Chapter 412: Universe Races

================================

Siva didn’t pressure him further and then gave him a nod, gesturing to Thorn and company, “For now, you teach these guys advanced magic while I take Gaia and talk about a few matters.”

“Y-Yes, My Lord…”

Siva felt awkward hearing it and could only blame it at the fact that it was Gaia’s fault for revealing this secret to others with her words and actions.

Well, not that he minded it bigtime since it was also partly his fault for being careless about this secret.

Volt, FlowerLord, and Thorn… these three were the only ones left in there along with Scion.

Hearing the words ‘Advanced Magic’ made those three’s ears twitch with excitement. It should be noted that in Terroa today, Tier-5 was the highest known ‘magic’ tier to any player.

What was ‘Advanced Magic’ then?

Thinking about it, does it have something to do with the casting time–less magic spells that they’ve seen during Gyoolu’s banishment in The North? Or like Gaia’s ability to float there without casting any sort of magic spells to himself? Or more easily, is it something close to being able to combine all the Talisman Effects of talismans into one single piece to save talisman slots?

…or, is it close to those apparitions that they’ve all seen during the ‘battles’ in the arena back in the Walled City of Warjillis?

One thing is for sure, though, that Advanced Magic is connected to Tier-6 spells and higher.

Are they going to be the first players to get access to that in RPG: Terroa?

Just this thought alone is already exciting enough.

Siva left them to their devices and left with Scion in tow as he took Gaia away towards the sanctuary area of the Grand Mansion.

The three of them stood in front of a Magic Circle 30m large radiating a bluish golden light —a Mana Gathering Spell Formation!

He spoke, “I can’t cast any spells so I am going to ask you a question regarding Mana…”

As he spoke, Siva produced a Blue Potion, then asked with a serious tone, “Is this a pure solution?”

Gaia blinked. Blue Potions were a joint product of the Terran-Human Alliance and the Enchantment Temples… distributed to all directions of Terroa.

“No.” she shook her head. “That’s a cultured formula from the Mana Springs in the Inner Continents. The distribution of the Blue Potion is up to The Alliance to handle… although 30% of the distributors are handled by the Enchantment Temples which I have created for the sake of Spreading the Path of Magic that Mother Terra had started.”

It can be said that majority of the Terran Magic has become streamlined through the use of Internal Mana present to all living beings.

Siva understood it. As soon as he regained all his [memories], he also became aware of the unique things in Terroa.

“Just like I thought… the humans’ so called ‘World Altering Phenomena’ —or plainly just Magic to all of you Terrans— was an impossible task to be met with only the support of Mana present to the body since the stress of manipulating the physical world will be too much for a single soul to handle. If it was as easy as plainly casting spells, then there is no more sense to the existence of the Gods, and the Path to Immortality was as easy as aging…”

Scion was listening but the words went from one ear and left to the other. She was an idiot in regard to this world’s game mechanics —what more are the secrets that pertained to the deeper aspects of what makes up this universe?

Gaia and Siva were looking at the Mana Gathering Spell Formation —or more specifically, they were eyeing the area inside the 30m-wide Magic Circle.

In there was a 1m-wide basin and in it was a blue liquid purer in color and ‘presence’ than the ones inside the Blue Potions.

This, here, is a genuine Mana Essence.

“Correct me if I’m wrong. You’ve put this Talisman System in place NOT as an actual teaching of the Magic Culture of the Original Terrans, but to serve as a lock to prevent the uncontrolled use of magic… isn’t it? Is this what really Mother started?”

Gaia’s feet landed on the ground and she made a courteous gesture of affirmation at him.

“It was part of Lord Janus’ arrangements. Unlike us genuine Terrans in the Inner Continents who are able to cast Magic innately, all these Muans in the Surface Continents are susceptible to corruption at the slightest mastery of Magic. When the War of the Braves ended, 56 years ago, Magic was also reintroduced to the Muans and so Lord Janus had to adjust his plans —or so I was informed. As you have known, My Lord, I’ve always been below, in my office, guarding the Memory Crystal that was in my care. In fact, right now, I am reluctant of my being here and away from its presence. Even if my own ascension is on the line, I cannot help fear the other Terrans below being made aware of it.”

—Lord Janus… Siva noticed that he wasn’t calling him Big Brother now but instead of a Lord.

It means, she was telling Siva the truth and that her lying on his face would destroy her own existence.

“Hmp. I’ll make sure they regret it.” Siva spoke with a threatening tone. Scion tightened her hand on his arm and this didn’t escape Siva’s attention. He then turned to Gaia, “Are there still Vulpine below?”

