55. Shock (Part 1)

A large group of students from a private high school formed a team, with four of them patrolling in different directions, while the others followed closely behind. The team discovered a marsh area marked in red on the map, a place known for high-energy monsters and complex terrain that most people dare not enter.

"What's wrong?" The person on guard suddenly stopped, and the person behind asked.

"We've entered the marsh. Should we go in? There are high-energy monsters here!"

"Why not go in? One high-energy monster can handle a hundred low-energy monsters!" Some people couldn't help but mock.

"Are you out of your mind? A high-energy monster can emerge from tens of thousands or even millions of lower-energy monsters. Let's not go in. Let's take a detour and go in from the other side." The team leader looked very mature, with a small tuft of beard on his chin and a fierce look in his tiger eyes. He glared at the person who had just made fun and decisively said, leading the team to take a different route.

The only female student in the team was protected by everyone. She had a delicate face, wore sunglasses, and carried a sniper rifle on her shoulder, which seemed to be a small-caliber semi-automatic rifle. She was keeping a close eye on the road in the distance when she suddenly exclaimed, "Obstacle, hurry, they're coming!"

Hearing her slightly panicked scream and gestures, the others were puzzled, but they knew she could see further with her equipment. The team leader quickly turned and patted her on the shoulder, saying, "Stay calm! What's happening?"

The female student's movements with the rifle were very similar to those of Barrett Walker, pressing the rifle stock against her shoulder and leaning her body to minimize the sniper's exposure, but her movements were somewhat clumsy, indicating that she had learned from photos of Barrett Walker's sniping actions. She was also very aware of the terror of high-energy monsters, and as she looked through the scope at the three approaching high-energy monsters, she was visibly agitated.

"Captain! Three high-energy monsters are coming from the front! What do we do?"

"Hmph! Why panic? We are students of a prestigious school, not ignorant civilians." A team member scoffed.

"Shut up, kid. Three high-energy monsters are more than we can handle right now. Let's retreat quickly!" The captain's eyes flashed with displeasure as he scolded the team member who had interrupted, waving his hand to move aside.

"Too late, they're too fast!" The person observing the front and the one using the sniper rifle almost simultaneously exclaimed and fired. Three high-energy monsters, a flying wing mallet, an iron-arm mallet, and an undead beetle king, the most powerful flying insect among high-energy monsters, were not the least bit hindered by the girl with the sniper rifle. The iron-arm mallet charged forward, its massive claw blades directly cleaving one person in half, then grabbing another person and flying off.

The flying wing mallet flew lower, its wings plunging into the crowd, causing blood and flesh to fly as it instantly killed four or five team members.

The captain watched with bloodshot eyes, their hard-won team decimated in an instant. As the undead beetle king approached, he drew his machete and slashed at it with all his might, but the hard shell of the undead beetle king was impervious to his blade, and a green liquid sprayed from its mouth as it struck, dismembering several people. The undead beetle king arrogantly stood in the midst of the group, its fist-sized green eyes constantly scanning the people.

"We're no match for it, quickly scatter!" The captain's mouth twisted as he looked at the remaining few people and gestured for them to retreat.

"Bang!" Suddenly, a gunshot rang out, and the flying wing mallet's wings were severed, causing it to crash to the ground. Everyone turned to look at the only girl with a gun, but she looked bewildered and made no move.

"Bang! Bang!" Gunshots suddenly echoed around the marsh, and the lower abdomen of the iron-arm mallet was blown open, causing it to fall and become a pile of minced meat.

"What's going on? Who is it?" Almost two shots killed one iron-arm mallet and crippled one flying wing mallet, leaving only five people looking at the severed limbs and the two high-energy monsters still in their midst, feeling an extreme sense of terror.

"Let's go! Let's head to the green area, forget about the red one." The three high-energy monsters had wiped out their entire team, and they hadn't gained any advantage. The captain, now cautious, picked up the map stained with red and pointed to the green areas.

"Alright, let's go." The female member's mind was filled with the graceful and cool posture of the person who had fired a shot just now. She even thought that person was the sniper god of the second world, and as she listened to the captain's words, she nodded somewhat dazedly and followed the captain away.

