Atlas raised both his hands above his head, and that's when you noticed the glint of a gun behind him.

"So, you're going to put a bullet through me, Doctor Green?" Atlas chuckled. "You know I don't mind dying right now, right? After everything I've learned."

"I'm your father, you ungrateful shit." Doctor Green gritted his crooked yellow teeth.

Father?

Atlas let out a shaky laugh. "After all you've done, you're just going to kill me?"

You slowly shook your head at Atlas. You wish he would just shut up instead of taunting the man. You glanced at Lucian; it seems like he's thinking carefully.

"And you," Doctor Green said, looking at Lucian. "Didn't I offer you enough, boy? I offer you, your mom, and your half-brother eternal life."

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Lucian stepped forward, hiding you behind him. "You are our town's doctor."

That’s when it hit you. The doctor- the one you saw back when you traveled in the past was the same person standing next to Atlas.

He adjusted his glasses. "Were, boy. Were."

"You were supposed to help the sick," Lucian said. "That's why... no one recovered. Ever since you came to our town, people have started dropping like dead flies." His eyes blinked rapidly. "It was your fault."

"All for my son," Doctor Green said. "You see, my son is a very special person. Like me, my father, my grandfather, my great grandfather—all of them can live longer than any humans in this world. Unfortunately, all of them perished a little bit more than a hundred years old." He yanked Atlas's shoulder. "My boy, he's special. I know it. And I will destroy everything and anyone that comes in my way."

You felt the ground shake as the sky and clouds got darker. Lucian placed an arm behind your back, steadying you. Something else caught your eye when you glanced at Lucian. In the corner of your eye, you saw flickering lights from afar—from New Helios Town.

The wave of darkness was slowly sweeping through the town, enveloping everything in total darkness. Before you could react, a strong gust of wind blew.

"Run!" Lucian shouted.
