The 39th floor was the exact same as the previous two, just replace the hot/electric floor with one that freezes you solid. If Green Daemonium wasn't half mimic it'd be a popsicle now. The only reason it wasn't dead already was literally because of better genetics.
Absconditus didn't waver however, leaping through the air and dangling off the tiny string holding the key in the air. He snapped the key off the string, throwing it straight into the exit door's keyhole and opening it instantly. And before the other Daemoniums and Sanguisa could risk their lives he leapt over to them and threw them right into the door. One by one they went straight into the door, before the assassin jumped through himself.
"Ever get that feeling of deja vu?" Daemonium felt a bit off about the situation.
"Deja vu?" Sanguisa laughed. "The situation might as well be exactly the same. It's like the person designing the tower ran out of ideas. If I saw another floor like that I'd die of anger!"
"Don't insult the person who made the tower, whoever it was. If they heard you I'm sure they'd be crying themselves to sleep right now!"
"Good. Keep them crying."
Daemonium fake cried while Sanguisa laughed and the Daemoniums watched. Absconditus looked back with a smile. It looked fun to joke around with friends, maybe he should've tried that back when he had them.
The 40th floor was the same thing but with an electric floor that was superheated and supercooled at the same time.
Sanguisa almost died that day.
----------------------------------------
"Slave?" Absconditus didn't believe what he was hearing. "What are you talking about?"
The elf leaned back in her chair, looking like she had no care in the world while the creeper in front of her was completely breaking down. "If you are going to talk to me," she said sternly. "You need to remember to call me master."
"M-master..." Absconditus could barely speak, still processing everything. "What do you mean slave?"
"I mean exactly what I mean. You belong to me, and you will do whatever I want you to do. Do you understand?"
Absconditus couldn't speak. His parents would tell him scary stories about being captured and becoming a slave, telling the young boy he'd be forced to work and work all day until he died. He may not have known the full extent of how bad this was going to be, but he was still upset so it's still bad.
"Before I can put you to work though you're going to have to learn a few spells." The elf finally stopped relaxing and got out of her chair, walking up to Absconditus's cage and placing her hand on his forehead.
A faint glow appeared from her hand, and Absconditus felt a warm feeling flush over his body. It was a magical feeling of sort, like he was putting on some warm underwear that just came out of the dryer. And a few boxes seemed to open up in his face.

Now that her slave was equipped with basic spells she wanted him to have the elf just went back to her chair and lazed around like before.
"So for your first task," she said, opening a bag of chips and munching on them with her mouth open like a disgusting slob. I hate her already. "I want you to kill the demon king."
Absconditus had mentally checked out by this point. "What?"
The elf sighed. "Creepers are even more dull than I thought. Listen, your parents told you about where the capitol building is, right?"
"No... I mean no master."
"Then you learned about it in school?"
"It's been years since I've been to school master."
"Have your friends talked about the demon king at all!?"
"Does my friend Curto count master? He was the king of the big rock we found."
The elf felt like slamming her head against the wall but unfortunately she just kept her cool.
"Listen," she said. "We are in the middle of war, and I want you to end it by killing a very important demon."
"But I don't want to kill someone master."
"It's just a demon, it's like killing an annoying cockroach."
"But... but..." Absconditus's voice wavered. "They're just other shadow people, just like me. Master, I don't think I'd be able to-"
"Stop right there." The elf got up, walked over to Absconditus's cage, and put her hand on his head yet again.
In an instant Absconditus felt an intense electrical pain. It was like the torture used back when he was being trained, only worse. If he knew what it was like to get struck by lightning, he'd describe it as getting struck by 500 strikes of lightning. Unfortunately he didn't, so he had no words to describe it.
"So," the elf said. "Will you kill him?"
"Yes!" Absconditus was in tears, shaking and shaking in pain.
"Yes who?"
"Yes master! Yes master!"
"Good." The electricity stopped, and Absconditus completely collapsed. The elf just walked back to her desk. "I'll drop you there tomorrow, make sure he dies."
The candle was lifted off the desk and blown out before the elf walks upstairs, leaving Absconditus in a cold metal cage in the dark.