Barrett Walker looked through the scope at everyone leaving, then let out a wicked chuckle. "Hmph! Dare to come here and steal from me, without considering your own abilities. I am the sniper god! Not one of you can even touch me!" Barrett Walker thought of the stunned look on the person's face just now and couldn't help but clutch his stomach. A little entertainment once in a while wasn't a bad thing.

Barrett Walker checked the records again and found that the highest was still achieved by Davin Green, with over a thousand monsters killed, almost doubling the count. He must have risen too quickly! Barrett Walker couldn't help but think of some dubious things within the group, realizing that someone had spent a lot of money to boost their ranking. However, Barrett Walker was not envious at all. He had already killed twenty-three high-energy monsters and should have the highest record.

A large group of people from the Academy of War, led by Danus Leo, quietly arrived at the Twenty-First Public High School. Despite being a large group, they easily avoided the ordinary soldiers and low-level ability warriors, quietly exploring the entire high school. The training environment there made them frown.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

"What a lousy place. It only has the most basic high-low double bars, and there's not even any surveillance equipment!" The dean of the combat department, a black man, complained loudly, surprised that there wasn't a single high-precision fear device.

"Alright, black. This time we came quietly, so please lower your voice a bit," the elegant director of the mecha combat department gently urged, placing her slender index finger to her lips.

"Understood. Don't treat me like a child," the African American director nodded and quickened his pace to follow behind Danus Leao.

"Principal! What are you looking at?" The African American director stretched his neck over Danus Leao's shoulder, curious to see what was inside, only to find Barrett Walker lying in the machine with the screen blank. Clearly, Barrett Walker had dared to not activate the monitoring. "Is that him? Bold enough to disable the surveillance. I'm starting to like him more and more," he remarked.

"Principal, Black Senior Brother, Grenna! Why have you all come?" Suddenly, Ross Rockefeller appeared behind the African American director, patting his shoulder, startling him. Only a major general like Ross could detect such a large group of advanced combat specialists in the academy.

"I have a name, call me Ang-Li, or Ang, I don't mind," the African American director turned to face Ross with a mischievous look, teasingly raising his eyebrows like a child.

"Ross! This student is quite mischievous!" Danus Leao remarked, watching Barrett Walker fumble inside the machine for a long time, seemingly in a daze. "Ross, I didn't expect that in just a few days, you've gained a good understanding. Your spiritual energy is focused and calm, yet ready to be projected outward. You've gained a great understanding of softness," he commended.

"Principal! This student is quite playful!" Ross had not expected so many people to arrive at the Combat Academy. She thought that Barrett Walker had provoked the Combat Academy in the afternoon, leading these people to come and deal with him. She immediately defended Barrett Walker, "What happened this afternoon, Gren really went too far, and Barrett Walker didn't have an idea. She went a bit overboard."

"Haha! Look at how anxious you are!" Ang-Li chuckled.

"Ang, say a few less words! No one thinks you're mute!" Grenna, the elegant head of the mecha combat department, reprimanded.

"Enough, I have a feeling. Let's not stand here and affect them. Let's go!" Danus Leao said calmly, leading the way. The faculty and professors of the Combat Academy looked puzzled, glancing at the closed screen. How did the principal know he was doing well? Could it be that Ang-Li, like Ross, was speaking based on intuition?

"Principal, how did you know that student was doing well?" Ang-Li asked, following closely behind Danus Leao.

"If it's a person from the psychic department, they can detect it. His mental power is as concentrated as a rope, focused yet not chaotic," Danus Leao explained.

"That's how you determined it! What if he was slacking off somewhere?" Ang-Li dared to ask.

"In this environment, if a student is slacking off, can they make you all come here to check their status?" Danus Leao countered.

"Tsk! That's just your speculation. What if I'm also right?" Of course, Ang-Li dared not say these words and simply followed behind Danus Leao.

