4. Jumping Price

Barrett Walker moves like a gecko on steep cliffs, defying both the gravity of the Earth and the constraints of the network. However, as he climbs the cliff, he leaves behind clear traces of his passage.

If the irascible instructor were to witness Barrett Walker's terrifying actions, he would likely exclaim, "This is a promising young seedling, able to withstand my torment."

After the incident of syncope, no one underestimated the prowess of Kate Walker. With a slap, Daven Green, dressed in a black bulletproof suit that blends seamlessly with the night, looked disdainfully at Kevin Maruk, thinking, "You said he was here? Why is no one here? You dare to deceive me!" Fuming with rage, he raised his hand to strike, but Kevin Maruk immediately lowered his head, causing Daven to retract his hand.

"Cousin! Beat him soundly. He looks like a bumpkin and blames the dog for following him. Isn't this type of person asking for trouble?" George Dorag straightened his oversized helmet and, upon seeing Daven Green raise his hand, gleefully cheered. Afterward, the loose helmet tilted again, and George grumbled, "I need to complain to this swindler. He's ruined my hairstyle."

"Get lost! You're the dog, your whole family is dogs. If your mother wasn't my aunt, you'd have been beaten long ago," Daven Green looked at this somewhat silly and self-absorbed cousin, unable to comprehend how someone with such high intelligence could have such a babbling relative.

"Oh my! Cousin, you called me a dog. We're all dogs in our family. Aren't you part of our family?" George Dorag completely failed to understand why his cousin was losing his temper. After all, he had exerted so much effort and still failed to catch that boy.

"Who? Come out, I saw you," Kevin Maruk, who had been slapped twice, was still smarting from the pain, and his heart was full of curses. He truly was a pig of a teammate.

"What? The traitor from Public High School 21 doesn't recognize me anymore? Consorting with the enemy, do you know the consequences of being caught?" Barrett Walker jumped from the cliff and approached Kevin Maruk, determined not to let him draw his gun. Taking advantage of Kevin Maruk's distraction as he tried to unstrap his pistol, Barrett took a step, grabbed him by the neck, and, using his right foot to destabilize Kevin's, pushed him over, causing him to lose his balance. He then delivered a powerful blow to Kevin's face, causing him to faint.

In the Public High School 21 surveillance network building, screens displayed scenes of students engaging in combat. An African-American instructor, known to students as the "Angry Bulldog," named William, lay comfortably in a chair, wearing only a pair of beach shorts. He tapped his legs with a riding crop to the rhythm of the metal music. Next to him was a cup of Tieguanyin tea. The muscles on his body were clearly defined, and he resembled a hibernating bear. It was hard to believe that a powerful colonel had given up alcohol and cigarettes in favor of a mild tea.

Ding ding! Two computer prompts sounded, and the name Kevin Maruk turned gray on the screen. The African-American instructor raised his head, pushed his sunglasses down, and glanced at the screen. Lacking interest, he put his sunglasses back on, picked up the tea, and cursed, "The school hasn't paid the electric bill again. This lousy air conditioner, how many times have I said it, get a new one. This old miser is so stingy." He whipped the air conditioning unit with his riding crop, causing it to emit a loud creaking sound before the outer shell fell off. "Are you trying to start a rebellion?" The loud noise that rang out upon opening the door almost caused the temporary headmistress to have a nervous breakdown. Her bellowing voice reverberated throughout the surveillance room, shaking her favorite purple clay teacup.

The African-American instructor, upon hearing the sound, almost jumped from his chair and stood up straight, saluting with a closed stance, chest out, head held high, and said, "Good day, instructor!"

Before him was a nightmarish figure. In contrast to her wild military attire on the battlefield, she was now dressed in a well-tailored black professional suit. With her prominent bust, perky backside, black stockings, and gold-rimmed glasses, she looked like a professional, seductive office lady. It was hard to see her as the ferocious dragoness she was. However, the imposing aura she exuded when she nearly shattered the teacup with a single shout made the sweat on her forehead impossible to ignore.

"Enough, this isn't the military. Stop saluting. I’m the temporary headmistress of this school now," Ross Rockefeller looked around the small surveillance room as if inspecting it, then saw the Tieguanyin tea, which she could smell from a distance, and sat down in a chair.

Ding ding, two more prompts sounded, and Barrett Walker's name appeared on the screen. It wasn't the red of being killed in action, nor the gray of being unconscious or captured, but the yellow of desertion in the face of the enemy.

Seeing the yellow alert, the headmistress's face first showed a hint of surprise, then quickly turned to anger. "Daring to disgrace me in front of my instructor. You wait to be taught a lesson!" Ross glanced at Barrett Walker's name and sighed, "Alas! This person is beyond saving. It's just fainting, right? Overcoming it should be simple. Becoming a sniper is also an option. But you actually deserted your post in the face of the enemy."

Ross detested those who deserted in the face of the enemy, believing it to be a matter of one's character and something that should never be tolerated. Thinking of her brother giving up Jazz High School for the sake of this good friend and transferring to a civilian school, she felt an intense rage.

She wanted to set the entire school on fire, but where would she get the money for renovations? It was nothing more than a fleeting thought. She was determined to get her brother away from this coward.

"Instructor, this person is usually quite timid, so I sent him to C Heights, which is just an inconsequential place. I didn't expect..."

Where was the usual air of authority that War had in front of his students? At this moment, he only felt like he had lost face in front of his dearest teacher, leaving him feeling not only angry but also regretful, and above all, helpless.

"Alright, I understand this person now. Accompany me to see him! He should have come out by now!" "Where are you hiding?"

Barrett Walker continued to search Kevin Maruk's body, finally feeling out the external connector at his lower back. It was a small green box, and as he pulled out the antenna, the red light on it lit up. Barrett Walker was very aware of the consequences of this red light going dark, as leaving the battlefield without orders would be seen as desertion, and would be dealt with by military law.

"Who said I'm a single man! A lot of lice won't make you itch, and a lot of debts won't make you worry." He laughed at himself, took a deep breath, and firmly pressed the red light, sending out the stored waves in the external connector, the program that belonged to Barrett Walker in the online world.

Opening his eyes, this was the real world. It wasn't as beautiful as the online world, but full of crises that epitomized Darwinism. Disconnecting the biological electricity connected to the network, the screen in front of him went dark. Barrett Walker stood up, feeling a rush of gravity, and his legs gave out, falling to the ground, rubbing his painful knees: "Calm down! Don't act in haste, if someone eats your tofu, you don't have to eat crap! Having cold tofu is good enough."

"Kitty! Are you still breathing? Come out and die for me." Walking to the exam door, War's face turned as dark as the night, not much different from an angry male dog.

"Taking a bath! Please do not disturb. For peeping, please buy a ticket. Individual 40, group 20% off." Barrett Walker was now feeling both anxious and flustered, listening to the shouting outside and responding with an impatient remark.

"Keep it down! There are other students inside!" Ross turned around and scolded, realizing that his own voice was quite loud, and quickly covered his mouth and turned around.

But after hearing the words coming from inside, his expression immediately darkened, thinking that his brother also had a way with words, and it must have been taught by this person.

After Barrett Walker spoke those words, he immediately covered his mouth, realizing that this irritable instructor was about to discipline someone. But there was no time to waste with him now. He opened the window, looked at the ground below, not too high or low: "Jumping off a building is a big deal. Jumping from the first floor is just for fun, the second floor can break a leg, the third can break a hand, the fourth can break a waist, the fifth can break your breath. Damn! What can the sixth floor break!"

"I know if you jump from the sixth floor, you can stop breastfeeding in the next life?"
