Freezing raindrops started to fall. It felt cool and light on your skin. The sky had turned black, hiding the moon and the stars behind huge clouds. A loud thunderbolt illuminated the sky for a mere second. You glanced at Lone man, his eyes wide.
"It's raining," he muttered so quietly.
You nodded. You couldn't hide the smile on your face.
He stood up, stretched his arms, and looked up at the sky. "It's raining!" He said, more loudly this time.
Behind him, the shadow people started to move again. They looked confused as they were walking around and bumping into each other. Eventually, they found the wooden staircase. They retreated as if nothing had happened.
"They're gone," you said.
"The rain must've confused them," he said. He took your hands in his and said, "Believe it or not, we never had rain for almost a century!"
"What?"