“Vulpine?” Gaia blinked, [Vulpine] was one of the Original Terrans —the race with a small and weak physic but with a playful nature— gifted, with the ability to connect to Mana’s Memory Archives.

The “Vulpine Race” was a race of Divine Beasts, as they have physical ‘beastly’ characteristics making them one of the most amiable races in the entire universe.

Peaceful in nature, they have long lives but a very serious reproduction issue, even worse than the already dim chances of the Elves.

They are special in a way that their connection to Mana was through their ability to see through its Memory Archives and find out the truth amongst events that originally doesn’t have anything to do with them.

Back then, their services generally spun around being ‘fortune tellers’ or ‘private investigators’.

Gaia didn’t know why Siva was asking about them but she shook her head and replied regretfully, “I am sorry to tell you, My Lord, but the Vulpine Race has already been extinct since the Ragnarok.”

Siva’s face twitched —was I the cause?

He bit his lips and didn’t ask. Then he fixed his gaze at the Magic Circle, “I need you to arrange a few resources for me, Gaia… prioritize a few Mana Stones for me… please..... and prepare me at least five of these Mana Gathering Spell Formations.”

“My Lord, Mana Gathering Spell Formations like this one are used generally to saturate a fixed area of Mana Essences for easier casting of High-level Magic. If you’re planning to use it for battle, it wouldn’t be a practical idea, for saturating an area needs a fixed amount of time let —alone when in a battlefield where every moment matters.”

Siva’s problem is his inability to use magic. He was beginning to reach the limits of his physical might as he was made aware of it with this invasion.

The Generals are already awakening one by one.

Right now, they are still weak but it’s only a matter of time before they regain their peak strengths and attack Terroa in a full force invasion.

If that happens and Asgard is not yet ready, there would be nothing else he could do but to wait for his and Baron’s demise.

He can’t let that happen.

As early as now, he had to solve every little issue he was finding lacking to his strength.

The curse was one thing, and his inability to cast a magic spell is another. As difficult the issue was, it wasn’t as if it doesn’t have a solution.

After all, there are still the help of ‘equipments’ like his Naiki’s Scepter of Divinity which can store a single spell and use it as an [item ability] and not actually casting a magic spell.

“Asgard doesn’t have any Mana saturated areas so I was planning to set up one to help boost the level of its defenses by adding Magic Sentry Posts and Pylons for Mages and Healers.”

Gaia contemplated for a short moment.

“My Lord, to be honest, we do not have any large stock of Mana Stones left… even back in the Inner Continents. We only have a very few of them left and they’re all reserved for emergency purposes.”

Mana Stones = items that stores a very berserk amount of Mana that when used as a catalyst for a spell or an ability increases its ‘effect’ by a hundred fold or even more.

But the stone itself is a single use item.

Its most practical use was as a component for item creation but aside from capable craftsmen that had qualifications to process one, the amount of Mana Stones left were rarer than scarce.

“It’s not definite. What about the Dragon Territory adjacent to the Inner Continents? It’s not certain that they have no Mana Stones in some secluded areas in their territories. As far as I know, a Mana Stone does no help in any form to the Dragons so I can vouch that they have a few of them in stock, considering how many years it takes to condense a Mana Stone from a Mana Pool like that one and the time of existence of this planet and their race.”

“That is to say, My Lord, that the Dragons have the Mana Gathering Spell Formation with them.”

Siva turned a sharp glance at her, “Don’t pretend to not know about naturally occurring hotspots that gathers Mana in high density. As far as all of my experiences go, Mana Stones formed from those places are of higher quality than artificially created ones. Hah. Isn’t the origin of your Mana Gathering Spell Formations the fact that you wanted to imitate and mimic the phenomenon itself?”

Gaia was stumped for words.

“Hmp. I may not have been a Mage at the slightest in my past life, but I wasn’t stupid as to not know a thing or two about its history.”

True, the ‘Terrans’ of this planet know little about the Dragon Territory but is it even a question?

Dragons were the mightiest existences ever known in the universe and aside from Siva who managed to tame and enslave one of them, no other Terrans have ever even survived an encounter with a True Dragon, let alone actually subdue one.

And the fact remains, before the Muans have even discovered this isolated planet, the Dragon Race have long ago made this planet their home.

There was a long time of war between the Muans and the Dragons and the Muans were forced to be on the defensive until they were at the edge of all their hopes, at the brink of extinction —if not for the timely rescue of the Terrans back then.

