Chapter 211: Akhenaton’s Deterrence

================================

Mountains shook as it passed. Forests swayed and the monsters bit their tongues to stay quiet.

Something in this suddenly darkening skies bid all souls to quiver.

Only B-Ranked and up monsters had the audacity to actually roar in reply to this agitation but by the time they turned their heads up and roared in concert to the calling of the Killing Zone, Akhenaton had long already passed their territory and the effects had long disappeared.

Flying monsters were able to give chase, or those who were around the peaks that he destroyed as he rushed towards that burning city.

While the excavation and discovery of the secrets of the spire were currently being undertaken, Akhenaton was rushing forward without care, pushing his speed to maximum, and destroying anything that stood in his way.

The two hours’ time was shortened to one and a half, and it was already an hour since Siva threw himself on his fit of raging thunderous emotion where wrath had overtaken 90% of his sanity and 10% remained human.

In fact, in one high peak… located at the Xinjiang Mountain Range, the highest peak is called as such upholding the glory of being the fourth highest mountain peak in Tiara… the face of the mountain was being glared upon by an angry golden-bodied god, Siva.

“You’re in my way!” as if telling this to a person, Siva roared and as soon as he was about to smash at the mountain’s face, he swung the hammer and the peak that stood for thousands of years, for perhaps hundreds of thousands of years… exploded.

From this point, Siva’s destination changed towards the southern side of Alexandria.

Thorn, inside the all-viewing sphere, checked his map that was provided to him by D’Catch and spoke up.

“I will be dispatching all the warships now. Volt, you take care of the rest. A fight will occur so you prepare towards the plan. For the moment, I will have to talk with the marshal.”

He gave a nod and replied firmly, “Leave it to me.”

Thorn spent a glance at Siva before he vanished with a blink towards the hangar islands.

Volt saw countless small dots of Cyclones leaving the roof opening on the hangars as huge warships all floated upwards, taking their positions.

Leading them was the “Turquoise” Flagship —now called the [Flagship “Bat Wing”] on the very forefront, in a wide wedge formation.

After being briefed with his tasks and privileges, [Black Mustache Unit] Fleet Commander “Black Mustache” Marshal D’Catch had become much more excited and energetic on his new career as the Church of Donar’s premiere fleet commander.

Not only did he gain additional units on his fleet, the units he gained were also of the famous terrors of Battle City, warships that specializes in close-range to entry-level mid-ranged combat abilities.

Adding his long-range specialization, not only did these ships added versatility, they also added an entire array of new formations for him to unleash in the face of combat.

What commander wouldn’t be excited when he gains eight new warships to command?

Two Garuda-Class (close/mid-range + Tier-3 hull) from the Sisters of Valkyrie Guild…

One Knight-Class (close-range attack + Tier-4 hull) and two Garuda-Class warships from Ebony Sanctuary Guild…

Three Garuda-Class from Nine Dragons Gate…

Just these eight additional warships alone were enough to make even the toughest Fleet Commander to salivate endlessly. What more if he received these warships to command under his name?

The flag of a pigeon with a black mustache proudly flutters as Marshal D’Catch stood behind Thorn atop the “Bat Wing” Flagship of his reinvigorated Black Mustache Unit while eyeing the upsized version of his once mid-level fleet.

Volt looked on as the Bat Wing took flight and took its stance behind Akhenaton.

Countless Cyclones also flew in a formation, like flies, attracted around the warships. They hovered there like wasps tightly guarding their queen.

BOOM!

The islands now float behind the golden human-shaped warship as Siva stepped on forward without a care that he had just destroyed the fourth highest peak in Tiara and rendered it a shame of a mountain when looking at the large gaping space at its once majestic icy-rock peak.

With every step the Akhenaton takes, it leaves the air barrier screaming and trembling.

“He snapped.”

Volt looked at Siva from behind whom, even though the spaces below the nose and above the eyes were hidden by his pontifical cloth, one would still see the burning emotion on his sharp glaring eyes.

Shaking his head, Volt sighed and then sent a message to Rentaw. After a few seconds, Ren appeared on the all-viewing sphere with a flash and saw the agitated Siva floating and rushing as if he wasn’t sensing the changes inside this spacious space.

“What happened to him?” Ren asked in curiosity.

Volt bit his lips and a look of pain and helplessness was reflected on that youthful look of his.

“Something big.” Volt said.

