…
Time passed as Mira stayed in the moving camp. Most people treated her like a normal person with some few exceptions that were still apprehensive. She spent most of her free time with Woo.
Woo had few friends in the camp since not many kids his age survived. Unlike his older brother Woo was very mischievous, he would convince Mira to sneak him out of the camp so he could see her shoot more beams, do various moves and explore places the people didn’t have the energy, time or curiosity to explore.
Satisfying the boy’s curiosity became a past time for Mira. One day they both snuck back into the camp after some hours of exploration. On their way back to Il’s tent they found Woo’s mother, Ra, waiting for them.
Woo who was on Mira’s shoulders stiffened while Mira kept sneaking and dropped Woo inside the tent behind Ra and started jogging away. Mira had replayed their usual routine after an escapade without taking note of Ra’s presence.
Why? She didn’t understand the concept of sneaking. She had just been following Woo’s specific instructions. Ra said “Gomjong Sinbi! Wait!” Mira already had a toddler’s understanding of speech so she understood Ra’s instruction and obeyed. Still, she didn’t know why Ra made her wait.
It was evident to Woo that Ra’s frustration was building up. She didn’t know how to rebuke Mira so she directed all her anger at him. “What were you doing?!” she asked in a loud voice that dripped with fury.
“I-I was just going around the camp with Gomjong Sinbi to see d-different p-places” Woo said in guilt.
Ra expression softened as she said “Oh? Just that? That’s not a big deal! Putting yourself in danger just for fun in unknown territory is just fine. I’m sure your dad would love to here about it” Ra finished with a sarcastic nonchalance; Il finding out was the worst case scenario, he would spank Woo furiously.
“P-please! I won’t do it again!” Woo knelt as pleaded with watery eyes and a shaky voice that was on the verge of tears.
Ra continued to threaten to tell Il while Woo begged. As Mira watched this exchange a flash of understanding hit her. Woo was trying to avoid this situation by moving out and into the camp without anyone else noticing.
Mira was disappointed in herself for not picking up on this earlier. She had seen Ra from afar and had approached her thinking nothing was wrong. Mira knelt, copying Woo’s form and said “Please” in a sorry voice.
Ra was shocked at this turn of events; she had purposed to tell Il and have him punish Woo but with Mira begging this created a whole new train of considerations.
“Please… won’t… find… us… next” Ra’s brows rose up at Mira’s broken statement.
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Sensing her curiosity, Mira put more effort into completing her statement.
“Please, you… won’t find… us… next time” Mira smiled as she assessed her sentence and affirmed its completeness. But the grave look on Ra’s face subverted her expectations.
Ra immediately started striding towards where Il was suppose to be. Woo looked at her quickly shrinking figure with despair. His despair turned to anger as he shouted “You shouldn’t have said that!”
Mira was dumbfounded, she had improved on the sentence that was given her results but all of a sudden the situation had done a 180. She felt sorry for Woo and scared; she didn’t want him to angry at her.
“I… no… know… please” Mira said pleadingly to Woo.
Woo snorted and turned his head away from Mira. Mira kept repeating her sentence like a broken record; she didn’t know how to completely express her feelings and it was killing her.
Ra eventually returned with Il who was livid. Woo’s butt received 7 strokes of the stick Il came with causing him to cry before he was grounded to his tent. Il didn’t want to hit Mira but he couldn’t let her off just like that, she would feel unusual if he did that. So he rationalized his not beating her with the fact that she was tricked by Woo but she still got grounded so that she got the message that what she did was not right.
After this incident, the duo never left the camp again and Mira began to actively learn how to speak. She asked questions to the best of her ability when she didn’t understand an expression. And after a week of travel with the camp, Mira had learnt how to speak.
3 days after Mira perfected her speaking a new and unusual incident occurred; the camp’s advance had stagnated. For some reason, they kept circling back to one spot no matter which direction they went. It didn’t take long for the people to become certain that they were being influenced by an evolver.
Why this was happening? They didn’t know. They assumed that this influence was unintentional. They were going for the world meeting; they couldn’t imagine why anyone would knowingly hinder them. Their other guess was that it was a monster that didn’t know what it was doing.
Their knowledge of monsters wasn’t very refined since most of them had spent the time before the end WW3 hiding. They still thought monsters to be dumb killers.
In response they looked to the only solution they could find; Gomjong Sinbi, Mira. Han Wi asked her in a meeting with all of the people “Do you know why we are circling around?
Mira nodded and said “Space, someone has tweaked the space to constantly loop us back”.
Han Wi was glad Mira actually knew what was happening. She asked “Can you stop it?”
Mira said “I can try”.
Han Wi said “That would be enough”.
Mira looked at the area around her. She saw the woven energy that sustained itself with a process she didn’t understand. The woven energy also slowly and surely twisted space every time she moved, molding the space so that it would lead her back to the camp.
Mira ran some distance away from the camp to create some distance; she knew her energy could be dangerous. She covered her finger tips with purple energy and pulled apart the air like she was opening a curtain. Space cracks extended from her finger tips and began to fill the entire area.
The energy curtain began to move trying to resist the effect of Mira’s interference. Sadly the energy couldn’t pose a challenge and was slowly ripped apart. Mira had been gentle because if she rashly destroyed the energy it would cause spatial tears that would rip the camp apart along with the people in it.
A portal opened a few meters in front of Mira and a female Elf wearing black jeans and a red blouse walked out. She had a comically large sword resting on her shoulder. Her eyes were red like the crack like pattern that ran on brown sword.
Mira’s IP identified the woman as [Rank 12 Primordial Elf].
