Chapter 136: Genius Monster

3 days before Jade met with Yubi, Ayaka was captured. The Daimyos and Satoshi were taking advantage of the chaos caused by the Event to hunt powerful monsters for en-code and souls.

The Daimyos quickly realized a shitty part of the Event; killing powerful monsters was a very poor way to get souls. When monsters that have accumulated a large number of souls are killed the souls they get don’t go to the killer. The killer only gets the amount of souls that corresponds to the Rank of the monster the killed.

Hence after the first day of their battle, the Daimyos knew that the only benefit they were getting was en-code so they didn’t team up anymore to focus on stronger monsters.

About a month passed in that condition, the Daimyos only faced packs of deserting spawns when they saw them to get souls, they were easier to kill and gave plenty souls because of their high number. The strategy of the Daimyos was to get as many souls as possible and make a Crown before the end of the event, this ensured they got a crown with the highest authority possible.

Ayaka in the region of her own hunt saw a group of running Rank 3 spawns that had about 300 members. It was the biggest pack of spawns the Daimyos had ever seen.

Ayaka said on the group’s radio channel “Haha, I see another pack of spawns again. And you guys said the previous one would be my last. Sadao have you finally managed to get something? Or do you want me to mail the pack I’m seeing to you? If you agree to spend a night with me I’ll surely give you this pack” She gloated about her new pack of free souls on the channel. Ayaka had been the luckiest of the group and had encountered 7 packs of runaway spawns. The highest under her had only found 3 packs and now before her another pack was running away.

Sadao said “Shut up! I’m sure you are going to pay for all this good luck you’ve been having. How can the world be this unfair to me?” Ayaka laughed at the elf’s misfortune while speeding toward the pack, sword in hand.

She jumped down from a building and held her long sword high only to black out before she reached the pack.

Later in the day, when she woke up she was sitting before a 10 foot tall extremely muscular blue giant. The blue giant had sharp teeth like a lion’s and tusks extended in place of its upper and lower canines. It had two black horns growing from the side of its head and claws in place of its finger and toe nails. It was looking at Ayaka who was laying on the floor of a building she didn’t recognize.

Ayaka’s IP denoted it as [Rank 23 Youkai: Oni (Male)]. She didn’t need the information about its gender since it was naked and she could see its penis hanging out.

Fear instantly filled Ayaka, a monster that was higher in Rank than Satoshi was alone with her, her death was certain, but she hid that emotion behind an intense glare. Her years spent as a yakuza weren’t peaceful and she knew that showing fear was the first step to losing to an opponent.

The monster sent a psychic message that said “You’re quite good at hiding your emotions. What is the benefit of doing that?” Ayaka stood up without answering, if she was going to die she would go out with pride.

Sensing her resolution the monster stood up from its crouching position and walked back, away from her. Ayaka only had time to notice her state when she stood up. She was naked and she had a bruise on the left side of her head that was bleeding slightly.

She touched it with her finger and finally knew how she got to this situation but she couldn’t still make sense of it. She thought ‘Something hit me and this monster must have found me’.

The Oni sent another message after seeing “My subordinate held back as much as it could”. Ayaka processed the information the Oni just gave and came to a realization ‘He captured me!’.

Ayaka was extremely confused, why would a monster capture her? As if sensing her confusion the Oni started saying with a psychic message “For each question you answer truthfully I will not harm you for a day. I you answer falsely or refuse to answer you will lose a day without harm”.

Ayaka trembled when she heard what the monsters mental message, she had done such before so she knew it was using Conqueror’s Word. Her IP verified her assumption by saying ‘A King is giving you his Word’ and showed what the Oni said in writing. Her IP said again ‘Do you accept the King’s Word?’

Ayaka shouted “Like hell I’ll agree. I’d rather die. Kill me I know I’m just a bag of en-code and souls to you” with her mouth and through the mental link the monster created. Her IP said ‘You are not bound’. The Oni grabbed her hands and pushed her back to the ground as it got on top of her.

Understanding of the word ‘harm’ came to Ayaka’s mind as she realized what the monster was trying to do. She was no stranger to sex but she knew that the monster wasn’t doing this just for pleasure, it wanted to make her the mother of its children. That was something she couldn’t agree to, she would rather die but she knew the monster wouldn’t let her.

She sent shouted through the mental link ‘I agree’. The Oni stopped confusion evident on its face as it said the terms to the previous contract through the mental link and used King’s Word again, this time Ayaka agreed.

The Oni let her go but it was still confused, it tried to push her down again and as fear mounted in Ayaka the Oni’s mind turned off and it found its body stiff. It couldn’t perform any action that Ayaka considered as harm.

It sat down on the floor and said “Why do you consider sexual intercourse as harm?” Ayaka knew she had to answer, from the contract the Oni wasn’t allowed to harm her unless she refused to answer a question or lied. She said “Its harm because I didn’t want to have sex with you yet you forced me to do it”.

Ayaka sighed, she had gained one day free of harm. From her experience she knew that Conqueror’s or King’s Word didn’t just use what was written down to bind the parties; it also used the intentions in the minds of the creatures so if a party said something or had an intention that the other party misinterpreted the IP would say ‘The binding has failed’. So the fact that she was bound meant her perception of the contract would hold.

The Oni knew that it couldn’t waste the questions or it would give Ayaka more chances to refuse to answer so it asked “How do you humans keep your spawns from revolting?”

Ayaka felt fine answering this question since the solution was a no brainer, she said “You just have to pay them an en-code salary. They have individualities and can grow now so they won’t just work for free”.

The Oni asked “What does individuality mean? And why should I suffer to pay them when I am stronger than them? The fact that I’m letting them live should be payment enough”.

Ayaka finally understood the Oni’s situation. It was smart, abnormally so, but it still had the life experience of a 1 year old child. It needed guidance and wisdom that was why it captured her. And the fact that it knew what it lacked showed just how much of a genius it was among monsters.
