Chapter 213: Camille, A Determined Woman

Camille’s legs blurred as she ran towards the duo and Gbenga accelerated, putting himself before Mira. He thrust with his sword, throwing all the momentum from his dash into the thrust. His thrust was fast but Camille was way faster. She bent forward and dashed sideways when Gbenga was about to touch her bringing her behind him; she was aiming for Mira.

She encountered an axe, swing down, aimed at her head from Mira, the speed and power of the strike enhanced by a diamond explosion.

“BOOM!”

The axe missed, hitting the ground, Camille had instantly stopped without any deceleration time and her spear coated in golden energy was thrusting toward Mira’s jaw. Mira was about to dodge when a beam of golden energy shot from the spear head toward her jaw.

“BAAM!”

The beam was intercepted by a flying aura thrust made of the same aura that coated Gbenga’s body. Camille swiftly accelerated to the point where space ripped apart and she appeared behind Mira thrusting her spear that was covered in golden energy at the base of her neck.

Mira turned around, her movement aided by a diamond explosion, and her hand teleported and slapped the spear to the side making it only cut a shallow wound on her shoulder after struggling against the diamond infused in her skin. Mira had phased her body but it seemed to have no effect on the spear. The golden energy lined the wound and burnt and disintegrated the spot it hit even at Mira's high temperature.

“BOOM!”

A second aura slash from Gbenga sent Camille flying away a moment after that. Mira jumped back to Gbenga's side as the golden energy in her wound struggled in vain to stay within her as she pushed it out with her own energy. Camille didn’t let them regroup as she quickly overcame the aura slash and stabbed her spear into the ground while using her force field to stop her flight. The blow was way stronger than she had imagined but her armor held true.

She dashed toward Mira again, shifting space and appearing before her. Her attempt at getting close was repelled by an explosion of diamond originating from the side of her that was facing Mira. Mira told Gbenga ‘I’ll do that when she gets behind you to reach me again’.

Gbenga nodded and took his place in front of Mira. Golden flames sprouted from Camille’s eyes and under her armor various veins of golden flames formed. She covered her spear and the hand holding it in black flames and dashed again, with greater speed and force. She swung her spear down at Gbenga hoping to get him out of the way but he countered with an upward swing of his own that threw her high into the air, disregarding all the strength she put behind the blow. It was clear that Gbenga had the highest strength stat of the three.

Camille’s anger grew and her power soared because of it. She controlled her force field to stop her ascent. The moment she achieved zero velocity, a barrage of diamond spears appeared around her after ripping through space due to the velocity they had from the shooting stars at their ends. Camille shouted madly

“YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

“BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!”

Camille entered some sort of hyper mode for a moment and instantaneously smacked all the spears away. The spears that were supposed to explode towards Camille only exploded outward as they were forcefully redirected by the power of the black flames that covered them after they were hit. The black flames were a product of her spear, it changed the destructive nature of her golden flames and turned them into force creators in the form of the black flames.

Using her force field and gravity, Camille descended back toward Gbenga as Mira prepared a counter. Golden flames mixed with the black flames in a special way and she struck down on Gbenga who countered with an upward slash of his own, causing an earthquake and a nuclear level explosion of energy.

The moment Camille’s spear hit Gbenga Mira had used one of the features of the new axe to hit Camille. Camille saw this coming but she didn’t bother to try and stop it. The axe shined with a blue light and smoked as Mira performed an upward swing while floating up a bit to hit Camille.

The result of the exchange was that Mira and Camille were flung away by the explosion and Camille had a deep wound on her shoulder as she flew back while Gbenga remained unmoved and unscathed. The blood that oozed from Camille’s wound didn’t just spew out like normal blood; it formed a weird circuit like patterns when it dripped on her body and the madness that she exuded increased along with her power.

Gbenga said ‘You better get a good hit on her. I can’t keep up with her if she keeps getting stronger whenever I repel her’. Mira nodded to Gbenga and Camille dashed toward them again.

Gbenga and Mira clashed with Camille time and time again proving to be more than a match for her. Gbenga never got any wounds and was always strong enough to throw Camille back with his counters. Mira started using more advanced skills along with her white flames of stamina, drive, to attack Camille but Camille proved to be incredibly tough.