“Aye… whatever’s happening to him always gets his reasoning burned out each and every time. It’s not that he has a short temper but it’s actually that no person would not be agitated if the same things that happened to him happens to them as well.”

Ren wasn’t stupid so even though his thoughts drifted afar from the real reason why Siva had snapped, it was still not far from having the fact that it was still connected to Alexandria.

“It’s a really long story but know that this time, there is more than enough reason for us to clash with the Blue Card Legion. This time, only one of us will survive if we do indeed fight it out in the battlefield.”

“That’s… I feel a deep grudge in here. Something big really happened, right?”

“Sigh. It’s a long story. But the main problem is Kladis kidnapped and almost raped his girlfriend’s avatar and she became traumatized that she may need some serious counseling.”

Ren was really shocked to hear this. “Shet! That damn lecher…!!” as he cursed, Ren couldn’t help but glance over at Siva and thought just how pitiful he was that everything close to him was experiencing what people could only call as movie-level disasters. “This guy really does have a life full of weird and extreme struggles.”

“That’s why… I am asking you for help, seriously, this time, Mister Rentaw. We can’t fight The Legion just by ourselves. Although Siva is strong, he’s but a single man and because of the deal he had struck with the devil, he is even forced to endure all of it alone. We… I… insisted on coming here with him and although all of these are happening against the deal he made, Rex really have no other choice as of the moment. So in behalf of this stubborn individual—” at this point, Volt faced the man and bowed his head, “—I request for your help, Mister Rentaw. In the future, we will try our best to repay your kindness even tenfold.”

Volt was young but the words and the seriousness of the case he represents is a serious one.

The request he was making was in behalf of Rex.

Rex, right now, was so disturbed that everything seems to have already fallen apart around him if these guys, Thorn and Volt, weren’t around to pat him and push him from the back.

Rentaw was really thinking… this guy’s fate is really so heavy that, now, just trying to think of reasons to say “No” to this request would be going against his nature as a human being and not actually saying “no” for lending a helping a hand.

Would he be betraying his humanity if he declined?

“Argh!” Rentaw scratched his head as if it was full of ants while he uttered a painful cry of helplessness. “You’re really giving me no other choice here, kids… wouldn’t I look uglier than a monster if I said no to you right now?”

Volt almost cried but didn’t. At the moment, all he could do is bow, and, just like the ones he had seen in the movies, cupped his hands and lowered his head to show his deepest gratitude.

He really had no other words to say “Thank you” in behalf of his friend who was in dire needs.

Ren waved a hand and dismissed it, “Nah. Don’t mention it. I’ll just do my best in this coming fight. I will also not ask for anything in return. Just that… you have to make sure that you will be able to save that little princess of his and take back Rex’s brother.”

Volt raised his body and a firmly nods, “We will do our best.”

“Ayt. Just tell me what to do and my Hydra Fleet will be at your beck and call.”

“Regarding that, actually, we were planning to have you as the last sword in this fight.”

“Last sword?”

“Yeah… she was kidnapped by a spy called Hubert who pretended to be a member of the TOS Guild because she seems to have gained a Legendary White MOD that can reveal Guardian Spirits. And in order to stop them from letting that happen again, we’re going to need your Hydra Fleet to do a mission.”

“W-W-Wait… Legendary White MOD? Isn’t this on the same level as Cramer’s, I mean, Siva’s Artemis MOD back then? And what’s a Guardian Spirit?”

“Okay. Since you’ve already agreed…”

The whole city was in a lockdown for the past week and hunters, warriors, and soldiers ran in a frenetic manner here and there as they chased the invaders who wrecked their peaceful living.

Alexandria had a circular octagonal shape with a full diameter of over 120+km.

The Blue Card Legion’s castle base, Apus Epirus, had appeared on the southern horizon and is now hovering approximately 9km away from the wall itself.

It was far away from the wall itself but the bombardment from its forces could reach the wall if they just move at about 4km deeper closer into it.

At this point in time, the south-east wall side had lesser soldiers on them but it doesn’t mean that they aren’t in full alert. The city was still under siege and the internal forces are yet to be replenished by the week-far reinforcements that came from Warjillis.

There are around 200 soldiers here assigned solely for defense and an entire division’s worth of NPC soldiers dedicated for emergency counter-attack operations.

For half the entire day, they could still hear the distant explosions of the bombarding agents of The Legion.

