Chapter 316: Dragon Cry
================================
[A calamity has befallen your city]
[The Neutral Zone Effect has been lifted]
[Eradicate threat to resume safe status]
With a massive explosion on the land, the terrain rumbled as the impact created yet another crater that would forever be etched to the memories of the ones watching this scene.
The shockwave of such loud detonation of force and weight travelled towards the southern wall and as ruined as it already is, the shockwave did not even tarry and diminish in power until it had entered 6km more towards the city.
It was said that the 100+ meters high Ironwood Walls of the walled cities were all Dragon-resistant but just now, with merely the shockwave of a fall, it was reduced to large rubbles and debris.
The sight of a ruin painted a feeling of desolate loss in the hearts of the spectators.
A Dragon 4km in size made a 10km wide crater on its crashing impact and the subsequent tremors all but made the outer edge of the city into a wreck.
“H-How frighting…”
“My City!”
“Aaaahhh…!! City Lord, get a hold of yourself!”
Of course, the first to collapse at the sight of the 2km long wall crumbling like Lego bricks was the City Lord of Alexandria.
“How am I going to explain this?” he had put up with Siva’s trickery by manipulating information and forging a false report, blaming the large holes in the city as perpetrated by a follow up attack by the Blue Card Legion.
Billion could get away from that because there were sufficient materials for the forgery and that he had acted accordingly as soon as it happened.
This time, however, was a different matter.
“Even if I used the fact that this wasn’t under my control, I’ve already reported that there was no more connection between Siva and this city but why is he still here?! There shouldn’t be anything else that’s attracting his attention so why is he still here in my city?”
As irritated and dejected as he was, trouble had already come knocking so the least he could do was adapt to the situation to preserve more of the city, instead of ruining more of it.
Warships rose from the western quadrant of the city and their cannons bore towards the biggest four-legged beast the current society in Terroa had come to know of.
Of course, right at this very moment, the happiest existences were those media agents that are now coming to the city’s public squares by wat of teleportation.
One spread to ten and ten spread to a hundred, people bearing camera drones all came to the city and they ignore all warnings of the Knights and the City’s defense forces as they flew towards the direction of the battle.
“This is getting out of hand…”
Billion received the reports and predictions of the battle and one of the information included reports from the Headquarters of The Union in Qatar.
It included the news of a certain creature that was not supposed to be this large and yet resembled it in all physical aspects.
“Is this one of the candidates’ doing?” Billion had a fair share of experiences and with the world of Terroa where impossible is but a normal word, it was far more practical to believe than to doubt it.
Why, then? He asked himself. If it is indeed true, then why is a King Candidate attacking Siva?
Just then, Billion pulled out a few information on his player panel and in it were all the data that the world knew of Siva and [The Company], with a few others more provided to him by reliable Union Contacts, as well as spies by the likes of [Julia].
In one of the panel was a Big Black Ball; in another was the Battleship Rewloola; then in another was the Intel about his [Grand Quest]; and then in another was a snapshot of a beautiful woman caring for him.
“Hm?”
Billion stared at the woman and read the contents of the report about her, stunned at the fact that a beautiful goddess of beauty like her was actually a real person in the real world.
“To think she’s actually acquainted with him…”
A thought struck him.
“Is this attack driven by hate, then? It’s quite odd and a bit too unrealistic to be true, but considering that there are all kinds of people in this game, a bunch of jealous types with sufficient confidence in their abilities might actually do this very sort of thing out of personal reasons.”
He stared at Scion’s picture for a few moments before he looked at the sight of the Dragon on its back and squirming as if to remove something on it displayed on his panel.
An irritated expression drew on his face and he clicked his tongue.
“Serves you right.” He cursed then declared to their internal comms channel, “Listen, all of you. I don’t care what happens to that bastard’s group but make sure that you do not leave the boundary of the defenses set in the city. All Barrier Mages and Support Mages, focus your defenses on the enemy at the southern edge of our city! Defense Force! Stay vigilant against enemies that might come to ambush us on all sides. Do I make myself clear to you?”
“Loud and clear, City Lord!”
*****
Of course, as obedient as the Defense Force is, the Media Agents have their own scores to fill in this scoop.
Many of them went beyond the range of the City’s Magic Barrier and dared to venture forth for the sake of that good angle.
Although the drones have autonomous functions on them, they still needed to be in the range of the [core] for them to be fully controlled.
Kathleen Brew wasn’t an exception to this.