The statement that Asgardians had sturdy bodies didn’t do the race justice. Facing one of them Gbenga and Mira were astonished by how many hard hits the woman could take and just get up from. Mira tried the strategy of consuming the blood of Camille to gain her powers but Camille’s genes were extremely complex since they were the genes of the progenitor of a god race. Even if Mira removed all the other genes she had stored up she couldn’t assimilate with it. She would have to mutate more to have a chance at Asgardian genes.

Mira knew that Camille got stronger the more immersed in combat she was but she took the concept of powering up through a fight to new heights. Camille kept bleeding and bleeding and the blood and the fury she felt only served as a base for her power and growth.

The battle continued for a whole two days with Camille slowly gaining the advantage. She kept imagining the things she would do to Jade once she found him, her imaginations growing more and more brutal as she was submerged in deeper rage and madness.

A change soon occurred in the battle. Before that Camille’s mad expression seemed to have reached its peak as she looked like a fully insane psycho murderer but then it gave way to a different kind of expression after she got up for the billionth time.

Gbenga was already extremely fed up at this point and was requesting for Lara to take her problem back. He had many deep wounds on his body that oozed black blood. Camille’s golden energy accumulated in the bodies of the creatures they hit and explode in the vital parts when Camille willed it. The affected tissues turn to poisons that infect and destroy the person’s body but Gbenga was immune to that effect hence the black blood that was supposed to corrupt his body just poured out of it without taking any effect.

Mira didn’t have this advantage so she was the second most battered person among the three of them. She had to cut off and regenerated infected tissues and she just wasn’t as sturdy as Gbenga, whose body seemed indestructible on the first day of the fight, only starting to get light wounds on the second day. Mira coughed up blood and a cluster of black and purple infected tissue as she stared at the most battered person. She threw away what was left of her axe, most of it had melted under the assault of Camille’s golden energy.

Camille was fully covered in her own blood; she had regenerated tissues and organs many times during the battle. She was the most tired member of the trio but also the most driven. She had been battered by explosions, slashes and blows but she always got up like some sort of shounen protagonist. Only her bones remained unbroken by the exchanges she had. She could still fight if she gave it her all, her armor had been pounded to pieces.

The Valkyries she brought with her had eventually tired out along the way as the tired meta-humans switched with people from the APT and Night City and were captured. She was the only one left now; she contemplated the foolishness of her decision. Wondering why she went on the path of violence instead of peace but she put it at the back of her mind as she thought ‘It will all be worth it when I find him’.

A peace mixed with her madness as she accepted the insanity of her actions but still chose to go with it. Her mad expression changed to a calm one and chills ran up the spines of Gbenga and Mira as they sensed the change. The next charge was going to be different, someone would die.

Gbenga sighed and said ‘Stay back’ as he walked forward. Camille looked calm but Gbenga knew she had lost her marbles. It was not normal for a human but Camille was no longer human, the things she might consider sane were not the same as the things a human might consider sane. Gbenga had experience with this since he was dating an Elf, Bella, she sometimes behaved like a madwoman.

Gbenga said ‘I’ll bring her back to her senses’ as Camille slowly drew near. A blue portal opened behind Mira but Camille didn’t pay it any mind. Gbenga’s holy aura intensified to a even higher level than Camille’s, giving the impression that he was the purest and most perfect person in the universe. Golden patterns formed in the air around his body as Camille accelerated with blinding speed.

Spear in hand Camille to her form and thrust towards the base of his neck. A glob of golden energy moved from the handle end of her spear to the tip accompanied by a glob of black flames. The golden energy and the black flames combined on the blade of her spear the moment she hit Gbenga causing a focused explosion of heat, light and force, with way more power than a nuke.

The sea split and vapourized behind Gbenga as the beam traveled. The smoke cleared up and an unscathed Gbenga was left after the attack. Camille was genuinely shocked since she didn’t understand how he was still alive. Her instincts clearly told her that he was not going to survive, but for the first time they were completely wrong.

Gbenga turned around and said “I’m not doing this anymore. Lara come and fight your problem!” The golden patterns faded away as he walked past Lara, when he took a few steps behind her a new party joined the fight. Everyone turned toward the newcomer with confusion written all over their face; they didn’t know who this person was.
