Rebirth: The Resolute Conquest
17. The Ferocious Tiger (Part 1)

17. The Ferocious Tiger (Part 1)

Bruce vowed that even as an ability warrior with extraordinary physical potential, he probably couldn't match the level of proficiency in all aspects of gun use displayed by this person. Despite only firing two shots while running, he managed to hit a total of seven giant bugs, a display that, in his eyes, was godlike marksmanship, beyond his current understanding of firearm skills.

For such expertise, he thirsted for knowledge, vowing to discover the true identity of this person, willing to risk his life to do so. He wanted to learn this kind of marksmanship, which was more than just gunplay, but a performance of the most exquisite death song.

Gradually, Bruce noticed that the gray shadow no longer appeared in the video. Despite his origins as a reconnaissance soldier, he now couldn't find a trace of that person, not even the giant bugs ahead, which suddenly scattered without their previous formation.

Barrett Walker was rushing back through the underground passage, uncertain if there were giant bugs inside. However, it was certain that if he encountered them with only two bullets left, he would be defenseless. The punishment for facing death without treatment was severe, with confiscation of all property for the lighter offense and the possibility of becoming a fool or being haunted by the past for the more severe one.

He knew that if he didn't work to change, something terrible would happen, leading to a tragic life and missing the love of his life. Therefore, he had no choice but to take a gamble and rush in to find bullets.

In the pitch-black sewer, a foul smell emanated, a characteristic of Huaxia. Occasionally, he could see large bandages drifting by his feet and even some with sun flags on them. In this environment, Barrett Walker found himself unusually calm, perhaps due to his rebirth or remembering a crude joke about a speeding train. His sense of humor was a testament to his composure in this grim situation.

Barrett Walker calculated the distance and finally saw the manhole cover. The contorted posture he had to maintain was uncomfortable, but at least there were only two hundred giant bugs above, with no other types present. If there were, he wouldn't dare to push through. As long as he found the bullets, everything would be alright.

Hush!

Barrett Walker let out a heavy sigh. The smell here was truly unpleasant.

"Gods of all realms, Western deities, and Allah, protect me! Whether I can catch up with them by taking another path depends on this time."

Gently pushing open the manhole cover, he was relieved that it was a military area, so no one dared to steal the iron manhole cover. Otherwise, if it had been made of cement, it wouldn't have been so easy. Seeing the empty courtyard with nothing in sight, Barrett Walker let out a heavy sigh of relief and couldn't help but mock himself.

This should be the back of the main courtyard. Barrett Walker passed through a small garden and went straight into the building, not knowing where the armory was located.

As soon as he entered the building, Barrett Walker knew it was terrible. Though he was cautious, he didn't expect these thoughtless giant bugs to set a trap for him. At this point, he couldn't conceal himself anymore. With only two bullets in his gun, he couldn't easily fight back. Watching the large bug that had already revealed its figure in the distance, occasionally showing off its large pincers in his direction, it was a demonstration of power and intimidation.

To have great strength but not dare to fight back was more frustrating than anything. Barrett Walker truly despised this dizzying fear. By now, the front yard was probably full of traps!

Barrett Walker glanced at the stairs, unsure if there were bullets or giant bugs inside. Slipping the Type 85 sniper rifle over his shoulder, Barrett Walker told himself that he could not die, not just for himself, but for Julia Menard.

Over two hundred giant bugs, a seven-story military building had become a deathtrap. How would Barrett Walker, with only two bullets, handle this!

In the real world, the human federation capital, Weijing, built in the Yellow River Valley, backed by Mount Zhanshen, and facing the diverted Yellow River, almost ruled the entire human world. It had sixteen satellite cities of varying sizes. Now, the Federal Parliament building was in chaos, with senators and officials agitated like ants on a hot pan.

The Senate of the God of War, now heavily guarded, was bustling with awakened ability warriors, ensuring that not a single fly or civilian could slip in. The Senate, under the nominal rule of the indolent God of War, had three elder councils, nine executive officers, and one hundred and eight public senators, each of whom was considered the most powerful figure in the entire human federation.

If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Leading the Rockefeller family, responsible for the second world's American region, Ken-rich-Rockefeller, was the current head of the Rockefeller family and one of the three elder councils. Known as the tyrant of the Rockefeller family, even his son, Carlo Rockefeller, dared not defy his will, only his grandson, Baren Rockefeller, dared to be presumptuous in front of him. Sitting in the front of the circular hall, the entire room seemed to be weighed down by his silence.

