Chapter 315: Six Minutes More
================================
“If any opinion matters, then it is as you say it so.”
As affectionate as she was with Siva, Rafaela was still part of Goldwyn City. The Goldwyn Family, no matter how rumoured it was that it doesn’t exist in the real world, is still part of the [Six Families] and as a member of its household, she wasn’t allowed to betray them or else, the enemies will gain a card to play against them.
The Goldwyn Family cannot, in all degree, let the enemies close in on them. Rex, being one of their cards, is essential to the assets of their family.
She could only bite her lip.
Many sinister plots surround Rex Kingsley and it wasn’t a good thing for her and her elder sister to get too close to him.
But she’s in love. No matter how one sided it was and no matter how shallow it may seem in the very surface of it all, it is still the truth; that the reason why she approached him was because she was really attracted to him and not because of anything else in between.
If there’s something, then her identity was a huge hindrance for her.
“Sigh…”
Whether it was his background, his looks, his very fate itself, or is his personality, it was all attracting to her.
Call it her own shallow heart, but she was still a girl and every girl will love a strong man who could go against everything, even the world, to save the important people in his life.
Even if Rex wasn’t good looking, this trait alone is enough to attract her attention.
But add in to the mix his god-level good looks; no woman would be able to resist him.
She may have played around with him before, but it was just her way of loving him. Didn’t she tried to stop anyone who wanted to disrupt him back in the War of Two Powers?
Didn’t she show Siva her private collection?
(A/N: I haven’t revealed anything about this aside from a single line in Volume 5… hehehe… oh, and I really made it BOLD so I leave it to your imagination)
In fact, as revealing and as natural a seductress as she was, she had never gotten a boyfriend in her 20 years of life!
Everything about her… was a product of her elder sister’s education. It was just her externa shell.
Underneath her clothes, she is a pure maiden!
(A/N: to all those who spoke ill of Rafaela: >.<)
When they parted back in the Continent of Espada, she had longed and looked forward to the day where she’d see him again.
How long has it been? A month? Two months? It was short in terms of time but her heart ached as she was indeed missing him truly.
She doesn’t need her die-hard fans. The person she needs was only him, nobody else.
If it wasn’t for her work and her background, she would have long followed Cassiopeia’s steps and throw herself at his embrace with abandon.
“Fate is cruel indeed.” Rafaela could only sigh. “I am perhaps fated to be away from him from the very start…”
“Milady has both looks and background, what man could ever resist you?”
“Him. He will.” Rafaela sighed again and then gazed at the heated battle. “He is part of Father’s plots and as well as a pawn to AG’s plans. It’s no wonder he’d hate AG and The Family for using his brother as a bargaining chip to pressure him to do a job against his will. It was one thing to just help him but why do they have to announce that they’d take his brother as a hostage? Even I can’t do something to reverse this impression now that it had all come down to this.”
She made another long sigh.
“Ah, The Family would kill you if they know you’re aware of this information.”
Rafaela leaned back to her chair. “Getting you is one of my blessings. I can’t even tell my sister that I already know The Father’s plans. All I can do is pretend to know nothing and then have you guard my back when I am in the real world.”
“It is my duty as your supporter, Milady.”
“Sigh… when the time comes, I will have to rely on your abilities to pull us out of the muddy waters in the future. Anyways, how’s the charging of the cannons?”
Her sudden change of topic also changed the look of concern that became plastered on the bearded face of Newgate.
The man resumed his stiff and calculating look as he reported, “98% complete.”
“Alright. Let’s inform him of our plans.”
The call connected.
“Cortana, inform your boss that we’re ready on our part and that we will be dealing long-ranged attacks. We can see from our position that you’re planning to bring it close to the city walls. Though the City Lord had already given his stance to just passively defend the city, he wouldn’t be that stupid to not know how to use this tactic as well.”
“I have assumed it will be this way.”
Rafaela nodded. Cortana really do lives up to their talk about her ‘grade’ as a Battle-AI.
“Mn. We’ll be staying at the protection of the walls while you distract its attention.”
“I will report it immediately. Give us 30 seconds to prepare for your involvement. Please mark the location of our units.”
