Chapter 170: What is space?

Chapter 170: What is space?

One month passed and the last month of the Coronation War was at hand. Most monsters had formed their own Kingdoms, creating their own unique societies. Some people High grade races had evolved into Ancient and Mythical races all around the world and humanity was gaining back ground from the monsters.

In a certain separate dimension, a brown pod that was formerly green opened up revealing a man underneath. His muscles were large like an Olympic weight lifter, his black skin had a metallic luster to it, and his eyes were listless as he stared at the equipment all around him.

It was Jade.

He held his head and his face twisted in discomfort as he struggled to remember why he was here.

His attempts bore fruit as he remembered that he was trying to bring all his physical stats to pinnacle. He remembered that he had spent two months in the pod. He tried to remember why he did this but he couldn’t clearly remember again. All he knew that there was some danger that he wanted to face, which confused him because he didn’t know why he would want to face danger.

He tried to remember more but he realized some parts of his memory and personality was missing as he found himself wondering if the memories in his head were his own.

A psychic message reached his mind and said “Yo, Jade from the future. It’s me Jade from the past” Jade remembered his voice but he didn’t remember ever saying this.

The message continued “I’m guessing you’re missing a bunch of memories right about now. Thing is, I’m in the same situation, just not as bad as you. Do you remember why we’re in this situation?”

Jade searched his mind as best as he could but nothing was there when there should have been something. He grunted in discomfort as he gave up trying to jog his non-existent memories.

The message said “Don’t bother answering since I’ll re-explain everything to you again”. The message proceeded to explain the different events that had happened and even sent him some video recordings of himself. Some he remembered and some he completely forgot about.

After the update Jade searched his dimensional storage for anything that Mira might have sent. He didn’t know why they were friends when he woke up but the message had told him their history. He knew that she might send knowledge on how to create nuclear weapons so he checked and was very glad when he found a hard drive accompanied by a psychic message that said it was the information on nuclear weapons. There were other messages sent from Mira but Jade ignored them since they weren’t tagged as important messages.

Jade got the hard drive, connected it to computer to confirm the information, and sent about 3,000 readymade teleportation rings to complete the trade. Jade checked his stats after doing that

Jade thought ‘Looks good! With this I should be able to get some projects going’. Jade was about to choose which project he should start on when his IP said ‘You have surpass all predictions. You have become more than what was planned for. You have completed the hidden quest’

[Defy logic and reason and become something that was not expected – reward: Title: Freak – status: complete]

[Title:

Freak: You are a creature that has broken the boundaries that the system has put in place, surpassed expectations and predictions.

Your kill en-code is the maximum kill en-code for your Rank multiplied by 1,000; this will be made known to any creature whose IP senses you. All your evolution options will be boundless races. You receive one advice ticket.]

Jade stared dumbfounded at the notification. He thought ‘Is this a reward or a punishment?’ He looked at the repercussions of the Freak title as he thought ‘Evolutions come later, what I need is a quick way to get my energy to pinnacle, to get one of my stats to Transcendent or kill a Rank 20 monster. IP, what is this answer ticket?’

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

His IP responded ‘The answer token allows you to talk to the Organizer and get an answer to any question you choose’.

Jade thought in surprise ‘Organizer? Any question I choose?’ Jade pondered for a moment ‘Which question should I ask? How to get my energy to pinnacle? How to get my energy to pinnacle in under a month, that’s a good question, specific. If I asked for how to get to pinnacle the answer could just be ‘train’. I don’t want that’

Jade stopped his train of thought for a while, he didn’t want to use the answer token on just how to get energy to pinnacle. He was looking for a more beneficial question.

Jade thought ‘How to get my energy to Transcendent in under a month? How to remove the Soul Parasite- no, kill the Soul Parasite without dying also in under a month? In a day? The possibilities are endless!’

Jade laughed as he kept coming up with absurd questions which he felt no one in the universe could answer. ‘How to go back in time, undo the tragedy that happened to my family, and live in peace? How to become god? How to become immortal? How to become the Organizer?’

Jade cackled madly for a few minutes before he calmed down and thought again ‘This Organizer can only give me an answer not the solution to my problems. Hell the person might even choose to not answer my question if it is to absurd, what am I gonna do, sue him?’

Jade sighed and seriously thought about the question he should ask ‘I have a blue print for the nukes, I have a few types of Magic, I have some failed experiments at nuclear fission, I have space technology, human technology, dwarf technology and I have every stat at pinnacle except Energy.’

Jade closed his eyes for a bit as he went deep in thought. There were two questions he wanted to ask. The first one was how to successfully perform nuclear fission with the resources he had and the ones he could get. The other one was how to improve his space technology. He didn’t say it much, but space tech was OP even though he still had some limits.

He couldn’t teleport a person’s heart into his hand, split any object by teleporting the molecular bonds away or phase through matter, he had tried and failed marvelously at doing those. The light gate was his master piece since it used overlapping portals to remove the restrictions of distance from his teleportation while maintaining stability.

He knew space was more than just a means to teleport things around but he really didn’t know how to do more than just teleport stuff. He remembered the time he made a breakthrough in his research in space technology. The breakthrough didn’t come because he used some special material or because he was lucky enough to try something that worked. The breakthrough came when he had an understanding of what space was; the memory of reality, the memory of the universe.

He began viewing the universe as a computer, with various programs and variables called matter and energy that were kept in a memory bank called space. What he did afterward was to find a way to manipulate the universe’s memory.

From that point on he could shorten distances, switch coordinates, access separate dimensions and even make a device that could map the distribution of space. It was enough for him when he was the stealer of men, but in this apocalypse, he learnt that it wasn’t enough at all. And the more he tried daring things, the more he realized how insufficient his achievements were.

Jade was trying to choose between the old space technology that had been with him for a while and the new nuclear fission technology which was extremely attractive. Both were extremely broken technologies that would make him undefeatable if he got them.

Jade eventually settled on space technology. He already had some idea about it compared to nuclear fission which he was a complete novice at. He might not even be able to control the energy that is produced by nuclear fission and destroy the planet with it.

The main reason why Jade chose space was because he felt it was way more versatile, so versatile that it would be able to realize nuclear fission. If he could do a spatial slash then technically he should be able to split an atom into two lighter atoms which was the essence of nuclear fission.

He told his IP ‘I want to use the answer ticket’. The IP said ‘Understood ask a question’. Jade reviewed the question he wanted to ask again and after setting his mind he asked ‘What is space?’