But because the Terrans helped the Muans fight back against the suppression of the Dragons, their enmity was built and since then until now, the very relationship between the Original Terrans and the Dragons have never improved.

Does Siva mean to establish a ‘talk’ with the entire Dragon Race for the sake of his Mana Stone?

Fighting a Grand War for extinction would’ve been a lot easier rather than continuing with this talk for the sake of his Mana Stones.

—at least, that was Gaia’s stance.

Siva had to solve his problem with inability to cast a Magic Spell. Cortana needed at least a Mana Stone to serve as a receptor to address her weakness of being unable to ‘scan’ even through Tier-1 Barrier Spells.

Siva knew that his ‘scan’ function was one of his greatest weapons because it enables him a bird’s-eye view of the situation around him.

It prevents ambushes from happening and it also informs him of any ‘underlying information’ on any individual —or just anything— happening around him within the radius of the [scan].

If he could get his hands on at least a single Mana Stone, then he could create an [item] that Cortana can use as the ‘receptor’ she was lacking.

Siva, while intently looking at the Mana Gathering Spell Formation, fiddled with an item on his hand.

It was the same vial of Blue Potion earlier.

He then asked, “I’ve never dabbled in magic but I do know that every Terran Clan has their individual set of Magic Arts.”

At this point, Siva used a gentle tone to make his point to Gaia, “The widely known magic culture in the current Terran Society —a magical culture that uses talismans to condense Magical Effects and to impose the magical change to the material aspects of the universe… this was solely the Magic Arts of your Elven Race. While I know that the rest of the Magic Arts of the other races are unique to them and had different rules and conditions before being used, I am also aware that when it comes to Spell Formations, any distinction to racial limitations and conditions are void and that every Magic Art is just a tiny part of a massive conglomeration of what was generally termed as Magic in the universe.”[1]

Gaia remained quietly listening while Siva went on to his point, “I told you before that I will consider if I am going to serve as your Protector during your Ascension Ceremony so I’m telling you now, I will.”

Although Siva and Gaia already had a tacit accord in this subject; that was during the time that things are still not as serious as they are now.

If it was just a simple invasion in pursuit of the [Memory Crystal], then it wasn’t grounds enough for Siva to act ‘humbly’ in this manner towards her.

But they underestimated this invasion.

Gaia could feel the urgency of the situation as well.

The ‘Generals’ are reviving contrary to their overall knowledge that they should have died; and Siva, the only existence to have ever been a match for these Generals, wasn’t in his former peak strength where he can openly display his fists and no one would say a word at him.

There are no more Legions of the Gods, or Angels or Immortals; there were no more frontline bases or even strongholds and the such… there was just Terroa, the last bastion of the Children of the Light and its descendants… there was just Gabriel, her, and then the obviously —and supposedly— neutral force dragged into the eons of chaos of the Gods and Devil Gods… Siva… who was not even at the tenth of his former might, let alone lead the planet into a war of resistance for their continued peace and prosperity amidst the ever continuing threat of the Demon Armada.

In short, the “Siva” that was the bane of the Devils, was a weak mortal right now; and Terroa, as it is in the current circumstances, does not have anyone who can oppose these savagely cruel Devil Gods leading the Demon Army.

Truthfully, Gaia could only wish that there could be heroes, the same as the ones who bravely rose to lead the resistance to the invasion 56 years ago, that would come again in this generation.

In fact, outside of Janus’s meticulous calculations, the “Nine Braves” back then was a stint of miracle.

“Alas, it remains only a wish…”

Gaia lamented that Janus was no longer with them to reassure them with his plans and calculations.

She could only look on at the man in front of her.

As fate would play it, the fate of Terroa lies in the hands of someone who really doesn’t care about it at all in the slightest —Siva.

What she could only do was remain silent and don a front of helplessness before him.

There was a reason why Siva was here and it was not on the same page of reason as the one Gabriel and she was fighting for.

Siva was here because of his own goals.

“I will protect you until you succeed… but you must teach Scion the Elven Path of Magic and you must also prepare five Mana Gathering Spell Formations for me… can you do that?”

Gaia’s brows furrowed as she weighed the pros and cons of this transaction.

Siva wasn’t ‘demanding’ things anymore but is now actually making a proposal for a mutual benefit —a business transaction.

If there are any other Gods that will see him right now, they’d not believe the slightest of it for Siva had made his own image back in the Era of the Gods as a tyrant, uninhibited by the rules and laws of the other races.

“I can do it.” Gaia replied seriously, “But I’ll need a few weeks, three at most, to arrange the materials and install them into discs the same size as this one formation.”