“Don’t worry.” Rafaela dismissed it and then faced Newgate, “Start the count.”
The call ended.
*****
“Boss, I’ve double checked. That Newgate is a Battle-AI…. and someone that is from an external source unlike me. I could assume that he will think I am unable to perform Battle-AI abilities outside of the game.”
Battle-AI from inside the game was unable to get outside of it… unless that Battle-AI was the one that was sold externally by Panorama Corp. and had been integrated to be able to perform certain tasks outside the game.
…..of course, they fetch at really high a price and their production is limited as they are also rare.
Only those with capability and money could actually get them, that is, before Rex Kingsley had come back in Terroa, and Neth and Janus locked the game.
“Isn’t that better? Hah!”
Siva was now at the head of the Dragon and is using the puppets to deal damage to it while he himself just focused on not being squashed.
100m may have been a large distance for men, but this thing is 4km big… just opening its mouth alone was already 300m large.
Its claws fifty, sixty times his own size and its own reach were a thousand times longer than how far he could dodge with all his ability.
He could only lodge on to its body and deal his damage there if he wanted to survive.
After drinking blue potion, Siva crawled (actually, he flew-dashed) on its neck, then said in between chasing his breath: “But he can’t see through you, right?”
“I felt him [scanning] my body but failed yet I was able to scan him and even trace his origin. I am clearly the superior one.”
“Please, be mindful of your words. I’m still a guy.”
“Apologies. Anyways, they said they will attack in long-range distance from the city walls. They said within these twenty-five seconds, they will begin attacking the dragon.”
“Have they marked our locations?”
“With Newgate’s abilities, there’s no problem with this issue. Unlike me, he’s in complete control of the Miranda Warship.”
“Wait. Haven’t I given you the Rewloola?”
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
“I have yet to step into it, remember?”
“Shit.”
“But boss, what I’m more concerned of is the strength of the newest model cannon, Azeroth. It has the potential to pull the aggro from us and put it on their direction.”
Siva had just used the hammer-axe blade’s blast-initiated blade jack to deal a shallow wound on the dragon’s translucently colored light blue scales when he stopped a lashing of a claw.
He then placed himself on the dragon’s nape and placed ten plasma screen grenades in a cluster before triggering it with a spark grenade from 20m away.
A loud explosion rung but he knew that these are not enough to bring down this creature, although it was enough to draw its aggro towards only him.
“No worries. I can steal back the aggro if they do wake this creature back up from the effects of the Killing Zone.”
“Alright then. Calling allies.”
The call connected and Siva didn’t waste time as he announced, “Everyone! The Miranda is here to help us deal damage to this Dragon. They will attack in long-range from inside the city and after that, we will be subjected to a switch in aggro. I will steal its aggro back and we will have to repeat this cycle until we reach their firing range. But while we are still in range of the castle, we will try to deal as much damage to it as possible. Thorn, I need you to fire a single massive strike and make it seem to be coming from Alexandria using the marshal’s ability, and begin to charge again after.”
“Give us ten seconds!”
“Cramer, Efel, extricate and get to the other side from the city’s direction!”
“I know!” “Alright.”
FlowerLord was really prideful while Cramer know when and where to heed a command.
They used the dragon’s massive body and its wide movements to catapult themselves towards the other direction of the city while Siva focused himself on dealing damage to its neck and head with shallow attacks.
He always made sure that his puppets were in the direction away from the claws and that he also made use of their attacks to pry open the shallow wounds he had dealt to its scales earlier.
This way, he would switch from place to place and even though it was slow, he believed that it will be enough to deal a massive damage when it starts to accumulate in time.
Akhenaton’s attacks to the body was also working and each time it would seem that the aggro would be taken away from Siva, Siva would always try to hit its eyes or the earlier wounds and relaunch the Killing Zone to maximize its capabilities.
“I don’t have to worry about this thing attacking the city since there is still Gabriel in the peak of that mountain.”
This was the reason why he was brave enough to lure the dragon towards the city.
But even if this fails in the end, there was still the city’s barrier to help the city hold in from the dragon’s attacks.
After they escape this place, the city will still be able to have enough time to evacuate its people and even escape through teleportation.
