Volume 4
Chapter 05: Desperation
================================
He did not stop, even though he thought that he was too late, he went on to the fly!
Instead of giving up on her, Siva kicked once more and felt the force of the Formula Wyvern’s flapping wings scrap out the momentum of his acceleration. It hurt, but there was something else that he felt on the small moment of violent connection.
He felt a jolt of electricity escape his fingertips and he knew that it traveled across the monster‘s body. The Formula screamed as his body convulsed as if it was electrocuted in midair.
He saw Agatha shielding herself from the mouth with a single arm’s strength holding a staff. She wasn’t bitten and managed to stay alive but it was just a matter of time before she was overpowered.
But at least she was alive. Very alive. And the monster trembled while the staff is still in its mouth.
Agatha fought back. She pushed with all her might as they both began to fall towards the ground.
Siva wasted no time and dived down to follow them.
He snatched her away from the big jaws of the monster and hugged her tight as he flew away. But upon contact, Agatha let go of a painful moan that did not escape Siva’s ears.
“You can make it!” He told her and looked back again, kicking the air with an expression of worry. The two conversed without looking at each other as Siva was too busy finding a way to survive.
“Don’t worry about me, it’s not much painful. I was just surpri—argh!”
“Lying won’t help, the wound is deep. Just start healing yourself already!”
“I can’t. Not when we’re flying. Ah!”
Siva glanced over at Agatha and she was serious. She was bleeding. She was not alright.
A scream from behind Siva took the moment away from them and he looked back to see the nearest from a flock of four Formula Wyverns from the left side was raging its way towards them in full speed.
There were four of them earlier but there was only three of them left. The one he accidentally paralyzed earlier fell onto the sea of monsters in the forest floor and was probably already been devoured.
Like a horse the nearest Formula was galloping on the wind, a trail of dripping saliva escaping its dragon mouth. His wings flapping over and over, its whole body tearing the wind barrier apart.
The sound alone was enough to cause one nightmare. In a situation where you escape with your life on the line, the sound of flapping wings tearing air, with the chorus of the monsters roaring and growling at each other, was just too much for one to maintain sanity.
Desperation was the most logical and the most natural thing to happen. To run or fly away is normal. And you could only wish that you could turn away faster for you to leave the horror behind.
“Shit.”
Agatha let go of another moan.
Siva wasn’t gripping her body harder, the groan was caused by her bleeding wound. Even if it’s said that it was diminished by 40-70% according to the user’s own personal specs, the fact that it was a consciously painful wound remained the same.
All the more if the victim is aware of it, the pain is amplified and the agony felt more real.
Siva also knew the reason why Agatha hasn’t logged out yet. That’s because if she does, then there’d be no way of helping her avatar escape the torrent of danger.
What if she dies?
It was the largest question in Agatha’s head, he knew, and that’s the biggest reason why she can’t log out.
Not only items would be lost. As a rare high leveled healer, even throughout Terroa, she can’t risk losing all her skills and MODs, equipments, and rare accessories. Volt’s team needed her that badly.
Siva clicked his tongue. His speed is reduced by half and the Formula is gaining distance really fast. He called in for Volt but he was a considerable leaping distance up front along with the other two women.

Their situation wasn’t ideal, not even in an ideal escape setting that coincides with an ideal worst case scenario.
Surrounded by monsters, inside a royal rumble ring the size of the sky, an escape plan that doesn’t have formal planning and is just comprised of just a straight shot to safety and nothing more, is just too…
“Great.”
Siva clicked his tongue for the umpteenth time because of the rising displeasure.
Frustration is reaching its peak.
And as if to irritate him more, Agatha made a move that looked like a falling motion and Siva followed her only to realize that she saved them both from a burst of hot water that came from below.
He did not escape that without damage. He could feel that there was damage received on his left leg.
When he looked back down, there was a monster there, a land-fish monster complete with six legs, red skin, fins, fish tails, and multiple eyes. It wasn’t alone, there were four-five of them, and the last one just jumped and tried to grab them by its mouth that expanded twice its own size.
He swerved left, rolling, and kicked the air again that made Agatha groan in pain and him in vex.
Siva looked back and the mountain of the monsters lurking below was running and following their direction on the ground. The sky wyverns, flying higher than the Formula, and the Formula’s flock flying faster than all the rest, were behind them.
Everyone seemed to have noticed the presences of the most delicious meals in the forest as of time.
“Shit. We got to get away fast!”
BANG! BANG! BANG…!
He shot out bullets on the chasing ground monsters, and the jumping sky shooters, irritated, and gritting his teeth in frustration.
He managed to save Agatha but on her condition, she can’t fly and his speed is dropped significantly. What more, he can’t even use both his arms to shoot down the bastards chasing their tail.
Not only they were left behind by their lead group, they were also in the middle of a monster-food festival.