HUMMM—

Then, without a warning, as if the sol had been eaten by a monster, the bright daylight that filled the city, the mid-day brightness suddenly, abruptly, and with no warning, became as black as a lightless night… hugged the entire surroundings.

A soundless phenomenon, as horrifying as any devilish premonition, an ear-deafening sound of a dreadful windless atmosphere rung on everyone’s ears…

—RAAAAAAAA!!!

Followed by a roar of something big from the distance, the grating, echoing sound of jarring oilless metallic gears for a voice box rang in every direction. The horror of the eternal night curse spread like wildfire in but a single moment since it elapsed.

But what made this sound more frightening is not because it happened right after the day became night, but because this sound is like an evangelion roaring to the heavens as soon as it found its delicious prey.

Following this, a deathly silence erupted like a volcano in their ears.

Not even the wind dared to make a sound after it.

Only around 20km of the current 60km [territory] of Akhenaton had fallen over the city but that was enough to scare the soldiers staying at the south-eastern side.

As Akhenaton moved, the cube of darkness underneath his feet also moved with it.

The sudden eclipsing of the day into a dark night lasted only for a moment on the more northerly side of that small patch of the city but on certain places closer to the south-eastern side, daylight remained blanketed in the curtain of the dark.

Many realized at this moment how they had taken “the light” for granted.

They were used to having a full day of work and full night of rest that they didn’t think of a “what if” scenario where the day stopped coming at them and there was only the night.

Only now did they realize how the light of day played a very big and important role in their everyday lives.

But to those living near the edge of the south-eastern side of the city, this sudden disappearance of the light brought forth not only a horrifying reality but also of panic and uncontrollable fiery chaos.

The guards on the walls were very much affected and some of them even panicked to the point of collapse as they either screamed or ran in random directions.

At this moment, those of the district defense office had long detected the existence of Akhenaton but they never thought that it was capable of this.

Apus Epirus

Inside the command bridge, Kladis was quite aghast to see a rendering of an incoming omen.

It hasn’t been two hours since the Deputy Commander gave his report and yet here’s the problem now, speeding like a tornado straight towards their direction.

“How could this be?!” He roared and then snapped a glance at the Deputy. “I thought you gave the order for the Marshal to fight it out with Akhenaton so why am I seeing him with a different flag on his warship?!”

On the big display panel on the bridge, behind Akhenaton, were almost countless tiny dots of Cyclones and warships. In one zoomed part of the display, a completely black but still distinguishable familiar outline of the once Flagship “Turquoise” was hovering with his five Lambda-Class warships and eight other more in a three layered formation.

Aside from the seemingly hundreds of Cyclones that floats like flies around Akhenaton, there was also the nine islands and Akhenaton himself that gave anyone a fright in just one glance.

It was still over a hundred kilometers away from the island castle but it was nevertheless approaching fast at a speed that was largely visible to the naked eye.

Although it seems to be taking one step at a time, one step from Akhenaton was over 100m and each and every one of these steps leaves the wind barrier trembling, leaving a screaming wind that batters the now eternally dark land.

“That’s…”

“So that’s Akhenaton…”

“Ah! It’s so scary!”

“Such frightening might…”

“With those islands, he looked really like a deity…”

“Just like a God descending from the Immortal Lands…”

The Legion members inside the command bridge of the Apus Epirus couldn’t help but swallow a few mouthful of courage down forcefully when looking at the approaching Akhenaton.

Apus Epirus’s distance was yet to enter the 60km radius from Akhenaton so nothing, not even the spy drones that The Legion released as lookout for the unforeseen contingencies could ‘render’ the effects of the Eternal Night Curse. To add more deterrence on the approach of Akhenaton, the Maximum height that the Apus Epirus can hover above ground was only 3km while Akhenaton was on a staggering height of 6km above the ground.

The camera drones’ displays were directed upwards at the human-shaped warship and from the distance, one could even imagine just how ‘godly’ of a presence this angle represents.

Such scene was causing more veins of anger to pop on Kladis’ face.

“Explain this to me!” Kladis roared and pounced at the Deputy. “I gave you an order! What happened?”

Grabbed on his collar, the Deputy answered with fear on his shaking voice: “S-Supreme Commander… I-I-I really gave the order for the marshal to attack and buy time for us. I even told him to sacrifice himself for the glory of The Legion!”

When Kladis heard this, his brows began to twitch as his upper lips curved into an ugly convulsing “w”.

“You told him to be a sacrifice?” Kladis was panting and his chest rose and fell with deep raging breaths.