Still, what makes her different from the rest is the fact that not only she was prepared for events like these, she had also bought the most expensive yet the most powerful drones available in the game.
In the range of a 10km wide circle, her camera drones were the ones with the widest scope and freedom, aside from the fact that she was in a relatively safe distance away from the fight.
This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.
There were cameras focused on Siva, the dragon, FlowerLord, Cramer, to her, to the battlefield and the entire area around it, and even to some of the Media Agents who had come inside her scopes.
“Let’s see… let’s see…” she was licking her long pink tongue and smiling ear to ear. She had a good shot from when this fight had started and it was a scoop that she was eagerly awaiting to send to her specialized team.
“Hm?”
She saw the weird activities of the Defense Force and how all the ships, including the violet-themed fleet, the Miranda Fleet, stayed inside the city’s Magic Barrier.
“I guess it’s to be expected of Billion.” As she murmured, she focused on the back of the large dragon that has a large wound around 200m wide on it caused by the combined attacks of the two fleets from the north and the south direction.
She turned her gaze at Siva who had a dedicated team of 30+ drones who solely focused on him and his [puppets]
“It’s really weird, why is he fixated on those ugly puppets?”
The Dragon stood on its feet and quickly made a pose and from those familiar with it, it was a bad sign and as well as the sign of imminent danger.
“Oh shit!” Kathleen panicked. Although she was 10+km away from the battlefield, she had a feeling that if she stayed afloat like this, she might get in danger.
Following this movement was the dragon’s roar to the sky as if it was declaring its anger.
The loud roar rattled the ears of those present in its vicinity, but more than that, there was a more frightening effect that followed after this cry.
Everyone in the nearest 20km from the Dragon froze in place.
“Pose of the King!” everyone who was able to recognize this battle cry felt the shivers.
A large creature 4km large is using the trademark bane of the Hunters of the S-Ranked Monsters of 20m size… the scale is of a frightening level.
The agents who were hovering in the sky all fell towards the ground. Those who were in higher altitudes were lucky but those on lower altitudes cursed that they weren’t in high enough height so they died when they hit the ground.
But the horror of a [Dragon Cry] didn’t end there.
Many agents were just like Kathleen, riding in their Wyverns or any other flying beast ride. As soon as the monster rung, Kathleen had started to plunge towards the ground like a comet.
“Shit!” after she cursed, she also realized that the precious seconds that she was falling had been too slow. Even though she had flown higher as soon as she realized what the dragon was about to do, she still felt that it was too low an altitude.
She could only freely fall, just like anyone else.
Her eyes turned to the panels in front of her and saw that Cramer was already in the middle of a crater not too far away from the dragon; while FlowerLord was not too far away from him, on a tree in a patch of forest that had survived the war between Siva and The Legion, and the devils.
The writhing magma behind her formed into a sphere and protected her fall, then burned the tree as she made mental commands to let it drop her.
Advantages of the BlackTech’s [Overdrive Mode].
While in its [Normal Mode] it could only take form the [forms] that it had assimilated. But when it’s in its [Overdrive Mode], while taking its final form, the User can freely make shapes out of it.
While falling, Kathleen also smiled wryly at the sight of a seemingly unaffected person, rushing up the Dragon’s body, towards its wound.
“I guess that’s one of the effects of the Killing Zone…”
Although Siva had told Volt and Company about his [Killing Zone], Volt didn’t tell the rest of the group about the exact details of what he learnt.
These were all Kathleen’s hypotheses.
Still freefalling, Kathleen also saw a horde of many different kinds of monsters converging at Siva’s direction.
“Damn it… I will definitely punish that thing when it gets back after this.”
Cursing everything, Kathleen could only wait until the seconds of the effects of the [Pose of the King] had subsided before thinking of summoning her wings to survive.
“Damn it… why did I forget about this?”
It was this event’s fatal mistake.
Perhaps only Siva was the one who was aware of the monster’s tendencies… after all, he had the [memories] to trust, that’s why his chances of able to win here rose up to 30%.
*****
“Boss, monsters are coming from every direction and it seems that the dragon is also not planning to leave you alone.”
“Calculate and warn me in time.”
“Of course, sir. Oh and there’s also Little Blacky included amongst the incoming horde.”
Siva groused, “You could’ve told me that sooner.”
In the few seconds right after the dragon made its presence known by that roar, summoning its army of monsters in turn, Siva was already halfway on his preparation for another plasma bomb.
His flight direction right now was towards the hip-area of the dragon where there was a 200m large wound, like a bruise, in it.