"Principal, where would you like to visit? Allow me to show you the way!" Ross quietly exchanged a few words with the beautiful senior sister of the mecha combat department and quickly pointed ahead.

"Alright, we're here. Let's go see how he's doing now!" Danus Leao said, leading the way and avoiding the vigilant soldiers and combat specialists. They left the 21st Public High School and arrived at a heavily guarded building. This was where information was collected and disseminated in every city, and the students could access any information with the appropriate permissions.

Ross looked at the imposing building in front of her, feeling a bit uneasy. These were all government property, and despite being advanced combat specialists, they didn't belong to the federation, so they didn't have access.

"Alright, I won't make things difficult for you," Danus Leao said, knowing this, and then turned to the other directors and heads of departments, "Those who don't have the necessary clearance won't enter, alright?"

After saying this, Danus Leao swiftly grabbed the other directors and department heads, and in an instant, they all felt as if they were soaring through the clouds and mist. Danus Leao climbed up the heavily guarded building in a few swift movements, and as they landed, they all felt their hearts pounding. These were all high-ranking officers with the rank of major general or higher! Their understanding of Danus Leao's incredible abilities deepened even further.

Ross Rockefeller was at a loss for words, realizing that clearance wasn't solely based on one's abilities. It also depended on one's contributions and loyalty to the federation. But since Danus Leao was her principal, she didn't dare to say anything unpleasant and followed along with a solemn expression.

"What's wrong? Are you unhappy?" Grenna sensed the tension in Ross and gently squeezed her hand, signaling her to relax. She smiled and reassured her, "You know the principal won't do anything harmful to the federation. Relax! Most of us are not bad people, either."

"That's not how I see it!" Ross exhaled deeply, feeling a bit annoyed.

"Alright, alright. That's not how you see it, and we all know that. So, just calm down and don't get needlessly upset," Ang-Li turned around and flashed a set of perfectly white teeth, grinning.

"Grenna, why don't you go ahead!" Danus Leao was not interested in manipulating the machines, so he stepped aside. He disdainfully glanced at the high molecular material door, which could only deter gentlemen but not scoundrels.

"Let me do it!" Ross understood the consequences of Grenna opening the door. It could compromise the entire federation's security system. She took out her identification card, swiped it, and then went through the process of fingerprint and iris recognition before finally saying, "Open the door!"

"Open the door!" The synthesized voice repeated, confirming Ross's identity, and the transparent high molecular material door then slowly opened to reveal not a microcomputer room, but a heavy alloy security door inside. Ross bent down and breathed a sigh of relief, "It's safe!"

"Safe! The air doesn't contain any harmful substances. Confirmed safe, you may enter!" With a creak, the heavy alloy door slowly opened, and countless glowing diodes continuously flickered with a blue light, as wondrous as an underwater world.

"The designer of this mechanism is quite cunning! They actually tricked us. If someone was afraid of being taken hostage and exhaled with a certain concentration of harmful substances, this door would have sealed them in!" Grenna looked at Ross's grim expression and couldn't help but chuckle to defuse the tension.

Danus Leao entered the core control room, passing through the glowing diodes and facing the screen in front of him. "Look at the campus LAN, the monster-killing record!" he commanded.

"Accessing the campus LAN. Due to ongoing exams, it has been encrypted. Shall I decrypt it?" the synthesized voice replied in a cold and emotionless tone.

"Yes," Danus Leao replied.

"Decrypting. Please wait..."

At this moment, everyone's gaze turned to the large screen. Suddenly, the entire screen went black and then a list of names appeared. At the top of the list was Daven Green, who had killed 2,311 monsters, followed by George Dolag, who had killed 1,824. They all looked through the list until the last one hundred, but there was no mention of Barrett Walker.

"Why are all these high-ranking officials' children's names on the list?" Ang-Li expressed his displeasure. If this was the caliber of students the Combat Academy was receiving, he would prefer not to teach at all.

"It seems we made a mistake. This is the voluntary list," Grenna explained. "Please open all the lists!"

"Opening the overall list..."

The overall list was written in bright red: Barrett Walker topped the list with 42 kills!
