"Would he be willing to be my plaything?" Monica chuckled lightly, stepping back halfway to reveal Barrett Walker, wearing a somewhat teasing expression on her face.
"Oh my goodness, please stop it, Auntie!" The estate owner hurriedly intervened, wearing an uncomfortable smile on his aging face, quietly pleading with Danielle Durant.
"Uncle! Since when do you care about saving face? If that's the case, then who will uphold the Durant family's reputation?" Danielle's voice was sweet, like the song of a bird, but her tone was icy and menacing. Despite not possessing the cunning of Maggie Green, the coldness of Rose, or Monica's intelligence, she had her own unique qualities. Her grace before aggression left people speechless.
Barrett Walker, afraid of bloodshed, did not want to resort to violence. Listening to Danielle Durant's low threats, he felt as if she was a treacherous beauty, akin to Empress Lv, shaking his head slightly and saying, "Are we done here? If so, let's leave!"
"Where are you going?" Danielle murmured, exhaling slowly, then lunged at Barrett's eyes with her claw. If her beauty and composure were just a facade, then this claw ripped away her mask, ruthless and unforgiving.
Barrett dodged, and Danielle's attempts to strike back were in vain. Although she was a colonel, she had never experienced anything like Barrett Walker. Her abilities were lacking, and as she became more desperate in front of so many people, she could not even subdue a coward who could only dodge within three moves. How could she uphold her reputation as one of the top ten in the Federation, becoming nothing more than a laughing stock?
Suddenly stopping, Barrett looked coldly at Danielle, whose eyes were filled with anger, wishing she could transform into a real roc and take him down with a single blow.
"Still want to fight? If not, let's leave!" Barrett looked at Danielle's elegant white dress, beautiful yet deadly, shaking his head slightly as he spoke.
Adding fuel to the fire, Danielle's heaving chest intensified, and even a protruding arc was visible, her beauty and perspiration causing men to swallow their saliva. Despite her apparent composure, she exhaled heavily and said, "No wonder you dare to be so arrogant!"
"Or do you think that everyone in this world should be bullied by you aristocrats?" Barrett confronted her, looking at Monica, who was just watching from the sidelines, feeling a deep hatred.
Behind Danielle, a group of idle sons suddenly pulled out a few pistols. At such a close range, firearms were a burden for ability warriors, but these people did not seem to understand the true abilities of Barrett Walker and Danielle Durant. They aimed their guns at Barrett.
"That's enough!" Barrett said softly. He did not want to cause anyone's death, but the purpose of their actions was clear. Looking at the onlookers, whose faces turned pale, no one spoke up. It seemed that as someone who did not frequent high society, he was not well-received. Taking a deep breath, the wind at the edge of the cliff always cleared his mind.
"Hmph! Is this enough? Get down on your knees, or we will kill you!" These true idle sons thought that with their guns, Barrett would kneel and beg for mercy like ordinary people, allowing them to take his wealth and abuse his children.
Kneeling was too distant a concept for him. The war god had once taught him that a man's dignity was as important as his abilities. Therefore, he brought you into the battlefield, hoping to avoid humiliation and death. Although this so-called dignity had caused the death of his mother, he hated it to the bone, but there was also an irresistible impulse. Perhaps it was because of his mother's influence that it weighed so heavily on him. Taking a deep breath, everyone could hear his low inhale, "Never surrender!"
Barrett's speed was so fast that while everyone was still wondering why he was inhaling, Barrett had already unleashed a powerful punch, hitting the person who had been impudent with his gun like a freight truck at an extremely fast speed. The person's body was severely deformed, with bones shattering and falling to the ground. Barrett's speed exceeded 50 meters per second, surpassing the average speed of a colonel, completely stunning everyone.
This type of power release belonged to the current most popular anaerobic explosion. It was not sustainable, but its sudden explosive force was powerful. Barrett's lion-like attack with all his might left everyone completely dumbfounded. Although they did not know how strong he was, it was certain that his speed could barely match that of a major general. The eighteen-year-old major general seemed to have surpassed the legend left by Morton Walker, completely intimidating everyone.
"Can we leave now?" Barrett had never used the anaerobic explosion method before, and after the explosion, there would be a period of weakness, like after a climax. Barrett only felt completely exhausted, his muscles seemingly torn from the overload, calm as he asked Monica.
Monica glanced at Morton Walker, who nodded gently. She quickly said, "Alright, let's go." Then she glared fiercely at Danielle, sweetly taking Barrett's arm as they walked towards the car.
Danielle was completely stunned by the power and speed of Barrett's attack, forgetting everything in that moment. Only a truly fearless and unyielding person could act like this. As Barrett passed by her, the powerful sound of the wind did not stir her dress, but it stirred her heart. However, the source of all this strength could not inject the slightest bit of power into her body.
