At present, he must first fill his belly, as he is now no different from a starving ghost! Watching the sparsely scattered crowd disperse, today is different from the past sighs, each face carries a smile. However, many people are emaciated and cannot force a smile. They have become refugees in just a few days here and their first priority is to go out to the mountains and forests to hunt.
Barrett Walker looked at the two women in front of him and suddenly quickened his pace towards them. He seemed like a plague, outstanding in every aspect. His aloofness and arrogance were completely different from before, as if he had become a completely different person. There are many aspects of him that are admirable, but also many that are contemptible. However, it's hard not to like him.
Barrett Walker watched as people around him avoided him, but he didn't care. When he reached Monica and Julia, he asked, "Have you had your fill at lunchtime?" For some reason, Monica and Julia seemed to be somewhat afraid of Barrett Walker. Upon hearing his question, they just nodded. Julia was about to pull Barrett Walker away, but Monica whispered, "We've eaten our fill, and since it's the afternoon off, they've invited us to play mahjong. We're leaving now!"
"Alright then!" Barrett Walker didn't mind, watching them leave and then seeing Barren and Danny hurrying towards the buildings. Barrett Walker was unsure why these two brothers had been avoiding him lately, and now those two women seemed to be distancing themselves from him. It seemed as if he had done something wrong, but he could only suspect. They probably didn't know! The only thing is that he came back undressed. He'll explain to them another time!
Barrett Walker urgently needed to eat something, so he headed towards the canteen. Every time he bought something, it was the most, and he ate the most. Of course, this was also because he dared to go where others didn't. Although he caught a lot of things, he never shared them. He didn't have enough for himself, let alone for those who disliked him.
As he watched the chef, Trent, basking in the sun and telling bawdy jokes, Barrett Walker listened for a while and then walked over and patted his shoulder, saying, "Trent, have you made the beggar's chicken for me?"
"It's done! It's done!" When Trent saw it was this plague, he immediately instructed an apprentice to bring out a few lumps of clay. After Barrett Walker took them, he said, "You're really stingy, taking 80% of the profits. Next time, bring me a big game animal!"
"It's just breaking even. It's all because of your strange tastes. It takes a lot of effort and resources for me to gather these spices for you!" Trent lay back in his chair, shaking with laughter. 8 out of 10, he had really been through a lot for this feast! These were all pure game, things like tigers and black bears that were hard to come by in previous months, but he didn't expect to eat them every day. He really admired Barrett Walker, so he worked extra hard to make things for him.

Barrett Walker gnawed on a few pieces of beggar's chicken, only eating the best parts. However, eating only this meat would easily make a person sick of it. But Barrett Walker didn't seem to mind. His demands for food had reached a terrifying level. He didn't waste the leftovers like chicken ribs, chicken buttocks, and chicken bones, but instead packed them up. These were his guarantee for his next meal.
After eating and drinking his fill, of course, there had to be wine. The wine here was a kind of fruit wine called monkey wine, a rare commodity. Barrett Walker had undoubtedly seen a group of monkeys and obtained it through pursuit, but he had never hunted these monkeys. It's not that he doesn't like monkey meat, or that he can't bring himself to do it. He's not even afraid of killing people, let alone monkeys. It's just a matter of principle, a very strange attitude. He only hunts fierce tigers, leopards, or unintelligent mountain birds.
Barrett Walker approached the Sword Mound Tower, a nine-story building with red brick outer walls covered in ivy, claiming its territory to the outside world. The hallway was dark and damp, with a chilling breeze that made the ivy flap against the windows, creating an eerie atmosphere. Barrett shivered for no apparent reason, feeling a sudden chill that made him tremble with terror.
The sudden sound of wailing startled Barrett, prompting him to angrily challenge the unseen source of the noise. But as quickly as the sound had come, it disappeared, leaving the floor empty and immaculately clean. As he ascended the tower, Barrett felt the chill intensify, piercing his spine.
Attempting to bolster his courage, Barrett began to walk, but the overwhelming cold made him unable to remain composed. He resorted to running, yet the narrow, dimly lit hallway seemed to stretch endlessly, as if leading into the afterlife. Despite his efforts, he felt weaker and his stomach began to protest loudly. Squinting in the darkness, Barrett saw a dim yellow light, but when he kicked the wall to investigate, he instead stumbled into the wall, his forehead gushing blood. The metallic taste of blood cleared his dizziness, and he realized he had to remain conscious despite his fear.
Looking up at the seemingly endless staircase and down at the equally daunting descent, Barrett felt as though he was being swallowed by two gaping beasts. The faint yet persistent sensation in his heart became stronger after he collided with the wall, causing more blood to flow. He hesitated, then pushed open the door, only to find not the expected sunlight, but a massive underground cave with a bewildering array of machinery in operation. Barrett took a step forward, expecting to find a terrace, but instead fell into a chasm. When he awoke, he found himself surrounded by numerous broken swords, with the distant roar of flowing water echoing in his ears. The pain in his forehead assured him that this was not a dream, and as he stood up, he saw the same yellow light that had led him here.
"What is this place? I saw that giant machine just now, so why are there so many swords here?" Barrett pondered, eager to unravel the mystery. Yet, despite his strong will, he felt a sense of inexplicable fear, causing him to proceed cautiously rather than rushing forward.
