“That’s weird,” Lucian replied, smiling ear to ear.
Sal smiled. “It is!”
That’s not weird, knowing what the town has become.
You sat on a stone, hugging your knees as you watched pale boy Sal, the root, the meaning, the “how” and “why” of everything that happened.

Days passed by, and Sal and Lucian would always play during the afternoons. They created a friendship that was pure and sweet, until one day Sal just didn’t show up at the usual spot by the lake where they always met. Lucian sneaked into the town, and that’s when he found Sal. He greeted him, but Sal didn’t return; instead, he ran away and hid in the clinic.
You went inside the clinic only to find Sal talking to the doctor, his father. Sal told him about the strange kid who waved at him. That’s when you realize that he doesn’t remember anything.
“Go and take a rest,” Dr. Green said.
The doctor took out a notebook hidden underneath a drawer. He started scribbling notes.
