Chapter 267: Pitch-Black Woman 1

Chapter 267: Pitch-Black Woman 1

The argument eventually died down as a more level headed woman helped the group realize that there was no way to take back what had been done; they had to live with Il’s choice.

The woman walked up to the pitch-black woman and asked “What’s your name?”

The pitch-black woman replied “What’s your name?”

The woman sighed and said to the people “It’s like what Il said, she is like a baby. She’ll just have to stay with us for now. We have an early day everyday so everyone should get their sleep”.

The people went back to their tents, some willingly some grudgingly. Mira watched this not knowing what to do. Some people had gone back to their tents while some had stayed to watch. The watchers had increased since some people couldn’t go to sleep with a dangerous variable like Mira staying around them or their family and friends.

Mira compiled the information she had acquired in a second and found a few actions she needed to take. She spread her senses through the camp and found a set of clothes that was about her size and that no one was wearing in one of the tents.

She had noticed that everyone was dressed apart from her so she aimed to fix that. She suddenly started walking towards a tent causing the people who were watching her to get agitated. They followed her as she intruded on a couple sleeping in a tent and took a shirt and trouser lying on the floor and wore them.

The people who followed her were trembling, even if they wanted to stop her they weren’t brave enough to. Mira’s next action was to go back to the perimeter of the camp and stand watch. She didn’t want to enclose herself in a tent since she wanted to observe the people.

Those that were considering going to sleep before completely lost the urge. The woman wasn’t as docile as she was when she met Il so they couldn’t reduce their caution. The woman unblinkingly watched them and they watched her.

Shifts changed and various watchers went to bed and were replaced by others but the people watching her remained awake. The night faded and the morning came. Those who watched the woman now had bags under their eyes wondering what the point of watching her was.

The people rose up and began their morning activities. Il brought out his brush and put toothpaste on it. These comforts were only available because humans had won back the country and had begun bringing parts of civilization back. He fetched a cup and woke his second son up; he had slept through the entire night.

The boy rubbed his eyes as he slowly came out of his torpor. He was turning 6 this year. Il directed him toward where the brushes were and watched as he picked his and lined it with toothpaste.

They both came out of their small tent which was beside the tent where Il’s wife and his older son slept. The wife and the eldest son came out of their tent and the family greeted various people before they began to head toward a river in the distance.

Il’s youngest turned back for a while and his eyes lit up with surprise and wonder as he asked “Who is the black aunty that is following us?” Il and his wife stopped walking and slowly turned their heads to see a dressed pitch-black woman standing behind them.

Il’s wife, Eun Yan Ra, said “It seems we got ourselves a third child”. The people who were watching Mira did not follow her anymore since they, like everyone, where confused whether to take Mira as a threat or a nuisance. She hadn’t expressed any harmful intentions and the only thing that gave her off as non-human was her unnaturally pitch-black skin that looked as if she painted herself and the crater she left in the ground when she fell from the sky.

The youngest son pulled his mothers skirt, his curiosity eating him as he asked again “Mom, who is she?”

Ra said “I don’t know dear, daddy found her last night”.

The pitch-black woman’s focus locked on the little boy as she sensed his untainted curiosity which was similar to her own. Il noticed this but could not do anything about it since he didn’t understand why she focused on the his son.

His eldest had seen the commotion her appearance had caused so he was apprehensive about the woman. The family continued to walk toward the river often turning back to look at their new addition.

The group arrived at the body of flowing water which Mira immediately approached so that she could observe it. There were other people already at the river and others who joined later. Mira went to a secluded spot and expanded her senses to watch them and the river while they bathed and brushed.

When he noticed no one was watching him, Il’s youngest, Eun Dan Mue, sneakily made his way towards the pitch-black woman. Most people didn’t feel safe around her so she was isolated as she seemingly watched the river.

She turned her head on noticing the approaching presence of the young boy. When the boy got within speaking distance he said “My name is Eun Dan Mue, what’s your name?”

The woman replied “My name is Eun Dan Mue, what’s your name?” to the boy’s amusement.

“Your name is not Eun Dan Woo. That’s my name!” he said in-between giggles.

Mira felt a sense of satisfaction as she brought the small humanoid some joy. She wanted to do it again… but she didn’t know how to.

The small humanoid asked “What is your ability?”

At this point Mira knew that repeating what he said would not satisfy his curiosity. So she said nothing.

Woo was not deterred by her lack of response; it was something he experienced regularly. He stretched out his palm and thrust it forward while saying “Can you shoot beams?” He punched the air and dashed around “Super-strength? Super-speed?”

With the question presented in a more easily understood format, Mira got the gist of what he was talking about although she didn’t understand completely. She punched the air the same way Woo did, causing a bang due to the change in air pressure her punch introduced.

She dashed around extremely fast causing winds to blow wherever she went. She stretched her palm out. Her blue eyes turned purple with small dots of multicolored light dancing within them. Immediately after, a beam of purple energy with dots of multicolored lights shot from her palm.

HOWL!!!!!!!!!!!!

With a loud howl, the beam pierced through trees, disintegrating every object it touched until it went out of sight.

“Whoa!” Woo exclaimed before he started jumping up and clapping in his giddiness.

“Whoa!” the pitch-black woman imitated the boy, she didn’t really understanding the reasons for this gesture but she was shocked at what she just did.

At this point the people around had turned their focus to the pitch-black woman and noticed that she was not alone. Ra came running, clothed in a towel along with her husband. They were both annoyed at Woo and scared of Mira. They whisked the boy away from Mira, trembling as they never let their eyes leave Mira throughout the whole process.