He can’t fly higher, it’s the sky wyverns’ territory. He can’t fly too low, the chasing monsters below would catch them. Moreover, he can’t fly like this, in this level of height either. It’s where the fastest predators in the sky were all gathering to take feed.
They also can’t go back, the dragon might take that as trespassing and punish them faster than any of these mobs could in seconds.
Siva’s mind was in turmoil. Frustration and annoyance was gathering on his chest. He could feel his pulses get higher and higher, he was sweating, he was breathing hard and he was getting tired thinking of ways to get out of his messed up situation.
He dodged again, feeling that there were danger coming from below and above. He swerved a hard right, then rolled over in a steep counter arc, he was diving, rising, until he kicked off the air and sped up like a finisher.
Monsters were attacking them one after another. All of them, their attacks, hard to dodge each and every time.
Siva just couldn’t find any opportunity to explode and eradicate them all.
His senses heightened again, Siva consciously felt that his time had began to take a little bit slow. He could, in his condition and in this situation, feel the intent of the monsters coming from every direction pointed at them.
The speckles of hairs on his skin rising like a goose’s, he could feel the cold intent ready to devour them, he can feel their hunger crawling on his spine. A different kind of fear hugged him. It was the fear of imminent demise.
Bright ideas for escape shunned off his head. All he could do is follow his instincts and move his body according to the feelings he could sense.
But it wasn’t a free activity. He could feel his breathing getting short. It wasn’t easy dodging multiple attacks every 20 seconds. Even just the act of sensing them is a difficult task on its own.
For there are just too many murderous sensations that triggers his radar, he had to consciously filter them and separate the furthest ones to the most imminent ones from his location. That alone required concentration of unimaginable level and a constant one at that.
And yet, he also had to move. He had to dodge. He had to think a way to get out of this messed up situation while actually taking care not to bleed Agatha to death.
Siva knew that the Killing Zone can save them but he can’t risk using it now that he was carrying Agatha on his arms. It’s a simple tactic. Be the bait. But it won’t work, not at this moment.
He tried his best to catch up to Volt and the others, he did his best to kick off in every moment possible to gain back the speed he lost dodging the attacks.
Up front, he could see Hawkeye releasing arrow after arrow on the monsters, using her flexibility to counter the attacks before they were even unleashed.
The sharp eyesight and keen senses of an archer that she had honed in the game gave way to a defensive dome where Volt could use his best abilities.
While Hawk is busy stunning the monsters with electrifying arrows, the cannon fires from their Purple Witch equaled a truck’s raging charge. And when the monsters that was hit stopped to mind the pain, Volt’s RPG Cannon hit them like a guided missile.
Siva had to give them credit for this formation.
They were good at escaping tactics. It seemed that their circle of defense was, actually, that good. He already had this impression back in their first adventure together in Hagonoy but now that impression is drilled on his mind.
And just when he got off to Volt, after the latter shot off another rocket that blinded a monster group, Siva kicked off the air and went straight for him.
“Catch her!” he suddenly yelled and the man froze.
A scream without a warning escaped Agatha’s mouth.
It was a mix of both pain and utter disbelief. She was just tossed like a luggage to the wide eyed Volt who caught her at the last moment.
The look in Agatha’s eyes couldn’t be discerned.
Anger and surprise, embarrassment and confusion, but of course there is the pain of her deep wound. All of it was mixed in that small two seconds before Siva took a jump away from them.
Wordless, he went to the direction where he came from and took out a shining gold scepter from thin air.
He held the scepter on his left hand as he paused in midair, raising it high in the sky using his right hand, while his left hand pressed a button on his player panel.

«Attention»
Just like what happened when the traitorous king used this skill in the coliseum before his deadly duel, it was a skill that was also, almost, equivalent of the attraction effect of his «Killing Zone».
Though smaller in range and only lasts a few seconds, it has an advantage over two very important facts right at that moment.
Siva was so tired right now of using the Flight Armor «Speed Boost» that cost his stamina. He was exhausted and so tired that he was nearing his limit. If he had used «Killing Zone» and the monsters started attacking him all at the same time, he is sure to die, no doubt.
He will die from being unable to save himself.
The second important fact is that he can’t use magic. If he activated Killing Zone, there is no way for him to ever escape. That’s because with these numbers of the enemies all around them, all ranking “B” and higher, a lot of them might die by the other monsters’ greed but it is sure to happen that there will be a lucky one that will eventually find his teeth on him.
A hypnotizing wave caused an invisible ripple in the wind and all monsters in his 50 meter vicinity turned their eyes at him.
It was a long three seconds before Siva turned to face Volt, face a grim behind his mask, and screamed:
“Go!”
Realizing this, Volt embraced Agatha and dashed off.
“Dex!” Agatha screamed behind the wall of wind but no attention was given back as she saw Siva drank a vial of yellow liquid, following them with a ring of air shooting around his feet towards the other side.
