Your wide eyes slowly drifted towards Atlas. He pressed his finger on his lips, signaling for you to be quiet. Hell, he doesn't need to tell you that. Atlas crouched behind the desk and started working on the drawer. You heard a jiggle of the keys matched with the rattle of the front door doorknob.
"Shit," you muttered to yourself as you quickly went to Atlas.
Atlas stood up with a gun in his hand, pointed at the door. "Get behind me."
And so you did, while your eyes scanned the room for any other weapons or anything that you might use.

The doorknob stopped rattling for a few seconds, and then it swung wide open, almost hitting the wall. Atlas fired one shot. The sound resonated through the walls of the office. You felt a loud ring in your ears as your shoulders jerked from the sudden gunshot.
"What the fucking fuckery, Atlas?"
You slowly opened your eyes and saw the forest ranger with his hands in the air.
"Shit! I'm sorry, John," Atlas said, leaving the gun on the desk and sprinting to the ranger. "Are you shot?"
"No, no. I am not. Good thing you're a fucking dumb shooter, Jesus! What the hell were you thinking?"
"I thought you were the killer," Atlas said.
John, the forest ranger, eyed you, and then his gaze drifted back to Atlas. "Geez kids, I don't know what you got yourselves into, but you're free to stay here. Let me know if you need anything, and I'll take that gun, no buts."
