213.Playing with Danger (part 3)

The explosion there only caused him to furrow his brow. Through the countless swarm of insects, he seemed to catch sight of the two fighter jets. He then leapt high into the air with a vigorous shake, letting out a long whistle as the myriad of extraterrestrial creatures swiftly swooped downwards. In almost an instant, he broke free from the swarm and ascended to the top, gliding in the sky before taking flight with incredible speed, gradually approaching supersonic levels.

Suddenly, Benjamin Blake's urgent voice came through the earpiece: "Quick, look at that thing above!"

Barrett Walk had been keeping a close eye on the massive swarm of insects, but upon hearing Benjamin's words, he immediately looked up and saw a gray light rapidly approaching. The speed at which it passed by created a trail of white vapor, a testament to its formidable force.

Meanwhile, the radar indicated that the unidentified flying object was hurtling toward them at an alarming speed. Barrett Walk hastily inquired, "What is it? Could it be a craft from the Federation?"

"I don't know, but with this many swarms converging here without a response from the Federation, it's unlikely to be theirs. I suggest we leave immediately. Our actions now are futile in the effort to save the Federation," Benjamin Blake replied.

"Alright...we need to leave now." Barrett Walk felt an increasingly strong sense of palpitation in his heart. He believed that the object posed a threat to his life and, therefore, dared not linger. With a hurried agreement, he swiftly piloted the aircraft to turn and depart.

"Look! Are those our planes?"

"There are two planes, they're ours! Whose else could they be?" As the people below looked up at the dense swarm of insects, their eyes were filled with despair. Where was the Federation army at this critical moment? What was to be their fate? They desperately sought a lifeline, but when they saw the two fighter jets, a glimmer of hope arose, only to be dashed as the planes turned and departed, turning their hope into despair.

Even as they turned and fled, the object on the radar continued to accelerate. Watching the incessant flashing of warnings, Barrett Walk felt a surge of restlessness. Suddenly, the plane lurched and Barrett Walk's heart skipped a beat, but in the next moment, the fighter jet's speed surged to the maximum, breaking the sound barrier and quickly leaving the capital city far behind.

"Barrett Walk! There's something on your aircraft, like a large bird with wings!" Suddenly, Benjamin Blake's voice came through the earpiece, tinged with fear.

Barrett Walk looked up and saw a grotesque face, tightly pressed against the aircraft's back. At that moment, Barrett Walk was thoroughly frightened. Even at such high speed, this creature remained unscathed. He desperately rolled the plane in the sky, hoping to shake it off, but it seemed to have become a part of the aircraft, staring calmly at Barrett Walk from within the cockpit.

"Damn it, Benjamin Blake, help me get rid of him." Unable to shake off the creature, Barrett Walk felt a sense of urgency, not knowing what kind of ferocious and deadly entity it was!

"Okay, you could end up crashing too!" Benjamin Blake was also anxious.

"I'm not afraid! Damn it, if I slow down, he will definitely kill me. I need to..." Barrett Walk's voice was resolute and firm. This guy dared to cling to his plane with such ferocity, even at such high speeds, indicating a determination to kill him. Barrett Walk had no choice but to fight for his life.

"Ah! I'm afraid!" Benjamin Blake looked at the crosshairs on the screen, his palms sweaty. This was an extremely difficult strike! His focus was entirely on the target, fearing that even a slight tremor of his hand would cause the bullet to miss. Suddenly, the video went black, startling Benjamin and causing the plane to shake. Something unknown had struck the wing at incredible speed, causing the F22 fighter jet to dance in the sky, its wings trembling. "Take care of yourself! If I can't handle it, I'll parachute out. Stay safe!"

Barrett Walker turned to see Benjamin's vehicle emitting smoke and slowing down. He suspected it was related to the object on his own aircraft. Determined, he steered the control lever, causing the aircraft to dive rapidly. The object on the top of the plane sensed Barrett's intentions and struck the casing with a resounding impact. Despite the immense force, the plane did not deform, but the repeated blows increased the pressure on Barrett. Then, with a light sound, the casing cracked, and the rushing wind felt like knives. Barrett didn't dare to wait any longer, and immediately activated the parachute under his seat, propelling himself out of the plane.

Boom! The explosion sounded beneath him as Barrett's body rapidly grew in size. The parachute didn't have time to open, and Barrett landed heavily, tumbling to the ground. He stood up, shaking his head to clear his vision, but before he could react, a shadow flashed past and he felt a sharp pain in his chest. He was sent flying like a cannonball, but the parachute caught him. Barrett felt the fiery pain in his chest, the first he had experienced since his transformation, but he could endure it. Roaring, he stood up again.

This time, the shadow did not attack him, but rather soared high and glided to the opposite side. Barrett finally saw what this humanoid figure was, a hideous creature with large wings on its back, just like the description of Lei Zhenzi in the classic Chinese literature.

"Are you human, or..." Barrett asked, his face calm. After days of training at the Academy of War, he had learned to control his transformed state. "Precisely, I should say I am a god," the creature replied, elegantly arranging its clothes and feathers. His attire was ancient and adorned with mysterious symbols. "I heard from the father god that you will be his greatest enemy. Although you have grown quickly, in my eyes, you are still too slow. It seems you won't have time to become his enemy. Today, you must die!"

"Hmph! Whether I live or die is not for you to decide!" Barrett looked at the creature, feeling immense pressure despite its elegant movements. He recalled the day he was killed during the doomsday bell, realizing that he must have encountered this creature. With a grave expression, he took the Sword of Life and Death from his back, finding it to be the only source of comfort.

"Interesting. Alas! Once all these people are killed, Earth will no longer be fun!" After finally finishing adjusting his clothes and feathers, the creature looked at himself and nodded in satisfaction, speaking to Barrett with a face of sorrow. Despite his seemingly peaceful words, Barrett was filled with anger, but he remained vigilant, clutching the Sword of Life and Death.

"Stay still, or your friend with the parachute will come down! I will have to go find him trouble if that happens." He suddenly turned around and looked up at the sky, where a large umbrella was blossoming in the distance, speaking softly to Barrett Walker.

Although Barrett Walker knew this guy was deliberately provoking him, and what he was doing now was just a deliberate flaw sold to him, it wasn't really a flaw at all. But Barrett Walker had to move, even though he knew it was a trap. He thrust his sword out, as fast as lightning, so fast that even Barrett Walker himself didn't know how fast he was. But the next second, he completely froze, because he had grabbed the blade of the sword of life and death, emitting a continuous stream of blue smoke. He held onto the sword of life and death, soared into the air, kicked Barrett Walker's chest with his feet, and let go of the sword of life and death, then heavily kicked Barrett Walker's chest again.