But this was a case that’s hardly to happen. He more believed on the first case.
“With how he spoke when he drove Sefirah away from Alexandria, he was the over-protective type, if my reading on his character isn’t a mistake. He won’t let Alexandria fall into ruins.”
Siva was confident on his ability to read people.
Although it wasn’t as perfect as he thought it was since he was still able to fall into Jack’s deception back in Anazon Forest, he was still positive since the easiest type of people to read are those over-protective types.
They are strong and they use that strength to protect those important to them. He had seen that Gabriel loves Alexandria and so he was sure that he will act at the right time.
And in a more bitter side of it, he was also the same as Gabriel.
He was an over-protective type as well.
Perhaps that’s the reason why he couldn’t bring himself to actually hate the guy despite knowing the reason why Gabriel hated him and how this hate had stopped Siva from getting the answers he needed from Gabriel.
In fact, trusting the fact that Gabriel hates him, he was sure that Gabriel was cursing at him right now since his aim to lure the dragon to the city was a pretty obvious thing from the very beginning.
*****
“Hachoo! You bastard! I know you’re cursing me right at this moment! Don’t think I don’t know your plans!”
*****
And Siva was sure, no matter how much he curse him from that mountain peak, Gabriel can’t do a thing about it.
“Sorry pal. I can’t die here.”
“Siva, we’re almost ready.” Thorn’s voice rung on the line and it was a very good news to hear. Siva instructed Cortana, “Tell the Miranda that we are going to attack as well. Right after we attack, they also strike at the same time. I leave the sequence to you.”
“Leave it to me, boss.”
He left the coordination of the attack to Cortana and while he was searching for a chance to give the command, the thirty seconds preparation of the Miranda was over and so Siva made a run to the dragon’s head.
“Now!”
The first to fire of course the marshal’s fleet; all cannons in all of the warships and even Cyclones fired a rain of volley of everything they got thru the [Hyper Strong Punch] of the marshal.
All of it landed straight at the monster’s back. It would have been a good thing if he was the one to deal this attack and maximize the Killing Zone Effect but since he can’t, he just watched it all happen.
The dragon made a loud roar of pain as Siva only watched it all happen with an indifferent set of eyes.
“Hm? What? What is this?” it was weird but he still noticed it. “It was as if letting this magnificent and rare creature die like this was nothing to me. Why am I indifferent with this? Why does my heart do not care about it?”
As he pondered over this, he also thought that it’s not the right time so he forced the thought to a great stop right there and then.
His survival was the priority.
The attack went on for thirty seconds during which he was also preparing a special ball of pure nano-machines for an ultimate attack to pull back the aggro that might have been possibly lost.
When the attacks from the Fortress stopped, a second set of attack also came from the city that hit the spot where the dragon had been hit just a second ago.
The short reprieve made the dragon relax as it tried to turn its head but the rest was only for a second and the pain hasn’t even subsided yet when a second volley of long-ranged attacks had hit the same soring spot.
GRRRRROOOOOOAAAARRRR….!!!
A loud painful howl rung and the dragon roared to the sky as if to cry its anguish to it.
Another thirty seconds passed and the attacks ended, Siva didn’t waste any time and activated his plan… launching towards the direction of its back while holding the ball he had preapared.
“Cortana!” he gave the instructions on his mind.
“Leave it to me.” Cortana contacted the Miranda.
The dragon did indeed turned around and the effects of the Killing Zone vanished as it woke up from its berserk daze, glaring savagely towards Alexandria… towards Miranda.
It actually ignored the little fly on its back.
“The more you ignore me, the more painful this attack will hurt.”
When he reached the back of the dragon… there was only a burnt wound on its scales and on the outer perimeter circles that was hit by the blasts, the scales were red as if a hot iron.
“It only dealt this kind of wound…”
Any observer will see that the wound was a bit shallow and not life-threatening. It’s like receiving a gnash on your skin after stumbling on the road.
It was indeed painful, but it was nevertheless a very shallow wound. But what was shocking is that he’s been able to deal this much damage to the dragon with just himself and a set of full-bodied swings on the same spot alone.
The difference between him and the damages the warships made was that they dealt a very wide area of damage where as his was just a small cut on the skin.