"Matthew Green! Audrey! The American region has fallen. How are things on your end?" Ken looked exhausted as he received the reports, speaking with deep regret.

Matthew Green, Audrey Rothschild, and Ken Rockefeller were the three elder councils, each responsible for several regions in the second world. Clearly, the invasion of extraterrestrial creatures into the second world was a massive blow to the human federation, the only haven for humanity.

Looking at the noisy scene below, Matthew furrowed his brow in agony, saying softly, "Should we ask the God of War to intervene?"

Audrey, a frail old lady in her seventies, seemed to be everyone's first impression. However, the Rothschild family had successfully controlled the financial power of the entire human federation. This shrewd old lady not only contributed the family's 'Golden Sands' to become part of the federation's forces, but also firmly held them in her hands.

Even this shrewd old lady couldn't help but frown and say, "The European region has also fallen, and the God of War has not yet recovered. I think forcibly shutting down 'Star' is the only solution."

"The African region has also fallen. Senators, if the last great central China region also falls, we will not only lose the war but also lose face! Come up with a solution quickly!".

Oba Terence was known for being an honest man and gave off an impression of political ignorance. He was also a representative of the black community and one of the nine executive officers. However, this honest man was not very popular among the black community.

"Yes! Old Matthew, the great central China region represents the real world now. If it falls, 'Star' that is placed under the Public Senate will become their backdoor, able to detect our every move anytime, anywhere!"

The only one who could call Matthew Green "Old Matthew" was the head of the Smith family, Wright Smith.

The Smith family was a peculiar existence within the federation, with the largest number of seats in the Senate. Their descendants ranged from good to bad. If the Smith family united, it could be called the first family of humanity. However, the internal strife within the Smith family was severe, and Richard Smith, one of the top ten outstanding youths of the federation, was also a member of the Smith family.

"What do you think? What should we do?".

The three elder councils briefly discussed and reached a consensus. Looking at the noisy senators below, they prepared to vote and decide.

"I agree, forcibly shut down 'Star.'"

"I also agree."

"I agree as well."

Although it was known that the forcible shutdown of the "Star" would have disastrous consequences, all those who had died in the Second World would be left without data, and there would be no subconscious mental therapy after the system was restored. More importantly, widespread power outages would occur in the human world, affecting the mental faculties of many normal people. But these were not the most important consequences. The most important was that humanity had lost the war, and it could be called a disgrace.

All the members here knew that this was a drastic measure, but the citizens of humanity did not and would not know. The will of the three main speakers and nine chief executives had been made clear, and none of the 108 members dared to oppose them by presenting any counterarguments.

"Very well, a consensus has been reached. Everyone, please rise."

After the vote was finished, the chief of the nine executives, Oba Terence, announced loudly, "I, Matthew Green!" "I, Kenrich Rockefeller!" "I, Audrey Rothschild!" "The three of us jointly drafted the decision to forcibly shut down the core of the Second World, the 'Star' supercomputer, on May 1, 0015 in the Mythical Era. This resolution is a top-secret SSS document and will be permanently sealed and never opened from this day forward!"

As the three main speakers read the document jointly, the nine chief executives and the 108 members remained silent. If the citizens were to learn of the decision made by the Human Federation, the entire federation would probably collapse instantly! Many of the members felt a deep sense of sorrow, and they were even afraid to think about the more serious consequences.

After the document was read, the entire Public Council was quiet and solemn, with not a sound to be heard. No one knew what the others were thinking. Looking at the three main speakers, perhaps they had become accustomed to such acts of betrayal!

Bang! Suddenly, the solemn doors were pushed open, and all 120 people in the Public Council turned to look. They saw a man wearing a pale yellow robe with a motif of a fierce tiger embroidered in platinum thread, a belt and belt buckle made of white jade, and silver hair and beard. At this moment, his beard was spread out, and his tiger-like eyes surveyed the entire Public Council. His appearance interrupted the solemnity of the council, but it made the council even more dignified and solemn, and no one dared to challenge his authority.

He was the God of War, the one who selflessly carried the entire Human Federation on his shoulders. His majestic presence was still awe-inspiring. In front of him, the three main speakers, the nine chief executives, and the 108 members did not dare to take a single breath.

"What are you doing? How can such a big decision be made without notifying me?"

He walked steadily, step by step, slowly descending the stairs. Wherever he walked, the members bowed, the executives held their breath, and the three main speakers smiled slightly in an attempt to please him. This was the God of War.
