You followed Lucian and Atlas to where the town is. The church stood ominously under the soft glow of the moonlight. It was as if not long ago you and Lucian were here. You let out a heavy sigh.
When you finally reached the wooden staircase that led to the top of the hill where the town sits, Lucian cleared his throat and pressed his palm against the rocks.

“We aren’t safe from those trapped souls,” Lucian said. “The townspeople turned into these shadow figures, but, unlike me, they are mindless.”
Atlas, as if he had not heard Lucian, took a step forward.
You glanced at Lucian, wondering what he'd say, because obviously Atlas might get into some serious trouble; instead, he kept quiet.
Atlas glanced back at you and Lucian. “Wait here.”