“So 50 of my full bodied attacks are enough to be compared to a single cannon fire of a longhorn…”
“Please, boss, don’t delude yourself.”
Siva choked from being reprimanded by Cortana.
He regained his senses, “Is it wrong to bathe in vanity for once?”
“You’re wasting time.”
“I’m still charging!”
By means of charging, he meant he was filling the head-sized ball of NanoCubes with blue smoke of the Plasma Smoke Screen Grenade…
Looking at his fighting style, Siva was really a very extravagant one. Just how much is a Stun E-Grenade (spark grenade), how much is a Plasma Smoke Screen, and how much is a NanoCube?
Sure they are cheap if bought by a few pieces each time but Siva uses them like they were just stones in the streets, throwing in a hundred with no qualms whether it deals significant damage or not.
Each time he fights, he wastes millions. And that’s already a conservative estimate.
There was a trick to using the Inventory.
An item can be stored inside it but if consumable items were to be used and stored back inside, they’d either rot or vanish after their usage is lost.
Same principle, when a spark grenade is used and then he stored it back, he can launch the activated spark grenade 20m away from him.
While throwing it also works, it was faster to use this technique as there was the advantage of the distance.
Siva was the only one who can use this trick.
And the Plasma Smoke Screen also has the same result as the spark grenade. Right now, he was ‘charging’ the NanoCube ball full of plasma smoke to create a smoke bomb upon impact.
“Boss, the dragon’s just 10km away from the wall.”
“I’m almost finished!”
“9km.”
“Wait…”
“8km…”
“Just a little bit more…”
The dragon made another loud roar but it was a roar that had a different threat to it.
“Boss, I think the dragon is about to…”
“Shit… it’s not full yet but… dammit.” Siva stored the ball back to his inventory and put it into one of his three quick item pockets. He then jumped up and flew towards the center of the damaged skin at the dragon’s back.
He pointed his palm towards the center of the big wound and made thought command to pull out the item… 20m away.
XIUUU!!!
The sound of a small item being launched at a great speed rung mildly on his ears; Siva saw the head-sized ball made contact with the skin and it shattered like glass, spreading whitish blue smoke in a wide area that began to spread out as soon as it appeared.
“Now hen…”
Killing Zone activated.
“To finish it…”
He extended another hand and another item flew out in great speeds.
TAP!
Siva’s mind made the illusory sound as he saw the item touch the exposed wounded skin with its red blood leaking like a bruise.
Bluish white spark detonated and a massive burst exploded along with an angry and anguished roar from the dragon’s mouth, halting whatever it was that it’s about to do, and twirled and wriggled in midair to endure the pain of the explosion.
Everything happened in just a moment’s time.
But Siva knew that he had to continue moving. So he pulled back his hammer-axe and reassembled his original item settings.
“How many minutes until transfer?” he yelled.
“Six and a half minutes!”
“Cortana, I need you to mark and remind me when it’s the last three minutes before the jump, okay?”
Having read his mind, Cortana knew what he was going to do so she also made her calculations.
“With the addition of the Miranda, your chances of surviving had increased to 80% sir but if you choose to defeat the True Dragon… then you have 40% chance of winning!”
Siva was startled, “And that’s assuming that the dragon do not erase the Miranda out of the equation?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Alright. Coordinate with the Miranda and keep an active watch between the two options. If the True Dragon reveals something that might change the situation, we will do our last option and flee from this place.”
“Yes sir!”
“Akhenaton! Let’s get back to work!”
“Yes, My Lord!”
From dealing damages on the belly of the beast, Akhenaton flew and jumped towards its back where it didn’t wait longer for the dragon to stop squirming and notice his appearance to deal it a large falling move with its spear.
The spear tip stabbed the dragon’s freshly exposed red flesh while Siva started to prepare another plasma smoke bomb.
“I never knew this spontaneous idea would be this effective… I’d better pay attention to this when I get the chance to in the future.”
“Boss, the dragon is aiming to slam you all to the ground in three seconds!”
“Guys, watch out! It’s about to turn its body!”
The dragon made an angry roar and dived down towards the decimated piece of land outside the southern edge of the walled city.