Mark Smith watched the dazed Danielle and wished to act as a hero. Why did this commoner dare to show off so blatantly, walking with one of the most beautiful women in the Federation, enjoying the fearful gazes of the people? As he watched Barrett Walker away, he unconsciously stepped back, squinting his eyes and revealing a sinister look as he said softly, "Monica, take care of this young hero, don't break your back too soon!"
"Mark Smith, you'd better watch yourself!" Barrett turned around and saw his father with a strange expression on his face. He paused for a moment, then looked at Mark Smith, giving him a meaningful look.
"Wait, are you just going to leave after killing someone?" The estate owner examined the idle sons who had been injured by Barrett and found that there was no blood. The person had already died, his body swollen and bruised, like a balloon. The estate owner's face changed, standing up decisively and saying, "The federal law does not allow anyone to trample so easily. As a federal citizen, I have the right to uphold the dignity of federal law, so I will call the police to handle this matter seriously!"
In the eyes of everyone present, the federal law was just a whore to be trampled on when needed. Now, hearing his solemn words, everyone was slightly surprised. Had he gone mad? But they knew that he had already made his stance and chosen to remain an onlooker.
Monica released Barrett and was about to step forward, ready to use real force. After all, killing someone did not matter. To die at the hands of an ability warrior was a lucky fate for these idle sons. However, Barrett stopped her, realizing that she should not get involved at this moment. "In this apocalyptic world, it's important to learn how to cling to a powerful figure. You chose to cling to someone more powerful than you, but have you ever thought about the danger of challenging the Durant family compared to me, a lone individual? Perhaps you should wake up and think about it."

Surviving a wolf attack was always a sword hanging over his head, ready to fall and take his life at any moment. The Durant family was like a massive lion, ready to tear him apart. This dilemma left him in a bind. Looking at Monica's serene smile, the estate owner realized his own foolishness. The fact that Monica was interested in a man who dared to openly trample on the ancestral teachings of the Rothschild family meant that this man was not simple at all! He took a step back, indicating, "Federal law does not permit anyone to trample so easily.
"Great!" Monica exclaimed with a sweet smile on her face, affectionately taking Barrett Walker's hand and saying, "Darling, let's go."
A gust of mountain wind blew, carrying a faint radiation. Barrett Walker shivered slightly, a bad omen. Monica's smile faded as she glanced at Barrett, expressing protest. She couldn't believe that even after making the first move, he was ignoring her.
Buzz! Buzz!
The roar of wild beasts disrupted the tranquility of the mountains. Suddenly, two beams of light shot out from the monster, its powerful legs crushing two frogs that were leisurely strolling on the road, splattering blood and flesh and startling countless wild ducks in the forest.
"They're coming after us, can you handle it?" Barrett Walker was surprised that these people were so eager to attack them. He suspected there would be an interception ahead.
"They wouldn't dare!" Monica's hand on the steering wheel turned pale. As the soon-to-be heir of the Rothschild family, who would dare harm her?
"You're too naive," Barrett Walker said, gently patting Monica's head. "Perhaps this is not just a random attack, but specifically aimed at you."
"Please stop," Monica said, puzzled by who would want to use them to get rid of someone. She was also surprised by Barrett Walker's mature and resolute demeanor, finding him more alluring than before.
"What should we do?" Barrett Walker, aware that Monica had been watching him, asked nonchalantly.
"What else can we do? You're a general, you made quite a show just now. You go ahead, I'll be cheering you on from the sidelines," Monica said irritably.
"What general? Can't you see that I was just putting on a show, using smoke and mirrors?" Barrett Walker was bitter. If he really were a general, he wouldn't be in such a difficult situation.
"Alright, as long as you're here with me, I'll be content," Monica said as she drove down the mountain road at breakneck speed, the world-class sports car reaching speeds of almost 290, relentlessly ramming into the armored vehicles ahead.
The soldiers suddenly received orders to block the road, and due to the hidden strongholds throughout the capital, it didn't take long for the armored vehicles to block the path to the mountaintop, with a soldier on the vehicle pointing to the distant lights and exclaiming, "Look, is that a car? It's moving so fast."
The light was moving too fast, followed by several sports cars, but their speed was no match for it.
"It seems to be a car, ah! It's here!" The soldier had barely finished speaking when the car arrived, crashing into the blocked road and narrowly avoiding the armored vehicles.
"Watch out for the roadblock ahead," Barrett Walker said, quickly adjusting the steering wheel to perform a spectacular drift, the car's tires bursting into flames upon impact with the roadblock.
