon was the wateriest and meloniest in order to get her money's worth.

The kid sat down, bored out of his mind as he looked up to see an amazing sight.

You see, for years this kid had wanted to grow up to be a knight. He wanted to fight evildoers and destroy them with powerful sword skills and awesome magic. He would even get into pretend fights with his brother as they dreamed that one day it wouldn't have to pretend.

Well right in front of him was everything he wanted his future to be.

In front of him, he could see some powerful looking dude jump many feet into the air and rain pillars of light on what looked like a fox trying desperately to escape. It seemed like the guy's brothers were helping out as well. Maybe they were triplets, no, quadruplets. A fourth one was trying to shoot the fox from the ground with arrows of light.

"Mom look," Edus said as he tugged on his mom's shirt and pointed at the awesomeness. "It's a cool magic battle!"

"Not now Edus," his mom replied while being preoccupied with the radishes in front of her.

Having given up on getting his mom to spectate Edus looked back at the battle ahead of him. In front of him was a vast forest with so many trees it looked like an ocean, and yet the combatants leaped over them like Naruto characters.

He saw the magic guy chasing the fox and sending what looked like spears of electricity at it. The fox dodged them before one seemed to go straight through it. It looked as if the fox disappeared in a puff of smoke though, and at that moment a long green arm of sort grabbed one of the magic guys by surprise and flung him away.

The green arm quickly disappeared as the unaffected magic guys create pillars of light everywhere in an attempt to bait out the hidden opponents. Edus watched intensely as he noticed trees getting blown to bits and the ground completely shattering. His dream was to be that powerful after all.

He then noticed something walking close by. It was a purple and black thing that smelled as if it were rotten. In fact, it also looked like something that shouldn't be alive. It had long hair, two small horns, and was also watching the battle quite intensely.

Suddenly, without warning one of the magic guys ran over to the purple dude so fast it seemed as if he teleported. He slammed his sword down on it, and it barely dodged the slash that created a huge shockwave and destroyed many of the stands and buildings behind it.

"Mom," Edus said more eagerly as he pointed towards the magic guy and the purple dude. "You've got to see this!"

"Quiet Edus," his mom said as she tried to figure out how to save 15% or more on car insurance.

Edus decided to just continue watching the battle. People were either running away or watching in awe as the purple dude dodged even more grand strikes from the magic guy. He smashed through many more food stands and created large craters, but the purple dude was somehow still able to avoid it. The magic guy slashes horizontally but the purple dude jumps over it and a neon green bracelet on its wrist turns itself into a long rope connected to the trees in the distance. Like Spider-Man the purple dude uses the green rope to go all the way into the forest. The magic guy that attacked him near the food stands shot four spears of light at him and another magic dude within the forest tries to attack from the other side, but the purple dude swings out of the way just in time for all four spears to get completely nailed into the magic dude.

The way the magic guy was penetrated didn't seem normal. Sure blood oozed out but his skin cracked as if it were made of glass or something similar. The spears were quite large after all, with one going in the left eye and out the back of the neck. One went straight through the stomach, while the other almost completely tore off his right arm. The last one had penetrated the left leg and passed through the right leg right behind it.

The skewered magic guy was in shock, so much so that he wasn't able to react to the purple dude quickly roundhouse kicking his head down to the ground. His skull shattered in a similar glass-like manner to before, and blood spilled out all over. While this may sound like this would belong in a fiction marked for gore to some, I assure you that as long as you think of his head as a glass sculpture with a pool of blood inside you would have stayed faithful to canon without being weird or disturbing. I mean, there wasn't even a brain in there. Actually, now that I think about it that might be weird or disturbing. Oh well...

Edus wasn't disturbed by this though. Like some kids these days he just thought it was awesome. He stared intently, aching for more actio-

"Edus," his mom said as he yanked his hand away. "We're leaving."

Edus tried to go back but his mom just sighed and pulled him along, saying something cliche about the troubles of parenting or something to gain sympathy from the adults reading with their children. Edus was sad he had to go, but it had strengthened his conviction, and Edus knew now that he had to become a knight in the future no matter what.

Unfortunately for him, he's a side character so he practically has no life outside this chapter. So I'd say there's no way he'll make it.