“It would have been better if FlowerLord was the one to deal damage to its skin here.” Siva thought that her [Overdrive] imbued with the power of fire was useful in this situation.
All living creatures have flesh underneath any and whatever there are that’s protecting their bodies.
Dragons are special.
The reason why dragons are all tough is because they have exoskeletal bone structures that look like mounds protecting their bodies and limbs like a set of armor. If one had to put a defensive level on a dragon’s exo-bone structures, then it should be 300 points out of its 1000 points defense.
And then before their skin are the scales, a very valuable monster resource. Dragon scales are too strong that they measure 500 points of the overall defensive strength of a dragon.
The last 200 points is of course, the skin.
Now, a normal person had around a maximum of 200 attack points, adding equipment and stocked damages with the training of their bodies, or in other words, increased stats.
Basically, no normal person could deal damage to be enough to cause a dent or wound a dragon’s defense in one blow. It had to be accumulated.
That’s why dragons are the hardest opponents to hunt in this game; in addition to their sizes, they are also physically superior. And that is also why warships are needed to pierce this thick defense.
Yet, breaching that 1000 point defensive variance is but the basic of the most basic requirements in order to be able to lightly wound a dragon.
Dealing enough damage to bring it down requires more than just the same attacks that the two warships had launched earlier.
For the most part of it, Siva understood this very clearly and that’s why he was thankful that he had the [Killing Zone] and the addition of the Black Master Armament which gave him the ability to wound the dragon.
The «Black Master Armament» that’s made up of a full Mega-Crate + more of Black Ironwood Alloy can be used to create a whole Garuda-Class Warship but it was used instead to create a hand-held weapon. If converting its strength, it has a bit of over 400+ attack damage.
With the «Killing Zone», Siva was indeed like a living warship just himself alone, capable of putting a wound on that tough defense.
But…
That’s as far as he could go… just wounding it and not actually become a threat to its life.
So while he was in the middle of working on piling up damages on the dragon’s exposed skin alongside his puppets, he also continued to mutter in between his ragged breaths.
“In my [memories], a True Dragon is as strong as the strongest Immortal, and the average Chaos Gods. And here I am, a wishful idiot thinking that I could actually beat this thing with superior special weapons alone…”
Because he can’t train himself, he can’t raise his stats… and so had no choice but to rely on items and inventions, as well as magical armaments to make up the difference in strengths against all his peers and adversaries.
“30% chance, huh…”
Just as Siva was consoling himself with these increased chances of getting away, Cortana spoke with her bland and seemingly indifferent voice, “Actually boss, with the City’s Defense Force acting this way, your chances of getting away here unscathed had dropped to 15%.”
“And what about scathed?”
“20%.”
“@)#$!(^&*”
“And it’ll continue to drop the more Media Agents continue to pester the Dragon. I’ve analyzed its movements and behavioral pattern sir and there is a 60% chance that it’s targeting only you and not the actual Fortress.”
Siva blinked and then asked, while he dealt a loud explosion when axing the middle of the large red wound on the dragon’s back, “Then why is it still continuing to drop?”
“Because there are incalculable variables popping out here and there; like these Media Agents and City Lord Billion’s actions. He clearly shows…… uninterested on helping you during this fight.”
Siva thought “Why” and wanted to voice it but he realized that Cortana already knew why when he also found the answer himself.
In the end, there are cause and effect in all and every aspect of one’s decisions.
He started to deeply regret stealing those islands.
With a final swing, the dragon had started to growl in pain again and since it couldn’t exactly turn its head back to look at where the pain is coming from, it did, however, turn its head aside and used its right eye to look at Siva.
A flicker of rage and maddened bloodlust assaults his senses; Siva felt the cold intimidating desire to slaughter him coming from that eye.
It embraced his body like a wet piece of cloth with the smell of iron.
For a moment, he felt scared for his life but then at the next, he gritted his teeth and cursed.
“You can’t kill me! No one can!”
Siva slanted the axe and chopped down to the flesh on the wound and the Dragon howled and then wriggled its body sideways to brush him off.
By then, Siva was already in midair and he fired off shots from the cannon towards the same place he had just been attacking earlier.
He will accumulate damage on a single spot until it will hurt so much, it will affect the dragon’s bearing and eventually rage on as it target him alone.
“After that, I’m going to hide in the city.”
“Good luck!”
“Why do you sound sarcastic?”
“Eeeeeh~~?!!”
“—And why is your personality shifting?!”