"Brake now!" Barrett Walker shouted, the handbrake lever almost deformed from being pulled so hard. The car hit the roadblock, flew into the air, and flew over the armored vehicles. In mid-air, Barrett Walker unfastened their seat belts, pulled Monica into his arms, and kicked the car roof, narrowly escaping as the vehicle crashed to the ground, shattering into pieces. Barrett Walker was relieved that he hadn't believed in Hollywood action films, and after rolling on the ground with Monica to reduce the impact, he pulled her up and fled down the mountain.
"There's no road down this mountain!" Monica, seeing Barrett Walker's injuries, was unable to comprehend the recent warm embrace. However, when she saw the direction Barrett was taking her, she quickly came to her senses and shouted.
"We have to escape even if there's no road!" This was a deep mountain valley, and the tunnel was the only way out. Once inside the tunnel, they weren't sure what dangers awaited them, so they could only run down the valley, biding time and waiting for reinforcements from the Rothschild family.
"Hurry and chase them! What are you waiting for?" The soldiers on the armored vehicles and behind them watched the sports car somersault over them, each one slightly dazed and bewildered, having never seen anything like it. The leader roared in anger, grabbed a gun from the armored vehicle, and shouted, dashing after the car. The armored vehicles rumbled over the road barriers, chasing down into the mountain valley.
"Who could it be that wants to use us to do their dirty work?" Monica, being carried by Barrett Walker, regained her composure and asked.
"Who else could it be? There are plenty of people in this federation who want you dead," Barrett Walker replied without any sympathy. The Rothschild family's military power was not strong, but they were the financial powerhouse of the federation. If this financial powerhouse were to fall, the concentrated capital would be dispersed, benefiting many people, but the common people would suffer even more. Therefore, despite disliking the Rothschild family's methods of amassing wealth, Barrett Walker had no intention of intervening, as he did not yet have the power to do so.
"Even if they leave me behind, the Rothschilds will choose a successor from a collateral line, without compromising the family's strength," Monica said, unsure of what these people were after. They dared to mobilize the military, and the signs of their intentions were too obvious. It would be a bad deal to kill her.
"Heh, those who do business are quite pragmatic," Barrett Walker couldn't help but sneer.
Monica stumbled, almost falling over a vine. Barrett Walker caught her and, despite his dislike for the Rothschild family's influence, the ambiguous moments they had shared growing up made it hard for him to feel any animosity. He carried her on his back, muttering to himself, "Even though I speak ill of the wealthy, I can't refuse a freebie when it's offered."
"What are you saying?" Monica let Barrett Walker carry her, listening to his self-deprecation, and suddenly bit his shoulder, causing him to exclaim in pain, "At a time like this, you want to hurt me? You're really like a dog!"
"Hmph! So what if I am? What can you do about it!" Monica tightened her grip around Barrett Walker's neck and threw her crystal high heels into the distance, firmly wrapping her legs around his waist.
Wearing an evening gown, Monica's long, slender legs were pressed tightly against Barrett Walker. He chuckled softly and said, "You're not so young anymore, yet you're still so wild!"
"Hmph! I'm wild, what's it to you!" Monica tightened her grip on Barrett Walker's neck and legs, feeling the wind passing by her ears and the continuous sound of gunfire behind them. Despite the quiet of the mountain valley, her heart was unusually calm. She touched the bite wound on Barrett's shoulder through his clothes and asked, "Does it still hurt?"
"A dog's teeth haven't fully grown in yet, so being bitten shouldn't be too painful" Barrett Walker was surprised by Monica's sudden tenderness, and the fact that she didn't seem to be trying to escape at all. In their loneliness, the two of them seemed like lost ducks wandering through the woods at night. As they relaxed, they both felt the soreness and pain in their bodies. The earlier blow had indeed injured Barrett Walker's muscles.
They could still hear the sound of gunfire and pursuit from behind, but the more they heard, the more Barrett Walker felt something was off. It seemed like he had been overlooking something important.
"Do you feel like these soldiers are putting on a show?" Barrett Walker stopped and asked.
"Hey, why did you stop, we need to keep running, the enemy is about to catch up!" Monica, seeing Barrett Walker stop, and the gunfire getting closer, couldn't help but pat his shoulder and urge him to move.
"Haha, you've become quite the lady knight," Barrett Walker laughed.
"Hey, I'm not that old, and you're still so wild!" Monica said, feeling the wind passing her ears and the continuous sound of gunfire behind them. Despite the quiet of the mountain valley, her heart was unusually calm. She touched the bite wound on Barrett's shoulder through his clothes and asked, "Does it still hurt?"
"Chase is coming, run!" Monica exclaimed, as a bullet whizzed dangerously close to her face, almost shattering her composure. Unable to contain her urgency, she urgently tapped Barrett Walker's shoulder, urging him to move faster.
