147.Promotion (Part 2)

"Do not disturb him!" Julia's previous serenity was replaced by a sudden and stern reprimand.

The woman, startled, quickly withdrew her hand and shivered, causing the magnificent flesh of her chest to sway continuously, leaving the men around her swallowing their saliva. Her face turned slightly pale with fear as she looked at Julia with a look of apprehension. Julia sighed softly and said, "Even disturbing someone while they are eating can be choking, let alone when he's in this state, most likely absorbing energy. If you interrupt him and make him lose his concentration, it could cause severe disability or even more serious problems."

"Oh! Well, fortunately, I haven't made any big mistakes," the woman's face instantly cleared of its earlier clouds, and she patted her chest, careful as if handling a papaya, and tentatively said, "I was wrong to suspect you."

"No problem," Julia quickly reverted to being the quiet and gentle woman, surprising everyone who had just heard her thunderous roar. Monica remained silent, watching Barrett Walker. She felt that his current state was not right.

"What's wrong? Weren't you lively just now? But now you've sat down and look like you've just recovered from a serious illness," the male students crowded around the field, initially just trying to take advantage of seeing the so-called campus belle, but now, seeing Barrett Walker's state, many of them gloated and made mocking remarks.

"Let's go, guys, let's take advantage of his illness and beat him to death. Let's teach him a lesson," they said.

"Get out of here, you bunch of bitches," Ryan and Fal, the two brothers, wanted to charge in, but they were stopped. They couldn't help but curse angrily, but they had made up their minds to drug everyone once they left this training camp.

"What are you?" Monica couldn't bring herself to see what state Barrett Walker was in, and hearing the commotion outside, she found these two annoying flies. They were just disgusting, and Monica looked towards a person not far from the crowd.

That person was David Green, along with several other young gentlemen who were close to the Green family, such as George Dollarage, Mark Smith, and a few others. The conflict between them and Barrett Walker was not so easily resolved, and she was afraid that these people would take advantage of the situation.

Sure enough, as the commotion grew louder, those who had temporarily been subdued by Barrett Walker's presence walked over and pushed back Ryan and Fal, with Mark Smith looking disdainfully at Julia. He had been rejected by her, and now he felt very uncomfortable and angry. Although he was very unhappy inside, his face still showed pride and anger as he said arrogantly, "Do you want to protect this wild man? I'm afraid it won't work with just you."

"What about us?" Despite having used up all their energy, Barren and Danny stood up and were joined by a large group of young gentlemen who were quick to show their support. The power of their families was almost on par with that of David Green and Mark Smith, and even better in some cases. But with Monica on their side, it was a one-sided scene.

"Humph! What can you two achieve, acting like laborers," David Green sneered. "Can these few bitches stand up to so many of us?"

At this, George Dollarage nodded in agreement, "My cousin's right. Laborers should look like laborers, and bitches and laborers should stick together. When fists and feet start flying later, injuries might occur, and then we won't be able to explain." George Dollarage still spoke without engaging his brain, a complete buffoon of a character.

If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

"Can you please shut your mouth!" both sides said simultaneously.

"I don't know who the bitches and the laborers are, but being surrounded by so many of you, is it an honor for me?" Barrett Walker suddenly opened his eyes. He seemed as if he had just been pulled out of the water, but his eyes were very bright. With this slight movement, it was as if he were the only one in the world, and it was an elusive feeling that couldn't be grasped.

Barrett Walker's current strength emanated from deep within, affecting those around him with a sense of reluctance to confront him, as if he were a towering mountain that demanded reverence. With a single step forward, he closed the distance between himself and Mark Smith, as if by teleportation, and seized him by the throat, lifting him up. Compared to Davin Green, Mark Smith was the one who filled him with greater loathing, and he slammed him forcefully to the ground. It was only then that the onlookers realized what had transpired, their expressions filled with astonishment at the rapid eruption of power. What level of strength was this, truly?

"Apologize!" In the previous life, Barrett Walker had been trampled underfoot by Mark Smith, but in this life, he found no sense of achievement in doing the same to him, as if it were simply a matter of course. He spoke with a chilling coldness. Suddenly, he glanced at the nearby, eager Davin Green, and for some reason, as he gazed into his bright eyes, Davin Green's resolve wavered, and he dared not launch a sneak attack.

Mark Smith, having been trampled underfoot by Barrett Walker in front of so many people, harbored a deep-seated anger, his eyes burning with fury as he glared at Barrett Walker. If looks could kill, Barrett Walker's body would have been riddled with holes, but he remained silent, refusing to apologize. It was a futile hope to make him do so, and he would rather die than submit.

"You have quite the backbone!" Barrett Walker exerted a slight pressure with his foot, and the bones in Mark Smith's chest crackled and popped, causing him to cry out in pain. Barrett only wanted him to threaten one more time and then capitulate. Was it too much to ask for a little backbone? The pain in his chest was unbearable, and Mark Smith, unable to maintain his tough facade, pleaded, "Ouch! I'm sorry, I was wrong, please spare me!"

A murmur of surprise rippled through the crowd. They had thought that Mark Smith had a lot of backbone and had been prepared to support him and condemn the audacious Barrett Walker, but now, seeing his abject state, they could only sigh. Perhaps this was the current state of affairs.

Barrett Walker released him with satisfaction and approached Davin Green. His bright eyes bore into Davin's, causing him great discomfort, and he involuntarily took a step back. It was only then that Barrett Walker nodded in satisfaction and said, "In the future, don't be so audacious in my presence. You must be clear about the situation."

"You're causing trouble again!" Benjamin Blake, dragging a heavy load, had just hauled a tiger down the mountain. He was utterly exhausted, and seeing Barrett Walker, who was drenched in sweat after the altercation, he could barely muster a smile. Tossing the tiger aside, he spoke with a menacing tone.

The crowd quickly stood at attention, realizing that Benjamin Blake was not in the mood for jokes. If they didn't comply with his wishes, there would likely be more than just tears shed. Barrett Walker remained standing alone, motionless, his body upright and devoid of the weakness that Benjamin Blake perceived from someone who had indulged in excessive sexual activity.

"You're all a bunch of fools. I told you to eat in the cafeteria, and now there's nothing left for you to eat!" Benjamin Blake grumbled, paying no attention to the others as he dragged the tiger towards the cafeteria. "The first ones back get an extra meal!"

It wasn't mealtime, but the group dared not move. Barrett Walker stood at the rear, his body swaying slightly. Despite leaping three levels to reach the rank of colonel, the speed at which he had advanced had left him unsatisfied. His promotion had drained all the energy from his body, leaving him utterly spent. Unfortunately, everyone was too stunned to notice.
